The barge shall have transverse framing in the bow and longitudinal framing elsewhere. The hull is subdivided by two longitudinal bulkheads and by eight (8) transverse bulkheads spaced as shown on Dwg. NYS 1 Rev 0 General Arrangement. Depth and flange width of web members are chosen to meet classification requirements of strength, minimum weight and minimum off-cuts. Twin straight skegs are fitted to ensure good course stability whilst under tow. Two push pads are arranged port and two similar starboard, each 6 high, with arch ways below and integrated with the sideboards, as strengthened locations for tugs to manoeuvre the barge. The anchor winch shall be installed inside a winch house and anchor wire led over a guide roller to a sloping ramp on starboard side for stowage of the anchor. 1.3 PRINCIPAL PARTICULARS Length overall 365'-0" ( m) Breadth Moulded 92'-0" ( m) Depth Moulded 22'-9" ( m) Draft Moulded 17'-9.26" ( m) 1.4 CLASSIFICATION The vessel is designed as an unmanned deck cargo barge, constructed in accordance with the latest rules and regulations of American Bureau (ABS), for unrestricted service and to their special survey for the notation ABS + A1 (Barge). 1.5 CERTIFICATES AND REGISTRATION The following certificates shall be supplied to the Owner in duplicate at the time of delivery of the vessel: - Builder's Certificate - Classification Certificate Page 1 of 5
2 - Tonnage Certificate - Loadline Certificate Fees and charges incurred for survey, classification and issue of certificates are to be borne by the Builder. Registration of the vessel shall be effected by Owner at his own cost. 1.6 WELDING The vessel shall be of welded construction throughout. All steel material shall be of ABS grade A or equivalent acceptable to ABS. Welding shall be carried out in accordance with the Classification's requirements and to their attending surveyor's satisfaction. The welding shall be preferably done under covered conditions as far as practicable. As much as possible of the welds to be executed down-hand. Approved sequences to be worked to, to avoid locked-in stresses. All slag to be removed and backing runs made on all shell and deck welding. All finished welds to be sound, uniform and substantially free from inclusions, porosity, undercutting and other defects. All exposed welding and all members in fore peak that are welded to shell shall be double continuous. Where plate edge gaps are found to be excessive, filling in pieces, liners or packing pieces are not to be used except with the permission of the Owner. X-rays of the welds are to be taken; the number and location shall be as directed by Classification surveyor. 1.7 MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP All materials to be new and workmanship of highest quality. All steel plates and sections and anchoring equipment to be class certificated. 1.8 SUBSTITUTION Where specified material or equipment is not available, Builder may substitute equivalents approved by the Classification Society. Owner shall be given prior notice of all intended substitutions. 1.9 INSPECTION Throughout the construction period and at any time prior to delivery, Classification Surveyor, Owner's representatives and Consultants are to be given free access, within normal working hours, to the Builder's yard to effect supervision and inspection TEST Prior to delivery, the hull and other fittings shall be thoroughly tested to Classification surveyor's satisfaction DELIVERY Technical acceptance of the vessel shall be taken afloat alongside Builder's yard in country of build, after which the vessel shall be delivered to the Buyer, afloat in Singapore, upon completion of survey for any damage incurred during delivery voyage. SECTION 3 - DECK MACHINERY & EQUIPMENT 3.1 GENERAL All deck machinery and equipment shall be supplied and installed to Classification requirements and to their surveyor's satisfaction and shall include at least the hereunder. 3.2 DECK FITTINGS Page 3 of 5
4 3.2.1 MANHOLES Manhole covers of 600x400 mm clear opening in accordance with Dwg. NYS-3, Sht 2 of 2, to be fitted for access to every void space. Those inboard of the sideboards to be of flush type. Those outboard of the sideboards to be of raised type MOORING BOLLARDS Fifteen (15) single post bollards of 300mm nominal diameter as detailed on Dwg. NYS 8, to be arranged as shown on Dwg. NYS 1 General Arrangement Plan TOWING BRACKETS Two (2) towing brackets in accordance with Dwg. NYS-9 to be fitted forward and two (2) at the aft VERTICAL LADDERS Vertical ladders to be fitted in every void space NAVIGATION LIGHTS Two solar battery type navigation side lights to be fitted on stands, one on each side. One stern navigation light, solar battery type, to be fitted at aft ANCHORING EQUIPMENT To Classification requirements but not less than the following: x 2850 kg stockless bower anchor in accordance with Class Rules or 1 x2400 to 2500 kg AC14 high holding power anchor proposed by Builder. - 1 x 247m anchor chain of 42mm diameter grade U3 stud link chain, minimum breaking strength kgf. Class notation for anchoring equipment is not required, but certification is. Anchor chain to be stowed in chain locker (see Dwg. NYS 6). Guide roller and devil s claws to be provided to hold the anchor tail chain when anchor is stowed ANCHOR WINDLASS / WINCH One (1) air cooled diesel engine or diesel hydraulic driven windlass, at Owner s option, capable of at least 11 tonne pull at first layer to be supplied and fitted. Windlass barrel capacity to be sufficient for the length and size of retrieving wire specified below. Engine may be of Perkin, VM or equivalent. Windlass to be inside a winch house with theft-resistant locking arrangement, drawing provided by Designer. Windlass gypsy capacity 42mm dia. x U3 chain Winch drum capacity 32mm dia x 100m wire rope TOWING EQUIPMENT The following towing equipment to be supplied and fitted by Builder. - 2 towing bridle of 38 mm diameter grade 2 stud link chain cable, each leg approximately 5m. - 2 monkey face for attachment of towing bridle and towline c/w necessary shackles. - 4 x 170m polypropylene mooring rope, minimum breaking strength kgf. - 4 towing brackets in accordance with Dwg. NYS-9, two (2) forward and two (2) aft. - 2 x 500 mm nominal size Panama chock. - 1 x 100m x 32mm dia. retrieving wire rope DECK FITTINGS The barge shall have the following deck fittings: - 8 nos. flush type watertight manholes of 600 x 400 mm - 18 nos. raised type watertight manholes of 600 x 400 mm Page 4 of 5
5 - 26 nos. vertical steel ladders for access to under-deck voids - 2 nos. navigation light stands - 15 nos. mooring bollards, 300 mm diameter Bolts and nuts of manholes shall be AISI 316 stainless steel. All manholes shall have recessed hand holds to facilitate closure and removal. Vertical ladders shall have at least 300 mm width. Strings shall be at least 100 x 9.5 mm flat bars and rungs shall be 19mm square bars arranged with one sharp edge up. All ladders shall be bolted to structure, to permit easy removal whenever desired LUGS Steel lugs welded to deck for lashing tyre fenders to be arranged 6 feet apart at sides and stern. Tyre fenders lashed by chains to be supplied and arranged at 6 feet intervals NAME AND DRAFT MARKS The name of the barge is to be welded and painted on the bow, port and starboard. The name and port of registry are to be welded on and painted on the stern. All letters are to be not less than 300mm in height. Port of Registry to be 200 mm in height. The draft marks are to be marked in metres in Arabic numerals. The numbers are to be 100 mm high, spaced 100 mm apart and the bottom edge of each figure is to correspond to the exact draft indicated by that figure. For guidance see Dwg. NYS-10. SECTION 4 - PAINTING, CATHODIC PROTECTION & PRESERVATION 4.1 PAINTING All steelwork is to be grit blasted to SA 2 1/2 and cleaned to as high a standard as possible in order to remove all dust and mill scale, prior to painting. All steel surfaces are to be free from grease and free from moisture before priming coats and subsequent coats are applied. All coats are to be thoroughly dry before further coats are applied on top. A good build-up of paint is to be ensured at all welded butts, seams and faying surfaces. All steel surfaces with damaged paintwork shall be power brushed clean and re-painted before final coat is applied. The paint scheme shall be as recommended by HEMPEL. Paintwork shall be guaranteed by paint manufacturer for 3 years. The external hull shall be coated with an epoxy based system. The internals of all void spaces and the sideboard shall be painted with conventional paint. Internal hull shall be painted with one coat of primer (China paint). 4.2 CATHODIC PROTECTION Zinc anodes to be fitted to protect the external hull below the waterline against galvanic corrosion. Approximately 100 pieces of 10 kg zinc anodes of bolt on type to be fitted in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. The anodes are not to be painted.
