1 ADDENDUM NO. 1 Project: SCGSAH Music Building Addition 15 University Street Greenville, SC State Project No: H MJ DP3 Project No: Date: 23 February 2019 To: All Bid Document Holders This Addendum, consisting of 4 pages, forms a part of the contract documents dated 6 February 2018 and modifies the bidding documents with amendments and additions noted below. Acknowledge receipt of this addendum in the space provided in the bid form. Failure to do so may render the bid unresponsive. GENERAL 1. The mandatory pre-bid conference was held at the SCGSAH Visitor s Center on 22 February The list of attendees is attached to this addendum. 2. The OSE representative reviewed the bidding and insurance requirements per the current Manual for Planning and Execution of State Permanent Improvements. 3. The SCGSAH project manager reviewed the nature of the residential school in conjunction with safety and site concerns. 4. A site map showing available layout area at County Square is attached to this addendum. 5. The architectural representative generally reviewed special requirements of the specifications as far as tree protection, rock removal and testing and inspections. Refer to the project manual s individual sections for specifics. 6. The last addendum will be issued no later than March 2nd at the end of the day. All attendees will receive all addenda electronically. The last day for contractors to submit questions is March 1st at 5:00 pm. The last day for substitution requests is February 26 th at 5:00 pm. All requests and questions are to be sent to lcardenas@dp3architects.com. 7. There will be an opportunity to do an additional escorted site walk on Tuesday February 27 th at 10 am or Thursday February 29 th at 1 pm. Meet at the Visitors Center to sign in. PROJECT MANUAL 1. Sections Steel Sound Control Door Assemblies, Sound Control Wood Door Assemblies ADD 1.09 Warranties: Provide manufacturer s standard ten year warranty. DELETE 3.04 Field Quality Control paragraph B. An independent testing agency is not required. The field services representative from the manufacturer indicated in paragraph A is acceptable. 9. Section Steel Acoustical Window Frames ADD 1.09 Warranties: Provide manufacturer s standard ten year warranty. REPLACE in paragraph 3.03 Field Quality Control paragraph A with: Engage and pay for the field services of manufacturer's authorized representative to: 1. 3 2. Test all components through a minimum of ten complete cycles of operation. 3. Verify each component is correctly installed. 4. Direct installer in adjusting components for correct operation. 5. Issue certified statement of compliance of installed door and frame assemblies to Architect-approved shop drawings. 6. Instruct Owner's maintenance personnel in correct operation and maintenance procedures for components of door and frame assemblies 10. Section Gypsum Board Assemblies ADD: to 2.02 Board Materials F. Exterior Sheathing Board: Sizes to minimize joints in place; ends square cut. 1. Mold Resistance: Score of 10, when tested in accordance with ASTM D Glass Mat Faced Sheathing: Glass mat faced gypsum substrate as defined in ASTM C1177/C1177M. 3.Regular Board Thickness: 1/2 inch. 4.Edges: Square. 5.Glass Mat Faced Products: a. ISSUE Plenum Barrier Detail by Thorburn Associates that was omitted from print files. DRAWINGS 1. Drawing T1.1 Title Sheet DELETE S2.0 Walkway Plan and Details from the Drawing Index. 2. Drawings A7.1, A7.2, A7.3 MODIFY all wall exterior wall sections to show sheathing on closure stud wall on top of masonry to truss per sketch ASKA-1. QUESTIONS FROM THE CONTRACTORS 1. Detail 10/A302 shows a vinyl acoustical barrier detail. The drawings show a framed wall with batt insulation at the top of perimeter CMU walls to infill walls at the trusses. Is the vinyl barrier required at these locations? If this is not the SCGSAH Music Building Addition Page - 3
4 intended location confirm the required locations. If not will a 6 mil reinforced plastic be acceptable? RESPONSE: The intention of the vinyl acoustical barrier is to provide a methodology for the contractor to install a acoustical separation without extending the interior masonry walls up to the deck. There are multiple trusses, ducts, piping etc that would make a cmu wall to deck difficult to construct and seal. The contractor has the option to extend as many interior masonry walls as possible up to the deck. Refer to the drawings and Plenum detail for additional information on penetrations through the acoustical vinyl. At the exterior walls, there is no requirement for the vinyl acoustical barrier material. At the short infill walls at the exterior the weather barrier is to extend up the face of the masonry over the sheathing to the roof deck. 18 SECTION ACOUSTICAL VINYL BARRIERS 1.01 PART 1 GENERAL A. SUMMARY 1. This section includes the following: a. Acoustical Vinyl Barriers B. SUBMITTALS 1. Shop Drawings: Show fabrication and installation details for Vinyl Barriers. 2. Submittals: Furnish 8 1/2 x 11 samples. 3. Product Test Report: From a qualified testing agency indicating Vinyl Barriers comply with requirements. 4. Product Certificates: Signed by manufacturer certifying that the products furnished comply with requirements. C. QUALITY ASSURANCE 1. Manufacturer Qualification: Manufacture shall have a minimum of 5 years experience in production of specified products and shall furnish supporting documentation showing completed jobs of approximately the same size and scope. 2. Strength Reports: Provide Noise Barriers with the following characteristics as per ASTM D412 and D1004. a. Tensile Strength: at least 220 Lb/in 2 b. Elongation: at least 140% c. Tear Strength: 40Lb/in 3. Acoustical Test Report: Provide acoustical test report from a qualified testing agency indicating the Noise Barrier meets a STC value of at least 25 per ASTM E-90 & E 413. D. DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING 1. Protect Vinyl Barriers from excessive moisture when shipping, storing, and handling.
