1 PART 1 - GENERAL SECTION MULTIPLE CONTRACT SUMMARY 1.01 SCOPE OF WORK A. This Section includes a summary of each Contract, including responsibilities for coordination and temporary facilities and controls. B. Specific requirements for Work of each Contract are also indicated in individual Specification Sections and on Drawings. C. Related Requirements: 1. Section "Summary of Work" for the Work covered by Contract Documents, restrictions on use of Project site, phased construction, coordination with occupants, and work restrictions. 2. Section "Temporary Facilities and Controls" for specific requirements for temporary facilities and controls. 3. Refer to each Section in every Division for further explanation of Work Scopes for various Prime Contracts, especially Divisions 03, 07, 11, 13, and 31 where work is specified for more than one Prime Contract DEFINITIONS AND ABBREVIATIONS A. Permanent Enclosure: As determined by Architect, the condition at which roofing is insulated and weathertight; exterior walls are insulated and weathertight; and all openings are closed with permanent construction or substantial temporary closures equivalent in weather protection to permanent construction. B. Abbreviations used in this Section relate to various Contracts and Contractors and are as follows: 1. GC: General Construction Contract. 2. HC: Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Contract. 3. PC: Plumbing Contract. 4. EC: Electrical Contract. Issued for Construction

2 1.03 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS OF CONTRACTS A. Contract Documents consist of project manual, drawings, and modifications as defined within the Conditions of the Contract. Each Contractor shall be responsible for reviewing the entire set of Contract Documents to determine what specification Sections and Drawings are applicable to their Contract work. Perform Contract Work identified anywhere within the Contract Document set. B. Extent of Contract: Unless the Agreement contains a more specific description of the Work of each Contract, requirements indicated on Drawings and in Specification Sections determine which Contract includes a specific element of Project. 1. Unless otherwise indicated, the work described in this Section for each Contract shall be complete systems and assemblies, including products, components, accessories, and installation required by Contract Documents. 2. Trenching, backfilling, and other excavation for work of each Contract shall be the work of that Contract. Refer to various Sections in Division Blocking, backing panels, sleeves, and metal fabrication supports for the work of each Contract shall be the work of that Contract. Refer to Sections and Materials to be installed in concrete and unit masonry walls shall be furnished by each Contract and installed by General Construction Contract. 4. Furnishing of access panels for the work of each Contract shall be the work of that Contract. Installation of access panels in various wall or ceiling construction types shall be the work of General Construction Contract. 5. Concrete equipment pads for the work of each Contract shall be the work of that Contract. Various pad requirements are shown on Drawing S-501. Refer to various Sections in Division Roof-mounted equipment curbs for the work of each Contract shall be furnished by that Contract and installed by General Construction Contract. 7. Painting for the work of each Contract shall be the work of General Construction Contract, unless otherwise indicated. 8. Cutting and Patching: Provided under each Contract for its own work. 9. Through-penetration firestopping for the work of each Contract shall be provided by each Contract. Refer to Section Coordination: Coordinate work of each Contract with other Contracts, including but not limited to scheduling, preparation, layout, and installation of primary and secondary materials of each system. a. Where materials supplied by one Contract are installed under another Contract, furnish to installing Contractor in a timely manner and to prevent construction delays. Issued for Construction

3 b. Where delays occur that impact construction schedule and necessitate liquidated damages, Contractor furnishing delayed materials shall be held culpable. 11. Protection: Each Contract shall be responsible for protecting their own installations. Provide final protection and maintain conditions that ensure installed Work is without damage or deterioration at time of Substantial Completion. Comply with manufacturer's written instructions for temperature, relative humidity, and other required project conditions. 12. Louvers that are part of mechanical equipment shall be provided by HVAC Contractor, while balance of louvers shall be provided by General Contractor. 13. Lighting pole bases and bolt patterns are the responsibility of General Contractor in construction of precast system. Electrical Contractor shall coordinate with General Contractor for required bolt patterns based on lighting pole base plate configurations. 14. General Contractor shall provide Gates and parking ramp Fare Gates. Electrical Contractor shall provide communication, power, conduit, and wiring. 15. General Contractor shall provide smoke dampers at top of elevator shafts as part of elevator work scope. Power, control conduit, and wiring shall be provided by Electrical Contractor; run from each smoke damper to Elevator Control Panel. 16. General Contractor shall provide fencing and gates in Section Electrical Contractor shall provide gate operators and other items specified in Section Both Contractors shall coordinate these installation accordingly. C. Temporary Facilities and Controls: In addition to specific responsibilities for temporary facilities and controls indicated in this Section and in Section "Temporary Facilities and Controls," each Contractor is responsible for the following: 1. Installation, operation, maintenance, and removal of each temporary facility necessary for its own normal construction activity, and costs and use charges associated with each facility, except as otherwise provided for in this Section. 2. Plug-in electric power cords and extension cords, supplementary plug-in task lighting, and special lighting necessary exclusively for its own activities. 3. Its own field office, complete with necessary furniture, utilities, and telephone service. 4. Its own storage and fabrication sheds. 5. Temporary enclosures for its own construction activities. 6. Staging and scaffolding for its own construction activities. 7. General hoisting facilities for its own construction activities 8. Waste disposal facilities, including collection and legal disposal of its own hazardous, dangerous, unsanitary, or other harmful waste materials. Issued for Construction

4 9. Progress cleaning of work areas affected by its operations on a daily basis. 10. Secure lockup of its own tools, materials, and equipment. 11. Portable generator to perform welding. 12. Construction aids and miscellaneous services and facilities necessary exclusively for its own construction activities. 13. Excavation support and protection. 14. Barricades, warning signs, and lights. D. Temporary Heating, Cooling, and Ventilation: Refer to Section Temporary Facilities for detailed identification of responsibility during construction period. E. Use Charges: Comply with the following: 1. Temporary Sanitary Facilities: Include the cost for sewer service use by all parties engaged in construction activities at Project site in the General Construction Contract. 2. Water Service: Owner will pay for monthly consumption use charges for water service by all entities engaged in construction activities at Project site for project duration. 3. Electric Power Service: Owner will pay for monthly consumption use charges for electric power service by all entities engaged in construction activities at Project site for project duration. 4. Communication Services: Each Contractor shall include the cost for data, internet, and telephone services to their own construction trailer at Project site for project duration. F. Utilities: 1. Each Contractor shall be responsible for various temporary and permanent utilities associated with their work and trade and are as defined elsewhere in this Section as follows: a. General Contractor: Article b. HVAC Contractor: Article c. Plumbing Contractor: Article d. Electrical Contractor: Article Where a piece of equipment or system provided by one Contractor requires a MEP and related connection, conform to following work responsibility: a. Contractor who furnishes the equipment or system shall install that piece of equipment or system, unless otherwise indicated. b. Any MEP work within the equipment or system shall be provided by Contractor providing that piece of equipment or system. c. Source of utility for that piece of equipment or system shall be provided by that MEP Contractor. d. Final connection between that piece of equipment or system and source of MEP shall be made by that MEP Contractor. Issued for Construction

HVAC Coordination Drawings: The HVAC Contractor shall serve as the lead Contractor with respect to producing and submitting HVAC Coordination Drawings, which shall be signed off on by each Prime Contractor prior to submission to the A/E. The Plumbing, Electrical, and General Contractors shall work with the HVAC Contractor to locate and route their respective utility lines, equipment, and structural appurtenances on the HVAC Coordination Drawings GENERAL CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT A. General Construction (GC) Contract shall generally include, but not be limited to, providing the Work indicated on Civil, Architectural, Structural, Liquid Fuel Systems and Equipment Drawings and General Construction related Specifications, summarized herein for the construction of Phase 2. A summary of General Construction work elements include, but are not limited to the following; refer to the entire set of Contract Documents for all General Construction related work. 1. Civil work elements include: a. Temporary facilities including site sanitary, and site construction entrance. b. Demolition of existing structures pavement, and other site features. c. Excavation and removal of underground storage tanks (USTs) and backfilling. d. Site preparation. e. Grading and excavation for construction of new building elements. f. Site improvements. g. Security fencing and gates. h. Modifications to existing site utilities, including storm and sanitary sewers, water supply and distribution lines, and gas lines to a point 5 feet outside the building line. i. Underground storm water detention basins. j. Erosion and sedimentation control. k. Fuel island pre-engineered structure, concrete slabs on grade, liquid fuel lines, and liquid fuel island distribution equipment. l. Fence enclosure with gates around CNG equipment compound area. m. On-grade parking lot. n. Creating test pits for soil sampling by Owner or Owner s agent. 2. Architectural and structural work elements include: a. Demolition of various components of buildings and structures. b. Foundation systems. c. Below-grade building construction, including excavation, backfill, and thermal and moisture protection. d. Floor and roof superstructure systems, including: construction of steel building frame, joists, floor and roof decks; and precast concrete building frame and related components. e. Exterior closure, including masonry, metal stud walls, and metal panel exterior walls, parapets, doors, windows, louvers, and insulated membrane roof system with roof specialties and exterior rain drainage. f. Interior construction, including masonry partitions with metal stud walls in selected areas, doors, interior glazed openings, and interior finishes consisting of painted gypsum board, ceramic tile, resilient flooring, and acoustical ceilings. 6 g. Fit up of restrooms, locker rooms, and break rooms, including toilet accessories, lockers, and casework. h. Furnishings, including casework, window treatments, and floor grilles and mats. i. Stairs, railings, ladders, and other miscellaneous metals. j. Miscellaneous items, including painting of mechanical and electrical work, unless otherwise indicated. k. Conveying systems, including elevators and vehicle lifts. l. Equipment, including the following: 1) Loading dock equipment. 2) Diesel fueling systems. 3) Gasoline fueling systems. 4) Fluids management system. 5) Owner furnished equipment scheduled to be installed by Contractor. m. Liquid Fueling system work elements as indicated. 3. Selective demolition. B. Temporary facilities and controls in the General Construction Contract include, but are not limited to, the following and as referenced in Section Temporary Facilities : 1. Construction Manager s operations trailer. 2. Temporary facilities and controls that are not otherwise specifically assigned to the Plumbing Contract, HVAC Contract, Electrical Contract, and CNG Contract. 3. Sediment and erosion and stormwater control. 4. Unpiped temporary toilet fixtures, wash facilities, and drinking water facilities, including disposable supplies. 5. Temporary enclosure for building exterior, until building is permanently enclosed, except as indicated. 6. Temporary heat until building is permanently enclosed, except as indicated. 7. Temporary roads and paved areas. 8. Temporary traffic control measures onsite and at adjacent roads for construction activities, on-site EMTA bus circulation, and service deliveries. 9. Project identification and temporary signs. 10. General waste disposal facilities. 11. Pest control. 12. Temporary stairs. 13. Temporary fire-protection facilities. 14. Site enclosure fence. 7 15. Security enclosure and lockup. 16. Restoration of facilities used as temporary facilities HVAC CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT A. HVAC Construction (HC) Contract shall generally include, but not be limited to, providing the Work indicated on HVAC Drawings and HVAC related Specifications, summarized herein for the construction of Phase 2. A summary of HVAC work elements include, but are not limited to the following; refer to the entire set of Contract Documents for all HVAC related work. 1. HVAC system equipment, instrumentation, and building automation controls. 2. Exhaust systems. 3. Ductwork and hot- and chilled-water supply piping systems. 4. Vibration isolation. 5. Testing and balancing of all installed systems. 6. Field painting of exterior equipment and damaged factory finishes. 7. Concrete pads, and hangers and supports. 8. Mechanical connections to equipment furnished by other Prime Contracts. 9. Louvers that are part of mechanical equipment shall be provided by HVAC Contractor. 10. Selective demolition. B. Temporary facilities and controls in the HVAC Contract include, but are not limited to, those referenced in Section Temporary Facilities : 1.06 PLUMBING CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT A. Plumbing Construction (PC) Contract shall generally include, but not be limited to, providing the Work indicated on Plumbing Drawings, Fuel System Drawings for lubrication systems and compressed air systems, and related Specifications, summarized herein for the construction of Phase 2. A summary of Plumbing work elements include, but are not limited to the following; refer to the entire set of Contract Documents for all Plumbing related work. 1. Sanitary drainage system including drains, piping, and fittings. Make final connections to site piping provided by General Contractor. 2. Storm drainage piping and fittings and insulation. Make final connections to site piping provided by General Contractor. 3. Domestic Water Distribution System including piping, fittings, valves, pressure regulators, backflow preventers, and plumbing fixtures. Make final connections to site piping provided by General Contractor. Issued for Construction

8 4. Domestic Water Heating System including heaters, piping, circulation pumps, and valves. 5. Piping insulation and identification. 6. Compressed air systems. 7. Lubrication distribution systems including installation of piping between the maintenance building and fuel island, including excavation and backfill. 8. Waste lubrication collection systems. 9. Natural Gas Piping System complete with valves and regulators. 10. Testing and Sterilization of installed domestic water systems. 11. Complete fire suppression systems, including piping, valves, sprinklers, standpipe, and connections to water supply lines. 12. Special plumbing systems, including miscellaneous, hangers, hooks, bracing, mounting, and supports for materials and equipment in following systems. Work scopes by Plumbing Contractor shall include required piping, trenching, bedding, and backfill. a. Compressed air distribution systems b. Natural gas. c. Vehicle Lubrication and Fluid distribution systems. d. Waste lubrication collection systems. 13. Plumbing connections to equipment furnished by other Prime Contracts. Plumbing Contractor shall provide valve for equipment supplier to make connection. 14. Selective demolition. B. Temporary facilities and controls in Plumbing Contract include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Plumbing connections to existing systems and temporary facilities and controls furnished by other Prime Contracts ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT A. Electrical Construction (EC) Contract shall generally include, but not be limited to, providing the Work indicated on Electrical Drawings and Electrical related Specifications, summarized herein for the construction of Phase 2. A summary of Electrical work elements include, but are not limited to the following; refer to the entire set of Contract Documents for all Electrical related work: 1. Coordinate electrical service requirements with power company and provide electrical services from Power Company at locations indicated. 2. Site electrical distribution. Issued for Construction

9 3. Conduit, wire, and field connections for equipment and systems in Divisions Where power and subsequent equipment are in other than Division 16 work, provide conduit, wire, and field connections from power source to disconnect switch and network related connection switch. Conduit, wire, and field connections from EC provided disconnect switch and network related connection switch for motors, controllers, devices, panels, filters, transformers, indicators, and related system equipment shall be provided by appropriate Contractor as specified under Divisions 01, 8, 11, 13, 14, and 21-23, unless otherwise indicated in Contract Documents. 4. Lightning and surge protection equipment wiring at process instrumentation transmitters. 5. Raceway system for Data Highway Cables and specialty cable systems. 6. Raceway system for Fiber Optic Network System and other specialty cable systems. 7. Security system with CCTV cameras, card readers, and security interface system. 8. VoIP telephone system extending existing VoIP telephone system with handsets, speakers and accessories. 9. Power wiring for heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment provided under other related Divisions, including power wiring for 120 Volt unit heater motors and thermostats. 10. Precast manholes, covers, handholes, and light pole bases. 11. Modifications to existing control systems including installation of auxiliary motor starter contacts, relays, switches, as required to provide control functions or inputs. 12. Coordinate with Telecommunications Service Provider to provide telephone services from service provider. 13. Coordinate with Telecommunications Service Provider to provide internet services to facility using Cable. 14. Testing of electrical equipment. 15. Set electrical protective devices in accordance with NETA standards and in accordance with protective coordination study. 16. Provide Short Circuit, System Protective Device Coordination Analysis and Arc Fault Analysis. 17. Gas monitoring system for detection and alarming of flammable and toxic gases including conduit, wiring and terminations to terminate alarm status information from gas monitoring system to Fire Alarm System and to Building Management System (BMS). 18. Electrical connections to equipment furnished by other Prime Contracts. 19. Selective demolition. Issued for Construction

10 20. Concrete encased duct banks including excavation, backfill, concrete encasement, and stone base complete as detailed on electrical drawings. 21. Emergency generator system and related accessories. B. Temporary facilities and controls in Electrical Contract include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Electric power service and distribution. 2. Lighting, including site lighting. 3. Electrical connections to existing systems and temporary facilities and controls furnished by other Prime Contracts.
