1 7500P Small Field Pivot A MACHINE DESIGNED FOR FIELDS 60 ACRES AND BELOW The 7500P is available to meet customer s needs when smaller tracts of land require cost effective, efficient irrigation. Taking design cues from its predecessors, the Zimmatic 9500P and 8500P machines, the 7500P provides the strength and efficiency you expect from Zimmatic, with standard towers providing 10.5 of crop clearance and external Uni-Knuckle joints this machine is ready for any cropping condition. 2 Key Features of the 7500P Machine Pivot Point The 7500P machine utilizes a compact pivot point, which has a smaller footprint allowing for less concrete to be used when constructing the pivot pad. The design features are consistent with the compact point used on 8500P machines with the exception of the 5 riser pipe and 3 x 3 x ¼ legs. Other key features include: Hot dip galvanized structural steel legs for stability Multiple cross ties for added support Full height construction for consistent crop clearance Lindsay exclusive external collector ring Large pivot bearing surface Cost effective 5 riser assembly The Valley 5000 machine utilizes a four leg compact pivot point design as well, however, this point is shorter than the machines towers, causing inconsistent crop clearance as the first span runs uphill. The Reinke design utilizes only three legs and zero cross ties for support. Both designs utilize an internal collector ring that blocks a portion of the riser pipe and can make routine service more difficult. 3 Key Features of the 7500P Machine Spans The backbone of the 7500P machine is its span design. Taking a cue from Zimmatic s flagship 9500P machine, the 7500P incorporates many design techniques that have helped set Zimmatic machines apart from the competition for over 25 years: Common pipe lengths Ensure that any pipe fits anywhere within the span simplifying assembly and service 4-1/2 diameter 11 Gauge Pipe Provides superior performance and strength; designed to fit the water application needs of fields 60 acres and below. 198 Maximum Span Lengths Provides the flexibility to assemble machines up to 792 in length with just 4 towers. Overhang lengths from 19.5 to 78 Flexible options to irrigate additional acres. Flow Drilled Outlets Consistent with other Zimmatic machines deliver a more uniform, high strength sprinkler or gooseneck drop connection. Common Truss Design Utilizes similar truss angles in all spans for maximum parts commonality. Formed Truss Plates Add rigidity and strength to the span. Molded Head Truss Rods Provide a consistent, high strength span support and truss connection. Formed Truss Rod Pockets Spread the span s load evenly over a large surface area with high strength hardware connections. Both Valley and Reinke offer machines with competitive span designs to the 7500P. The Valley 5000 has a 55.9 maximum overhang length. The Reinke 4-1/2 machine has a maximum span length limitation of just 175 with overhang lengths limited to just 42. 4 Key Features of the 7500P Machine When it comes to span connections the Valley 5000 and Reinke 4-1/2 machines utilize a similar solution, both use a version of Reinke s traditional internal hook and eye style connection. The internal pipe connection creates a blockage within the pipeline which can increase friction loss within the machine. This is an even greater concern in smaller 4-1/2 and 5 pipeline diameters. The hook and eye design can also allow spans to pitch and roll more freely which may lead to instability in rough or excessive sloping terrain. Finally, maintenance is made more difficult as a boomtruck is required to support the pivot end of machine spans during service of the flexible boot connection. Span Connection A key feature that sets all Zimmatic machines apart from the competition is the Uni-Knuckle joint design, and the 7500P is no exception. Though the machine may be smaller, the Uni-Knuckle design remains constant. Providing the maximum amount of support necessary to keep the machine running and standing tall in all types of terrain. Benefits of the Uni-Knuckle design include: Full 360 Support The Uni-Knuckle has four high-strength bolts, providing support on all sides of the joint. Provides maximum stability in rolling or aggressive terrain. External Connection The Uni-Knuckle joint connects the spans outside of the pipeline leaving the pipe free from blockage to better manage friction losses. 5 Key Features of the Z-II Machine Towers The tower design on the all new 7500P machine incorporates a blend of new materials with similar design techniques to those used on Zimmatic 9500P and 8500P machines: High Strength Tower Legs Made from structural steel and hot-dip galvanized on site at Lindsay, this material is designed for longevity in the field. Clearance for Taller Crops The 7500P s towers provide a full 10.5 of crop clearance, an additional foot of clearance compared to standard Zimmatic towers, for added flexibility in varied cropping conditions. Crossed Tower Stabilizers The 2 x 2 x 3/16 crossed tower stabilizers on the 7500P provide significant support by absorbing loads from the tower and passing them evenly through the truss structure. Wide Tower Leg to Pipe Connection Similar to traditional Zimmatic machines the 7500P provides the industry s widest tower leg to pipeline connection. Transferring tower loads to a larger cross section of pipe material for a stronger, longer lasting machine. The Valley 5000 machine s towers may look similar to the 7500P but there are differences in the design that are important to note. Narrow Tower-To-Pipe Connection passes tower forces through a smaller area. Light wall tube, uncrossed tower braces attach to a small section of the pipeline, concentrating all forces to a limited area. The Reinke 4-1/2 machine s towers are similar to that of other Reinke machines. Several key differences in design create a distinct performance advantage for the 7500P, including. Single leg tower design forces significant tower loads through a 6 area on the pipeline. Thin wall tube, uncrossed tower braces force loads to one side of the truss structure or the other. 6 Key Features of the 7500P Machine Driveline The field proven, industry leading centerdrive and gearbox combination unique to Zimmatic 9500P and 8500P machines also comes standard on the all new 7500P. In addition, for added machine flexibility, a lower cost centerdrive from UMC and Extreme Duty final drive gearbox are also available. These key items make up the Zimmatic drive-line: Lindsay Centerdrive The horizontal centerdrive was developed originally by Lindsay engineers. Manufactured in Lindsay, NE the centerdrive provides unmatched performance and longevity with its steel stator housing and triple-reduction square cut gear design. An optional UMC center-drive is also available which has been produced to Lindsay s exacting specifications. The rugged AT gearbox Standard on all 7500P machines providing the same quality performance as other Zimmatic products. The industry s largest expansion chamber and 2-3/16 output shaft length contribute to longer bearing and seal life. The value priced Extreme Duty gearbox is also available as an option. Valley utilizes drive-line components from their lower spec Valley 7000 machine to power the Valley This includes VS7000 center-drives and gearboxes These designs incorporate. Continued use of the helical gear design in the VS7000 center-drive with a longer stator length, and steel stator housing. VS7000 gearboxes which incorporate an, open expansion chamber design with a 4 output shaft length that can stress seals and bearings. The Reinke 4-1/2 machine utilizes standard Reinke center-drives and gearboxes. The Reinke gearbox is a dated design with a small expansion chamber.
