10 Metal products - system index Introduction Gypframe metal systems As the backbone of British Gypsum high performance systems, Gypframe components must be used to qualify for our unique SpecSure lifetime system warranty. SpecSure guarantees that the system and its components are of the highest quality and have been tested at a UKAS-accredited fire, acoustic and structural test laboratory for their compatibility and ability to provide the specified performance level throughout the life of the building. It provides reassurance in the unlikely event of system or component failure, giving the installer and building owner peace of mind for the future. All Gypframe metal components are produced to the latest European manufacturing standard EN 14195, under an ISO 9001 certified Quality Management System, and under ISO 14001: 2004 Environmental Management Systems. The EN standard does not cover component design or system performance, therefore other products manufactured to this standard cannot be substituted into British Gypsum systems without risk of system performance failure. This section is a guide to the Gypframe profiles and accessories available as standard, upgraded or optional components in the most popular British Gypsum systems. System focus SpecSure Unique to British Gypsum, the SpecSure lifetime system warranty is designed to give you total confidence that the systems you have chosen will meet the most rigorous of building requirements. 42 Metal products Introduction Gypframe metal products The modern, engineered alternative to traditional timber and blockwork construction, Gypframe-based wall, ceiling and floor systems are quicker and easier to install, whilst meeting the highest performance requirements. Up to 50% lighter than equivalent timber systems, and up to 70% lighter than blockwork, Gypframe metal products are easier to transport and offer a high strength to weight ratio for guaranteed performance and long life. Gypframe components are easy to cut on site, non-flammable, won t rot, twist or warp. They can be stored outside and installed in any weather, making it easier to schedule work. The patented UltraSTEEL process gives the components greater strength, makes fixing easier and improves screw retention and pull-out by up to 20%. That s why only systems built using Gypframe metal components qualify for the British Gypsum SpecSure lifetime system warranty peace of mind that they will perform to specification throughout their entire installed life. Product focus NEW Gypframe folded edge range expansion Following the popular introduction of the folded edge to our Gypframe Standard Floor & Ceiling Channel range last year, we are expanding the range so that all Gypframe Deep Flange Floor & Ceiling Channels, and a Gypframe Angle now have folded edges. Incorporating a fold onto the leading edge of a profile provides a safer working edge without increasing the overall footprint of the partition. 40

43 This section of the Trade Catalogue contains all the individual Gypframe profiles and Gypframe metal accessories. These are identified in the product index with either P for a Gypframe profile or A for a Gypframe accessory. For identification of all the components required for any of British Gypsum s wall, ceiling, floor or encasement systems, please use the System index section of this Trade Catalogue on page 9. The System index will help you to identify the essential system components, system upgrade components and optional components designed to enhance system performance. Gypframe metal products have been developed and tested to provide total compatibility and integrated performance as part of British Gypsum warranted wall, ceiling, floor and encasement systems. We therefore recommend the use of the System index to ensure that customers are provided with all of the correct components required to satisfy the conditions of our SpecSure lifetime system warranty. Metal products Gypframe profiles are manufactured using the patented UltraSTEEL process and conform to EN 14195, providing superior performance to systems using metal of equivalent gauge. 56 Plasterboards Introduction Gyproc plasterboards The widest range of high quality plasterboards to meet differing performance requirements for walls, ceilings, floors, partitions and encasements for any type of building. The Gyproc plasterboard product range provides solutions for enhanced moisture, fire, acoustic, impact and thermal performance. For major projects, Gyproc plasterboards can be supplied in bespoke lengths, reducing waste and board cutting on site and contributing to improved environmental performance and site health & safety. Bespoke length boards can reduce the amount of material required, which in turn reduces deliveries and vehicle movements, helping to reduce the overall carbon footprint of the project. Product focus Further improvements to manual handling guidance In 2011 we introduced manual handling guidance on all our Gyproc plasterboard products 1. Following customer feedback, and to further improve this guidance, we have now introduced the board weight in this Trade Catalogue. This is to ensure board weight is clear for loading, order placement, movement on site, and secondary movement at all points throughout the supply chain. NB All board weights are accurate at time of publication and will be reviewed / updated as required. 1 Excluding Gyproc DUPLEX and Gyproc ThermaLine products. Example of board printing. 54
