2 About JLIA Japan Lumber Importers (JLIA) A voluntary membership association timber import, 63 years since the establishment in To enhance intimate relationship between timber importers, to necessary activity with a result research and investigation. to present comments to Government & other relative industries. Membership: 54 companies, composed general trading houses, timber trading companies, makers, wholesalers, etc. 40 those are active importers. Sustainability The timbers must be harvested from the forest under the management sustainable forest. 4 JLIA Authorized Supplier Year 2004~2005: Surveyed the overseas traceability system and documents related to timber shipment, in cooperation with Forestry Agency. Year 2006: Based on the guideline by the Forestry Agency, JLIA established Authorization System and started registration JLIA Authorized Supplier. Year 2010: Submitted a request letter to overseas industry associations requesting for supplying Goho- Wood (including CoC certified timber). 39 members are registered as JLIA Authorized Supplier as now, which imported volume accounts for 97~98 % total imported volume by all members. 17 Promoting the Use Wood and GOHO-WOOD JLIA reconfirmed its commitment to the positive procurement and domestic supply GOHO-WOOD. In the sense the legality certification, the method by Authorization system has the same effect as the method FM & CoC certification system.
