2 DLH s environmental and social commitment For the forest, for the people and for the future In a time where the world s forests are increasingly being threatened by illegal logging and high rates of deforestation, DLH is firmly committed to the responsible sourcing of wood products. We want to know about the origin of the wood products we source as well as about the social and environmental conditions in which they have been produced. To help achieve this goal, we have established the Good Supplier Programme. Over the years, we have also worked actively with some of our suppliers and have assisted them in obtaining third party verification of legality and certification. At DLH, we conduct our daily business operations with respect for social and ethical values. Responsibility forms the roof of our house of values. Therefore it is the Group s ambition not only to strengthen its position as one of the world s leading suppliers of wood and timber products, but also to be a leader in the supply of wood and timber products produced in accordance with environmental and social standards. THE GOOD SUPPLIER PROGRAMME Tool used to collect and assess information on how suppliers source, process and trade wood. Information collected primarily on the origin and legality of the wood procured, as well as on verification and certification. Implemented in high risk countries At DLH, we have long term standards. We have been in the wood business for more than 100 years and we would like to continue doing business in the future. We were among the first ones in the industry to introduce an environmental policy in 1991 and we have continuously developed our policy and our corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy. We take seriously our social role in protecting the world forests, as they provide a number of valuable resources to the global community. From wildlife habitats to carbon storage and climate regulation, the world s forests are indispensable for the people and for the future. STRESSING OUR COMMITMENT To further stress our commitment to responsible business, we have joined the United Nations Global Compact the world s largest initiative for companies and organizations working actively on CSR. We have committed to integrating 10 universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption into daily business operations and to report annually on progress made in implementing these principles. 4 Logs, Sawn Timber, semi-finished and finished products We have a wide range of timber, and some of our main products include: Asian sawn timber and finished products Our procurement bases in Indonesia and Vietnam source and produce sawn timber, laminated scantlings and semi finished and finished products, including our very successful IDECK branded range of outdoor decking. African sawn timber This includes all of the most commonly traded species in West Africa. Our procurement companies in Ivory Coast, Congo, Cameroon, Gabon, Liberia and Ghana handle shipments of Mahoganies, Iroko, Wawa, Niangon, Apa, Sapelli, Okoume, Ekki and numerous other species. South American sawn timber From our group s largest operation in Brazil, we supply Cedro, Pau Amarelo, Marupa, Cambara, Jatobá and other fine timbers for furniture, joinery and flooring. European sawn timber European Beech, Ash and Oak, as sawn timber for furniture and joinery production.
