7 COMMUNITY SAFETY PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM Part- Violent Crimes The Community Safety Partnership (CSP) Program began as a partnership between the LAPD and the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) in October of. Currently, the program encompasses housing communities within Hollenbeck, Newton and Southeast Area. The program was designed to improve and strengthen the relationship between residents of Los Angeles housing communities and the LAPD. Since the program s inception, officers have implemented over twenty CSP youth programs. The results of these programs include mental health services to address untreated trauma, participation in self-respect building programs for children, alternatives to booking and entrance into the judicial system for children, and community building through sports and productive competition. This relationship-based policing model focuses on education and problem solving before enforcement. This allows for full-time, dedicated police officers to be assigned to seven housing communities within the City of Los Angeles. On a daily basis, these police officers walk foot beats, building relationships with the residents and decreasing community fear. As a result, the program provides members of the community a means to safely pass along crime information to law enforcement, aiding in the reduction of violent crimes.
