3 THE FUTURE IS ELECTRIC The starting point for Eltorque was an idea of implementing permanent magnet motor technology into an electric actuator. We developed a groundbreaking concept more than 20 years ago, which was introduced to the maritime market. The goal was, and still is, to provide our customers with simplistic and maintenance free products. As we added new products into our portfolio, based on the same philosophy, Eltorque became one of the frontrunners in the market. We have established a very strong foothold in the maritime industry, and going forward we will continue our efforts to strengthen our position in onshore markets. We believe the reason for Eltorque s ability to expand is the continuous focus on developing our concept around functional high-quality products. We aim to exploit the full potential of our core markets with dedicated products and solutions. In the time ahead, we will simplify our customers everyday operations in a number of new markets. The aim is that Eltorque, through focusing on the entire value chain and actively meeting the market demand, will be able to reduce our customers cost as well as offer higher product quality. In parallel with a strong focus on maritime industry, Eltorque will increase the attention on onshore markets. The actuators are highly intelligent units with no need for maintenance, defined for long-lasting operation. The end-users are provided with a cost-effective solution securing carefree remote control of valves. Our goal will always be to provide our customers with reliable, cost effective and user friendly products for a wide range of applications. 5 APPLICATIONS ONSHORE ENERGY We live in a time with increasing focus on and demand for green energy. The energy that we want to utilize should be made available through recycling of energy from nature. Eltorque contributes to a better environment through delivering electrical actuator systems that enable such recycling and in addition give the user benefits in reduced use of resources. Hydro Power is a good example. Energy in waterfalls is transformed into electrical power. Eltorque delivers electric actuator solutions for use in dam buildings that control the amount of water to be let into the penstock. These dam buildings are often located in desolated areas, and the use of reliable and maintenance free actuator systems from Eltorque provides a resource-efficient solution for the energy supplier. District Heating is recycling of energy through burning of waste from households and forests or benefitting from waste energy in industry. Water is heated and then distributed in pipelines from the heating plant to private or public buildings, substituting fossil fuel. In such systems, there is a need for regulation of both temperature and flow of the water. Eltorque delivers electrical actuator systems that enable detailed remote control of water temperature and flow. PROCESS CONTROL WATER TREATMENT Many industrial operations require accurate control of gasses, liquids or chemicals during the different processing steps that eventually lead to the final product. This control is carried out by actuators. Electric actuator systems from Eltorque has multiple advantages to pneumatic or hydraulic actuators in process control systems. The actuators can be connected through either a bus or a direct wire, in both cases an effective and cost-saving solution. In addition, the actuators control unit is built around a digital signal processor that enables high level of accuracy in opening or closing of the valves. With built-in signal processor, no mechanical configuration is required, making the Eltorque actuators practically maintenance free. In beer brewing, the levels of water, gas, temperature and chemicals have to be monitored and controlled down to the smallest details in all phases of the brewing process. Clean, safe water is vital for everyday life, both for humans, animals and fish. There are several methods to apply in order to make the water acceptable for a specific end-use, such as filtration, adding chemicals and oxygenation. A commonality for all types of water treatment is the need for an accurate control of temperature and flow of the water. One example is Recirculating Aquaculture Systems, RAS. RAS are indoor, tank-based systems in which fish are grown at high density under controlled environmental conditions. In these systems, the water is recirculated through tanks and a series of water treatments to remove waste products. 6 INTELLIGENT CONTROL The Eltorque solution offers an unsurpassed level of flexibility. Configure parameters like torque, closing speed and positioning quickly and precisely. At the same time, get detailed and real-time status feedback on all valves. These features set our solution apart from all conventional systems based on pneumatics or hydraulics, and the built-in intelligence of our actuators plays a key role. Digital Signal Processors are used along with encoders to exploit the full potential found in the permanent magnet motors and planetary gears. This combination makes our actuators perform with greater precision than the competition, as well as provide the user with more accurate feedback. Getting the specified alarms are also important in case of an emergency. Contrary to the general alarms you ll get with conventional valve control systems, the serial-connected solution by Eltorque provides the user with detailed alarms, e.g. relating to positioning, temperature, torque or communication.
