Successful R&I in Europe 2015 : 7th European Networking Event 5-6 November 2015, Dusseldorf, Germany Workshop Energy 5 November 2015, Session 2 SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT OF WATER ENVIRONMENT IN ANTHROPOPRESSURE AREA FOR MUNICIPAL PURPOSES, WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT AND UTILIZATION OF RENEWABLE AND WASTE ENERGY SOURCES Horizon 2020 European Union Funding for Research & Innovation Prof. dr hab. Barbara Namysłowska-Wilczyńska, Faculty of Civil Engineering Prof. dr hab. eng. Artur Wilczyński, Faculty of Electrical Engineering Wrocław University of Technology, Wrocław, Poland
Results from European RTD projects 2 "Sustainable Bridges: Assessment for Future Traffic Demands and Longer Lives" project in under the 6th Framework Programme of the EU ; International scientificresearch project. "Innovative measures and effective methods for improving the safety and durability of buildings and transport infrastructure in the strategy for sustainable development ; Research project, under the "Innovative Economy Operational Programme". "The guidelines and procedures for monitoring bridges"-project, financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Programme "Innovative Economy" ( ). Hydrogeochemical model for the underground water intake area in Kłodzko region. Wroclaw University of Technology, Wrocław 2012, funded by the NRDC. "Identification and hydrogeochemical models Kłodzko River Basin ( ). Energy development strategy in Lower Silesia, 2007/2013. Energy security" No. PBZ-MEiN -1/2/2006 Consortium of Universities. Poltegor Institute of Opencast Mining have several patents on remediation, cleaning, storage in underground geological structures. Renewable energy sources opportunity for clean air. Wrocław 2014, p. 24. Renewable sources of energy within easy reach Wrocław 2015, p. 40.
European Union Policy Preferences EU policy preferences apply to following resources: water energy food Subject of our interest: resources critical for functioning of state (Crisis Management Act of , No. 89, item 590 ) 3 Objective: multi-criteria optimization of resources management to ensure sustainable development of: economic cost effectiveness, environmental friendliness ( low-emission economy ), social acceptability, security of energy supplies.
Project Subject Category: Energy, Water, Environment Topics in future joint Horizont 2020 project Contribution towards solution of social exclusion (elimination) problems (job losses, unemployment, frustration, population migration). Management of areas of closed down Wałbrzych coal mines aimed at: - water storage, - heat recovery, - energy storage, - post-industrial tourism. Solution of water supply problems (issues) measures aimed at: - improving of quality of surface waters and underground waters, - protecting terrain against floodings. 4 Use of local renewable and waste energy sources and their integration into power system, solution of problem connected with increasing role of renewable energy sources, requiring installed capacity flexibility and sufficiency.
Renewable energy sources conversion using mine waters SOLAR THERMALS AND PV COLLECTORS WATER TREATMENT OUTLET MINE UPPER WATER TANK HYDROELECTRIC PLANT SEASONAL HEAT STORAGE HEAT PUMP HEAT PUMP PIPELINES RIVER TURBINE PUMP 5 INFLOW LOWER WATER TANK
Renewable energy sources conversion using mine waters The generalized diagram of energy and water in a closed coal mine is shown on a previous slide: It can be noticed in this scheme: - water treatment plant, - small hydro power plant, - heat pump, - possibly seasonal hot water tank, - sollar thermals. The system would be energy self-sufficient. Alternatively, the solar collectors can be installed in the surface of terrain.
Partners in the proposed research project 6 Polish academic institution Wrocław University of Technology: Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Other domestic (regional) institutions representing Lower Silesia Poltegor - Institute of Open Cast Mining, Wrocław; Wałbrzych Municipality Office, Environmental Protection Department in Wałbrzych, Wałbrzych Association of Water and Sewage Boards, Jedlina-Zdrój Municipality Office, Effective Engineering Soulutions Sp. z o. o. Wrocław Type and role of partners we are seeking: University, Firm or Company, which they are interested in similar topics; Leader or Partner. 7
