Prerequisits: Enrollment in year 3 of Meteorology study field. Vsebina: Predmet sestavljata dva dela: meteorološki del in kemijski del. Kemijski del predmeta se izvaja v okviru predmeta Ozračje in njegova onesnaženost na programu Sanitarnega inženirstva na UL ZF. V okviru predmeta na ZF študenti poslušajo predavanja in opravijo izpit iz kemijskega dela. V okviru meteorološkega dela študenti izdelajo poglobljen seminar o razširjanju onesnaženosti zraka. Za meteorološki del se predavanja ne izvajajo in seminar študentje izdelajo s pomočjo literature, ki jo Content (Syllabus outline): The course consists of two parts: a meteorological part and a chemical part. The chemical part is implemented as part of Air Pollution course performed at Sanitary engineering at UL ZF. During this course the students attend lectures and have an exam. The meteorological part consist of a detailed seminar on Air-pollution dispersion. This part has no lectures and the students prepare the seminar with the use of literature specified by the professor. The students present the seminar which is followed by an exam.

Gaussov model za krajše in kombinirani meteorološko-kemijski numerični modeli širjenja polutantov na daljše razdalje. Lokalno onesnaževanje: stabilnost ozračja, inverzije, lokalna gibanja zraka. Kemijski del Naravni in antropogeni izvori onesnaženosti zraka. Postopki kvalitativnega in kvantitativnega ugotavljanja koncentracij onesnaževal ter njihova karakterizacija. Metode in postopki kontrole in čiščenja odpadnih plinov. Vplivi onesnaženega zraka na zdrave ljudi, živali in rastlin ter poškodbe na materialnih dobrinah. Poseben status in pomen nano delcev v zraku in pri sodobnih tehnologijah ter njihov vpliv na zdravje. Vpliv prometa na kakovost zraka. Vonjave in njihovo ugotavljanje ter sanacija izvorov. Povezanost kakovosti zraka (njegovih kemijskih in fizikalnih lastnosti) in klimatskih sprememb Meteorological part Trajectories and dispersion of pollutants in the air. Gauss model for shorter distances and coupled meteorological-chemical models of pollution dispersion on longer distances. Local air pollution: stability, inversions, local air movement. Chemical part Natural and anthropogenic sources of air pollution. Methods of qualitative and of quantitative evaluation of pollutants concentrations and their characterizations. Methods and technologies of exhaust gasses control. Impacts of polluted air on health of people, animals and vegetation, and damages on material goods. Special properties of nanoparticles in the air and in contemporary technologies, and their health impact. Impact of traffic on air quality. 3 CILJI: Poznavanje pomena atmosfere za nastanek in ohranjanje življenja na Zemlji. Razumevanje temeljnih meteoroloških pojavov in fizikalnih procesov v ozračju. Poznavanje osnov vremenskih, fizikalnih in kemijskih procesov, ki povzročajo onesnaženost ozračja. Sposobnost ocenjevanja škodljivih vplivov onesnaženega zraka na elemente žive in nežive narave. Spoznavanje temeljnih tehnologij za izboljšanje kakovosti zraka pri izvorih in receptorjih in s tem kakovosti življenja. KOMPETENCE: Študent pozna pomen atmosfere za nastanek in ohranjanja življenja na Zemlji, razume temeljne meteorološke pojave in fizikalne procese v ozračju, ki oblikujejo vreme in klimo, pozna osnovne vremenske, fizikalne in kemijske procese, ki povzročajo onesnaženost ozračja, sposoben je oceniti škodljive vplive onesnaženega zraka na elemente žive in nežive narave, pozna temeljne tehnologije za izboljšanje kakovosti zraka pri izvorih in receptorjih in s tem kakovosti življenja. Predvideni študijski rezultati: Razumevanje vremenske in klimatske spremenljivosti. Razumevanje zdravstvenega, ekološkega in ekonomskega vidika kakovosti zraka. OBJRCTIVES: Understanding the role of atmosphere in development and preservation of life on Earth. Understanding basic meteorological phenomena and physical processes in atmosphere. Understanding of basic weather, physical and chemical processes, that influence air pollution. Capability of estimation of harmful effects of air pollution on elements of live and nature. Knowledge on basic technologies for improving air quality at sources and at the receptors, thus improving quality of the life. COMPETENCES Student obtains understanding of the role of atmosphere in development and preservation of life on Earth, understands basic meteorological phenomena and physical processes in atmosphere that govern weather and climate. He/she understands basic weather, physical and chemical processes, that influence air pollution and is capable of estimation of harmful effects of air pollution on elements of environments (life, nature, goods) and perceives the basic technologies for improving air quality at sources and at the receptors, thus improving quality of life. Intended learning outcomes: Understanding weather and climatic variability. Understanding health, ecologic and economic aspect of air quality. Capability of evaluation of weather impacts on pollution dispersion in the air.

4 Sposobnost ocenjevanja stanja vremena in njegov vpliv na širjenje onesnaževal. Sposobnost izbire metode in sredstev za ugotavljanje glavnih onesnaževal ozračja (plini, delci). Sposobnost izdelave načrta in izvajanje postopkov za celovito oceno stanja kakovosti zraka. Uporaba znanja temeljnih področij meteorologije, klimatologije in kemije okolja na konkretne pojave v zvezi s kakovostjo zraka v zaprtih prostorih in zunanjem okolju. Zavedanje posledic človekovih posegov na okolju. Capability of choosing the proper methods and means for determination of main pollutants in the air (gasses, particles). Capability of planning and performing of comprehensive evaluation of air quality. Application of basic principles of meteorology, climatology and chemistry of the environment to actual events of air quality in inside and outside air. Awareness of impacts of anthropogenic impacts on the environment.
