21 Creating a brave new area Sustainable energy - Minewater and OU Campus Cluster APG Arcus: 25 potential buildings to attach till medio 2017 Total m2 floor area Reduction of circa 20 billion m3 natural gas, ton CO2 for heating and ton CO2 for cooling Casus Experience Parkstad important contribution for location O.U., Zuyd University, Arcus en Datacentre. First calculations show a surplus of heat in combination with other locations. How to use this surplus of heat for customers with a heat demand besides a cold demand? 21
22 Creating a brave new area Zero-energy greenhouse OU Campus Typical example of a Sustaining living project m2 in combination with a bio CHP and mine water to provide sustainable heating, cooling and electricity to the buildings on the campus and greenhouse. Utilized for various purposes, such as a 'living lab', production of sustainable and healthy food, hydroponic cultivation, various health aspects, research quality indoor climate Function as hot spot for students on campus, but also for Heerlen s inhabitants. The recently signed EU climate agreement certainly offers good perspectives for this project in Heerlen. Offers development chances for entrepreneurs and centers of expertise and employment opportunities for the local and regional population. 22
