3 Activated Sludge Plant: This process uses dissolved oxygen to promote the growth of biological floc which helps in removing the organic material. 8 Witfontein Plant: Fine bubble aeration is one of the most efficient technologies used for the aeration in effluent treatment plants. In this treatment, air is introduced into the water through aeration. Aeration provides an aerobic environment, which helps in the microbial degradation of organic matters. The purpose of aeration offers two benefits : supply the necessary oxygen to the metabolizing microorganisms helps mixing so that the microorganisms come into contact with the dissolved and suspended organic matter
