1 2 ND INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON SUSTAINABILITY AND RESILIENCE OF BIOENERGY FOR CLIMATE CHANGE: SUPPORT EXAMPLARY SOLUTIONS, BUSINESS MODEL AND ENABLING CONDITIONS CONCEPT NOTE.. MONDAY TO WEDNESDAY, 22 ND TO 24 TH MAY 2017 FIELD TRIP, JEMBRANA - BALI GRAND BALISANI SUITE, CANGGU BALI INDONESIA OVERVIEW Green growth and win-win strategies for sustainable climate action (GREEN-WIN) is an European Comission project that works related to Horizon2020 with topic to linkages between climate change actions and sustainable development. The project aims to identify green solutions that already exist at a specific location in specific sectors, help them spread to other locations and other sectors, and identify how incentive structures should be changed in order to create additional business models and innovations. It will assess the practical feasibility of implementing green growth strategies to meet mitigation, adaptation and sustainability goals. This international workshop is working hand-in-hand with another European Commission projects which is transitions pathways and risk analysis for climate change mitigation and adaption strategies (TRANSrisk), interlinked with other objectives in Indonesia such as Indonesia Climate Change Trust Fund (ICCTF), Udayana University (Unud) and PT. Sustainability and Resilience (su-re.co). It aimed to collaborate in analyze and accelerate the sustainable bioenergy business to promote climate change mitigation and adaptation pathways in Indonesia. GreenWin Indonesia case study is involving on work package 7 (WP7) with focus on energy poverty eradication and resilient livelihoods. This work package will analyse and contribute to the behavioral transition within the nexus of energy poverty eradication and resilient livelihoods. TRANSrisk aimed to brings together quantitative models and qualitative approaches, focusing on participatory consultations with stakeholders as a link between the policy approaches. The workshop provides an opportunity to analyze the sustainability and climate resilience of low carbon transition pathways comprising of biofuels made from crop wastes and residues that are technically and economically feasible and acceptable from a social and environmental viewpoint. In addition, ICCTF supports Indonesia government in order to provide alternative financing mechanisms to the appropriate climate change activities across Indonesia in line with its focus areas, which are Landbased Mitigation, Energy, as well as Resilience and Adaptation. Generally, Indonesia case will focus on energy poverty alleviation, food security and novel ecosystem services through bioenergy production in Bali which brings all those interests at once. This case will study the role of SMEs and community engagement in energy, climate-resilience, poverty alleviation and food security derived from agribusiness production including bioenergy. A particular focus will thereby lie on systemic solutions which link the production of novel energy and food services with climate adaptation and mitigation.
2 This 2 nd INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON SUSTAINABILITY AND RESILIENCE OF BIOENERGY FOR CLIMATE CHANGE: Support Examplary Solutions, Business Model and Enabling Conditions is a continuation from the previous workshops namely International Workshop on Sustainability and Resilience of Bioenergy for Climate Change: Scoping and Envisioning. WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES This workshop following up with focuses on sustainability visions and policy proposals in terms of consistency, adequacy, robustness and the feasibility of the green business model. The particular focus will support the examplenary solution, business model and the enabling condition through investment opportunities and partnership on energy poverty eradication and resilient livelihood with bioenergy. A range of distinguished experts from governments, energy companies, international organisations, research centres, financial community and other bioenergy stakeholders will explore topics such as: i. Developing supportive frameworks to enable bioenergy deployment, facilitate market access and encourage investments in the sustainability energy sector. ii. Sharing best practices from key stakeholders in bionergy project development for the implementation of green business model and exploring which role international and regional networks / organisations can play in the pursuit of low-carbon strategies collaboration in sustainable way. FORMAT OF WORKSHOP Fieldtrip Presentation Focus Group Discussion. Day 0: Travel to jembrana, West bali Sunday, 21 st May 2017 On the day 0, participants who registered in field visit will travel to Jembrana, West Bali. Meeting point will be in the Lobby of Grand Balisani Suite Hotel, Canggu at WITA. It takes approximately 4 hours travels so estimated time arrive is around WITA. Participants will stay in Jimbarwana Hotel in Jembrana for a night before continued visiting the site on the day after. So, please certain yourself as registered participant of this field visit through the registration form (here) and we suggest you are not brings many luggage since we will travel by car and wants you to feel comfortable with the trip! Note:
3 Field trips are being offered at the first of the workshop and allow attendees to see the evidence of sustainable green business model in two villages in Jembrana Regency, West Bali.
4 Day 1 Field visit to jembrana, West Bali Monday, 22 nd May 2017 The workshop will officially starts with a full day field trip in two villages in Jembrana to see the evidence of sustainable green business model. Participants of the workshop will experience live demonstration of the biogas usage and served by coffee beyond the cup. Indicative Field Visit Plan: We will visit Pak Chakra in Warnasari village (Melaya District, Jembrana Regency) and Pak Putu in Penyaringan village (Mendoyo District, Jembrana Regency). Both of them are coffee farmer who has biogas installation used to energy households and roast their coffee as the agriculture product value chain to prevent the release of greenhouse-gas emissions into the atmosphere. These two farmers give more than efforts to achieve results from preventing local deforestation to better indoor environments for families by replacing firewood with biogas. Day 2 Developing Supportive Frameworks to Enable Bioenergy Deployment, Facilitate Market Access And Encourage Investments for the Sustainability of Green Business Model Tuesday, 23 rd May 2017 The second day workshop will provides presentation and focus group discussion (FGD) related to the topic. Day 3 Sharing Best Practices from Key Stakeholders in Bionergy Project Development to Exploring the Network Role and Partnership to Pursuit Low Carbon Strategies Collaboration in Sustainable Way Wednesday, 24 th May 2017 The third day of this International workshop will conduct with presentation and exercise related to the topic.
