1 EU-China Workshop on Waste Fluorescent Lamps Management Policy, Treatment Technology and Facility The Second Round Announcement Time:Oct. 29 th, 2015 Location:Mianzhou Hotel, Mianyang, Sichuan, China Host:Tsinghua University Organizer: Co-organizer: Beijing Municipal Solid Waste and Chemicals Management Centre Chengdu Municipal Solid Waste Management Centre University of Natural Resource and Life Sciences, Vienna An EU-China workshop on waste fluorescent lamps (WFLs) treatment policy, technology and facility initiated by Tsinghua University/Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific (BCRC China) will be held in Mianyang Sichuan on Oct. 29 th, 2015, to facilitate the exchange of EU-China WFLs treatment industrial policy management and technology, and to

2 promote the development of WFLs treatment technology and facilities in China. This workshop will be organized as a side event of ICWMT10. Senior officials from the Ministry of Environment Protection of P. R. China, well-known experts and representatives of excellent treatment company from China and abroad will be invited. Multi-level and perspective and panel discussion will be organized to discuss on how to promote the development of WFLs treatment technology and facilitate the establishment of WFLs treatment facilities in terms of legislation, key technology and facility for WFLs treatment, under the current development trends and policy guidance for WFLs treatment industry in China. This EU-China workshop will serve as a information platform for promoting the development of WFL treatment technology and establish of WFLs treatment facilities in China, and as a platform of information and experience exchange, technology transfer and cooperation for WFL recycling and treatment companies. ICWMT is an important international platform for specialists and officials to discuss scientific problems, exchange experiences, and look for innovative solutions. Initiated by Basel

3 Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific, ICWMT has been ongoing for 9 years since its inception in On a yearly basis, ICWMT is known to attract a great number of participants from governments, research institutions, universities and industries. In fact, there were more than 500 delegates from 32 countries participating in ICWMT9. The ICWMT10 will be held at Mianyang, Sichuan Province on October 28-30, The theme of ICWMT10 is Towards Environmental Quality Improvement. Specialized experts and government officials will be invited to give keynote speeches on the pressing issues of solid waste; this will in turn provide the opportunity to share and exchange ideas among participants. In addition, free technical field trips to e-waste and hazardous waste treatment plants will be arranged. BCRC China sincerely invite fluorescent lamp producers, waste fluorescent lamp treatment companies and organizations to this workshop. Enterprises exhibition session will be arranged, which will be of great variety and interactivity and provide an opportunity among authors, experts and enterprises to exchange information and technology.
