(plickars ) Science Journals Document Camera Smartboard Computer [2:45-2:50] Directions will be on the board for students to have science journals on deskds Today we will be reviewing ALL of the awesome things we learned in our Earth and Me unit [2:50-3:10] Scavenger Hunt Hide words with secret letters during planning period [3:10-3:20] Hot Corners When I say the word, go to this side of the room if you think it is a natural resource and this side of the room is you think it is NOT a natural resource be ready to defend your answer. oil and fuel (natural) soil (natural) Paper (not natural) forests (natural) metals (natural) Plastic (not natural) water (natural) [look up the other ones!!!] When I say the word, go to this side of the room if the resource is RENEWABLE what does renewable mean??? And go to the other side of the room if it is NON-RENEWABLE. Call on a student to find out what renewable means oil and fuel (non) soil (non) Forests Metals (non) Water Why are there different colored specks in some rocks? This corner for it s made up of minerals [3:20-3:30] Compare and Contrast How are gravel, sand, silt, clay and soil, similar? -all have particles -all are earth materials How are gravel sand, silt, clay, and soil different? -all have different sized particles -some are suspended in water, some sink -different colors -different textures Accommodations

3 Scavenger Hunt 1. - to use less of a product or material (and the best way to help save our natural resources) 2. - slow cause of change on the surface of the Earth. This happens when wind and/or water carries weathered particles from one place to another water that does not soak into the ground, but flows downhill. This carries earth materials from one place to another rapid movement of large areas of earth materials on a hill or mountain that slide to a lower level. Heavy rains or earthquakes can cause these an earth material or natural product that can be regrown or made again. A forest is an example of this type of resource, even though it takes a long time to grow an earth material or natural product that cannot be regrown or made again. Oil and sand are examples of this type of resource violent shaking or vibration of the ground, due to movement of sections of rock in the Earth. Causes rapid changes to the Earth s surface any material from the Earth that humans use to make things or to produce energy is called this type of resource.
