2 What do we want to achieve? Ensure sustainability across the supply chain of the main products and services in the Mediterranean area, minimising their negative impact on the environment, fostering Eco innovation i and competitiveness ii in companies (specially SME) through transnational cooperation. Eco innovation refers to every innovative activity whose outcome or objective is to improve products (goods or services), the production processes or rendered services and/or marketing methods or company management, whose use or execution could prevent or considerably reduce the environmental impacts.

4 What do we want to share? Learn lessons from previous cooperation projects and results in: A. Sustainability of the products/services: Methodologies, tools and best practices for the identification and assessment of the main potential environmental impacts of a product or service over the course of its life cycle. B. Sustainability of the production process: Methodologies, tools and best practices for the identification, selection and transfer of Best Available Techniques (BAT) and Best Environmental Management Practices (BEMP) to prevent and control the pollution caused by the activities of the production processes related to a product or service. C. Sustainable management of Areas: Methodologies, tools and best practices to promote sustainable model for planning, construction and management of Areas. D. Sustainable consumption patterns and behaviour: Methodologies, tools and best practices to promote sustainable consumption patterns and behaviour through the stimulation of consumers demand for more sustainable products or services.

8 What are the benefits of the capitalization/integration of eco innovation experiences for the MED Area? Development of capacity and opportunities in the area of ecoinnovation: In a context where the value of global market for environmental technologies, ecofriendly products and services and sustainable design could be worth 2 trillion annually by 2020, regions of the MED Area, in a transition process towards the next programming period, have to seize this opportunity together to influence upon territorial cooperation priorities and provide a broad innovative capitalization of results. Opportunity to integrate eco innovation: Eco innovation should not be considered a standalone issue. It can be introduced across economic sectors and ECO SCP MED is an opportunity to make crosssectorial collaboration. A step forward policy level integration: It is necessary to make a step forward policy level integration to address the complexity of the sustainability challenge and ECO SCP MED contributes to make this step to improve sustainability across the supply chain of the main products and services in the MED area.
