3 people, Primary Care Center and parking - use of solar thermal energy to cover more than 60% of the consumption of heating, cooling and production of ACS, - use of super insulation to reduce energy consumption and noise pollution - use of ventilated façade - use of heat recovery systems in all dwellings - use of advanced energy monitoring systems, - one of the first Class A certified housing building in Barcelona. These study-visits allowed to brings together more than 35 managing directors and technicians of housing cooperatives from Italy and representatives of Municipal/Regional housing organisations in Catalania. Both Mediterranean countries, Spain and Italian are facing very similar problems related to bad condition of housing stock built between and climatical and technical context. With these study visits the Italian Social Housing managers gave an important chance to exchange information and learn together about good practical experiences with energy efficient housing refurbishment and new constructions in Barcelona. Interesting comments from participants emerged during the exchange on technical features, transferability, comparison with developments within their organizations, Difficulty of transferring technologies and techniques to refurbishment and new housing development. Special thanks to Xavier Martí i Ragué (Department of Territory and Sustainability Generalitat of Catalonia), Ana Mestre Massa (Agencia de L Habitatge de Catalunya), Jaume Valor (Exe Arquitectura Barcelona S.L.), Stoyan Danov (CIMNE), Carlos de Astorza (AVS) and to all those who have provided their full professional commitment and enthusiastic support for the successful implementation of the PHE study visits. 3
4 At the end of the study-visits, a workshop was organised between Italian housing coops managers and representatives of Municipal/Regional housing organisations in Catalania. On-going European co-financed projects such as IRH-MED, ICE-WISH, ESESH and MARIE projects were presented and discussed by participants. A mutual agreement has been reached between Federabitazione-CasaQualità and Department of Territory and Sustainability Generalitat of Catalonia to develop common initiatives to boost energy efficiency in social housing in the MED area. The study visits were organised by Consorzio Nazionale CasaQualità in the framwork of the POWER HOUSE EUROPE project, with the support of Department of Territory and Sustainability Generalitat of Catalonia, AVS and Cecodhas Housing Europe.
