Disaster Management has been selected by FICCI to raise awareness of the industrial sector and of NGOs, District & State Authorities including Statutory Agencies as well as all the stakeholders in the community who are most vulnerable during disasters. For further details, you may visit the website: Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM): Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) was constituted w.e.f 26th September The functions of the EAC-PM inter alia include addressing the issues of macroeconomic importance. Keeping in view that the industrial units in various segments play a major role in economic development of the country and that not only huge investments are made in establishing these industrial units but also large number of employees and contract workers are involved at every stage of these units, EAC-PM has accepted the request of the Chemical Industrial Disaster management (CIDM) Board to support CIDM Conferences. Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), India was established in 2007 subsequent to an Act of Parliament. The objectives of the board are to regulate refining, processing, storage, transportation, distribution, marketing and sale of petroleum, petroleum products & natural gas, excluding production of crude oil & natural gas. One of the functions of the Board is to regulate technical standards and specifications including safety standards. For further details, you may visit the website: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Government of India was constituted in Sept, 2005 consequent to enactment of Disaster Management Act, Hon'ble Prime Minister of India is ex-officio Chairman of NDMA. NDMA, as per its inter alia mandate, has brought out National Guidelines on (i) Chemical (Industrial) Disaster Management (CIDM) (ii) Chemical (Terrorism) Disaster Management; the objective of the guidelines is to strengthen prevention, mitigation and preparedness measures; minimize accidents; and set up an effective mechanism to respond to disasters. For further d e t a i l s, y o u m a y v i s i t t h e w e b s i t e : Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has been created for securing the orderly establishment and organization of industries in industrial areas and industrial estates in the state. To fulfill the above mandate, the Corporation has established 202 industrial estate. GIDC is now establishing Special Investment Regions, PCPIR, Industrial areas and large /sector-specific estates in tune with the changing economic and industrial scenario. The Institute has been entrusted with the responsibility of human resource development, capacity building, training, research and documentation in the field of Disaster Management. As per the GIDM s objectives and mandates, it focuses on enriching the capacities in specific areas of prevention, mitigation, preparedness, relief, recovery, rehabilitation, reconstruction and sustainable development - of the officials and other functionaries of the state and district administration for response to emergencies and in the longer run, it will take up similar capacity building for other stakeholders in the country.
