RNC Pop Quiz HERS Rater For a single family geothermal home, what are 5 things that must be submitted once a project is completed in order to close it out? (REM/Rate file, invoices, VIP form, lighting inventory, AHRI certificate, As-Built app, W-9 form) Builder Name 3 checklists that are required for ENERGY STAR Version 3.0 (Thermal Enclosure System, HVAC Contractor, HVAC Rater, Water Management) HVAC Contractor Under the new 2009 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) code requirement, when is duct testing required? And when is it not required? (Duct testing is required for any ductwork installed outside of the thermal envelope)
Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund History Energy Efficiency Fund history Created in 1998 by Connecticut State Legislature Funding expanded to include natural gas programs in 2005 Energy efficiency is a valuable resource for Connecticut: Reduces greenhouse gases and other air pollutants Reduces need for more energy generation Saves customers money Creates jobs Program funding Electric customers pay 3 mils per kilowatt hour Natural gas programs are funded through gas utility bills It s YOUR MONEY, take advantage of it!

ENERGY STAR Qualified Homes What is ENERGY STAR for Homes? The goal of the ENERGY STAR for New Homes program is to help homebuyers easily identify homes that are significantly more energy efficient than standard construction in the marketplace. ENERGY STAR: Defines energy efficiency House-As-A-System approach At least 15% more efficient than standard code Third-party verification requirements Helps builders sell energy-efficient homes A EPA/government-backed label Standard for energy efficient homes Web site, marketing resources, awards
Why Build an ENERGY STAR Home? Product differentiation Long term escalating energy costs Marketability Quality assurance guarantee (warranty potential, fewer call backs) Builder credibility Growing consumer interest in sustainability and energy efficiency
ENERGY STAR Partner Marketing Resources Customized logo Brochures Fact Sheets Cost & Energy Savings overviews
What is an ENERGY STAR Home? High Performance Insulation High Performance Windows Tight Construction and Ducts Efficient HVAC Efficient Products Third-party Verification
