1 CAPP Step-by-Step Guide CNM s Online Program Evaluation System CAPP stands for Curriculum, Advisement and Program Planning. CAPP gives you access to generate a certificate or degree evaluation so that you can see if you are on target to graduate. It tells you where you are in your program and what courses you may still need to take. If you have not declared a major or are thinking of changing your major, CAPP can help you see how your credits and courses would apply to any major/program offered at CNM by following the directions for a What-If Analysis. The evaluation you get from CAPP is not official. It is a tool to guide you through your program. Now you can prepare to meet with your advisor and have all the information you need at your fingertips. Just follow these directions on how to access your program evaluation. NOTE: Online evaluations can only be processed for program requirements in the 2007 catalog or later. For catalogs before 2007, refer to program checklists in the Your Guide to Graduation link. For online help running a CAPP evaluation contact 9am-4pm, M-F. Got questions about your evaluation? Want help choosing the right classes for your program so that you can graduate as soon as possible? Contact an Academic Advisor at am-5pm, M-F, chat with an advisor online at pm, M-F, or ask your Achievement Coach. 1. Select the current term. 2. Select the What-If Analysis link at the bottom of the page to produce a degree evaluation. 3. Select your Graduation Catalog - the catalog you are following to complete the program.
2 4. Select the program. 5. Verify the program and proceed based on whether or not the program has concentrations. 6. If the program has concentration(s), add them here.
3 7. Select the current term. 8. Choose the display option you want. (Detail Requirements is recommended because it gives you the most complete view. Additional Information provides you a list of the classes and/or credits not used in the program evaluation.) An online guide to interpreting an evaluation is in the HELP link in the top right corner of the page. To print your evaluation, select Detail Requirements and click on Submit. Go to File in the upper left corner of the computer screen and select Print in pull-down menu. Warning: After 15 minutes of inactivity, the system times out. Got Questions? 4 HOW TO INTERPRET YOUR CAPP EVALUATION Evaluations are composed of general and specific certificate/degree requirements. Specific requirements are grouped into areas that list required courses and which courses were used to fulfill the requirement(s). To interpret an evaluation it may be necessary to compare the evaluation with the program requirements listed in the CNM catalog and/or addendum. General Requirements if No appears in this section, the requirement has not been met. This section lists the following general graduation requirements: Total Required indicates the overall number of hours required for the certificate or degree. Required Institutional indicates the number of hours required for residency. Program and Overall GPA indicate required program and required overall GPA (when applicable). Met column (Yes or No) indicates whether the requirement has been fulfilled. Areas - if Not Met appears in this section, the requirement has not been met. Areas list specific course requirements. Each area has a title and a Met or Not Met indicator (whether the area requirements have been fulfilled). Requirements are displayed in the following columns: Condition is a logic statement that lists whether the requirement is an and or an or. Rule indicates that the requirement is a choice from several courses. These are not displayed in detail in the evaluation. It will be necessary to refer to the program description in the appropriate CNM catalog and/or addendum for courses required in a rule. Subject lists the subject code required. Attribute lists the attribute requirement. An attribute is a label used to identify a group of like classes. Low lists the lowest course number accepted. High lists the highest course number accepted, if there is a course range. Required Credit(s) lists credit(s) required. Required Course(s) lists course(s) required. How requirements are fulfilled is displayed in the following columns: Term lists when the course(s) were taken. Subject lists the subject code for the course used. Course lists the course number for the course used. Title lists the title of the course used. Attribute lists the attribute of the course used. Credits lists the credits of the course used. Grade lists the course grade. Source indicates if the course is T = Transfer, H = a CNM graded course, or R = In Progress course NOTE: You can view more information about required courses by clicking on the course. The system will direct you to a description from the online catalog.
