1 PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL & SELF-ASSESSMENT TRAINING
2 PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL/ SELF-ASSESSMENT TIMELINE 1. Staff, Faculty, or Director complete the Self-Assessment and send to their Immediate Supervisor by March 15th. 2. Immediate Supervisor reviews Self-Assessment and completes Performance Appraisal and returns to Staff, Faculty, or Director by April 1st. 3. Staff, Faculty, or Director review the Performance Appraisal, add any final comments, and return it to their Immediate Supervisor by April 7th. 4. Face-to-face meeting (Including the use of technology such as ITV, Skype, etc.) to discuss the results of the Self-Assessment/Performance Appraisal by April 15th. 5. The signed Self-Assessment/Performance Appraisal is sent to the Office of Human Resources to be placed in personnel file by April 15th. 6. Immediate Supervisor closes the Self-Assessment/Performance Appraisal online only after all the above steps have been completed by April 15th.

6 HOW TO ACCESS THE PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL WEBSITE Step 3: Forget Your Password If you forget your regular password, you can have a new one sent to you by using the Forgot Password? option.
7 HOW TO ACCESS THE PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL WEBSITE Step 3: Forget Your Password Below you will find an example of the you will receive which provides you a Temporary Password.
8 HOW TO ACCESS THE PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL WEBSITE Step 3: Forget Your Password Once you log in with your address and temporary password, will be required to set a new regular password, which must have a character like $ or # at the end.
9 NOW WHAT DO I DO ONCE I HAVE ACCESSED THE WEBSITE? On your Home Page, you will see My Task & May Tasks for Colleagues with are items you need to complete. To get started just clink on one of thees items.
10 SELF-ASSESSMENT PROCESS For Employee: This part of the system where you inform your supervisor about your performance (Self Assessment) and where your supervisor evaluates your performance (Performance Appraisal).
11 RATING INFORMATION FOR DIRECTORS AND STAFF To find information about this year s rating scale, click on the About Rating Scale Button. This will lead you to the information below:
12 RATING INFORMATION FOR FACULTY To find information about this year s rating scale, click on the About Rating Scale Button. This will lead you to the information below:
13 SELF-ASSESSMENT PROCESS NEW TO THIS YEARS PROCESS!!! You must provide a comment for every rating you provide, including Meets Expectations. For Meets Expectations, you can simply type "Meets Standards" in order to continue through the Self- Assessment.
14 SELF-ASSESSMENT PROCESS For Employee: This year you can provide supporting documents. Click on the Attachment Tab. Then click on Attachments Add.
15 SELF-ASSESSMENT PROCESS For Employee: Then click on Browse to locate the document(s) you want to provide, name your document(s), and then click Upload.
16 SELF-ASSESSMENT PROCESS If you are unable to complete your Self Assessment in one setting, don t worry because the system now Auto Saves as you enter your information.
17 SELF-ASSESSMENT PROCESS For Employee: Once you have completed your Self Assessment, you click on Submit Answers which sends this information to your immediate supervisor.
18 PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL PROCESS For Supervisors: Once an employee completes their Self Assessment, you will receive an similar to the one below:
19 PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL PROCESS For Supervisors: In Your My Task for Colleagues you will see the following where you can see an employee as completed their Self- Assessment.
20 PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL PROCESS For Supervisors: To complete your employee s Performance Appraisal, you do so under the Performance Appraisal Tab.
21 SELF-ASSESSMENT PROCESS NEW TO THIS YEARS PROCESS!!! You must provide a comment for every rating you provide, including Meets Expectations. For Meets Expectations, you can simply type "Meets Standards" in order to continue through the Performance Appraisal.
22 PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL PROCESS For Supervisors: To see your employee s Self Assessment information along with your scores and comments, click on Overall Performance Appraisal Results Tab.
23 PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL PROCESS For Supervisors: To see your employee s supporting documents along with adding your own documents, click on Attachments Tab.
24 PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL/ SELF ASSESSMENT For Supervisors: Once you have completed your employee s Performance Appraisal, click on the Share with Employee for Final Comments Button.
25 PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL/ SELF ASSESSMENT If you are unable to complete a Performance Appraisal in one setting, don t worry because the system now Auto Saves as you enter your information.
26 SELF-ASSESSMENT PROCESS For Employees: Once your supervisor has completed your Performance Appraisal, you will receive an similar to the one below letting you know you can add any final comments.
27 SELF-ASSESSMENT PROCESS For Employees: Once you add any final comments to your Performance Appraisal, you click the Share with Immediate Supervisor button. You must provide some feedback in order to return your Performance Appraisal to your supervisor.
28 PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL PROCESS For Supervisors: Once your employee has added any Final Comments, print out the Performance Appraisal results and schedule a meeting with your employee to discuss the results.
29 PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL/ SELF ASSESSMENT For Supervisors: Once you have your meeting with your employee, Click the Complete button and the Performance Appraisal/ Self Assessment online process is complete.
30 PAST PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL/ SELF ASSESSMENT For Employees: If you would like to review your Performance Appraisal/ Self Assessment from previous years, scroll down until you see the Performance Review History and click on Reports.
31 PAST PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL/ SELF ASSESSMENT For Supervisor: If you would like to review your employees Performance Appraisal/ Self Assessment from previous years, click on the My Staff button.
32 PAST PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL/ SELF ASSESSMENT For Supervisor: Then select the Closed Reviews option. Then click on Reports.
33 PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL/ SELF ASSESSMENT For Supervisor: Once you have completed your meeting with your employee(s) and both of you have signed the Performance Appraisal/Self Assessment Form, forward it to Human Resources for final processing. This will complete the Performance Appraisal/ Self Assessment process.
34 SOME PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL TRENDS Halo Effect May Occur when an employee is extremely competent in one area and is therefore rated high in all categories. Horn Effect May occur when one weakness results in an overall low rating. Recency Error Occurs when an appraiser gives more weight to recent occurrences and discounts the employee s earlier performance during the appraisal period. Primacy Error Occurs when an appraiser gives more weight to the employee s earlier performance and discounts recent occurrence.
35 PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL/ SELF-ASSESSMENT TIMELINE 1. Staff, Faculty, or Director complete the Self-Assessment and send to their Immediate Supervisor by March 15th. 2. Immediate Supervisor reviews Self-Assessment and completes Performance Appraisal and returns to Staff, Faculty, or Director by April 1st. 3.
