5 The Financial Cost of SaaS A SaaS deployment of your HRMS is typically a monthly rental of the solution, priced on a per employee, per month charge. Most SaaS vendors say this model is the ideal way to conserve cash, deploy quickly and avoid longterm lock-in. Is this true?

6 The Financial Cost of SaaS An typical monthly SaaS cost is $13 PEPM for a company with less than 1,000 employees. If you have 850 employees, this is $11,050 a month or $132,600 a year. Most SaaS vendors require a 3 year commitment. This is a minimum of $397,800 and usually doesn t include implementation or training. When you add this, you will spend $550,000 over 3 years. If you decide to leave after 3 years, you are left without a solution. This is great for the SaaS vendor, but may not be for you.

This means you share their environment with other customers and there is virtual partition between them. This makes it easy for the vendor to update everyone s environment with the latest enhancements/updates. Possible downside for you? Significantly limits the ability to personalize the solution for your unique needs.

That timeline does not include all the work that needs to be done around business process, integration of systems or change management. In our experience, a SaaS deployment is no faster than a traditional software purchase.

14 Is SaaS an IT-Free solution? SaaS only vendors will tell you that you can do this independent of IT. However, most IT departments will tell you they need to be involved. You ll need IT s assistance with pulling data from the existing system and developing interfaces to/from your HRMS, at minimum. Once live, assistance will be from your SaaS vendor, not your IT department. Calling outside help may be frustrating for the HR and Payroll departments.

15 Bottom Line Why should you have to make a technology decision when choosing an HRMS? Let your HRMS needs drive the solution decision, not the deployment method.
