4 COMPANY PROFILE : KRIBHCO, a Multi State Cooperative Society, was established to produce quality agriculture inputs mainly chemical fertilizers through cooperatives and institutional agencies. Late Smt. Indra Gandhi, former Primer Minister of India, laid the Foundation Stone for KRIBHCO Fertiliser Complex at Hazira, Gujarat on February 5, This Fertilizer Complex has 2 Streams of Ammonia Plant and 4 Streams of Urea Plant. Annual re-assessed capacity for Urea and Ammonia is million MT and million MT respectively. The commercial production of Urea commenced from March 01, Since then, it has excelled in performance in all areas of its operations. Three state of art Bio fertilizer plants (ISO Certified) were also commissioned at Hazira, Varana`1si and Lanjha (Ratnagiri) for producing and marketing, Eco & environment friendly, five bacterial strains of biofertilizers i.e. Rhizobium, Azotobacter, Acetobacter, Azospirillum and PSM (Phosphate Solubilising Micro organism). The seed business includes its multiplication by farmers, buy back by KRIBHCO and processing at its 14 modern Seed Processing Plants located in various states. A cooperative thrives on the trust of its members. The total membership in KRIBHCO as on March 31, 2011 was 7356 cooperative societies, institutions and Govt. of India. To further strengthen its position in Agriculture sector in general and fertilizer sector in particular, KRIBHCO has undertaken fresh initiatives in the following areas: 1. KRIBHCO is undertaking revamp job of existing Ammonia Urea plants at Hazira, which will increase Urea production to lakh MT. 2. A new gas turbine based Captive Power Plant with 72 MW capacity is in the process of setting up. 3. Jetty at Hazira, Surat has been made on 29 th December, Hazira expansion project is likely to start shortly. KRIBHCO has successfully diversified into the following fields: 1. Energy Generation (GSEG), 2. Infrastructure (KRIL), 3. Joint venture (KSFL & OMIFCO), 4. Commodity Exchange (ICEX) etc. In the years to come it is our endeavour to see KRIBHCO reaches new height in serving farmers, cooperatives and the nation. KRIBHCO has a much larger role in the Rural Sector than just being manufacturer of fertilizers. It provides a variety of services to farmers free of cost. Prominent one are complete soil testing including all macro and micro nutrients, simplified technical literature distribution, farmer s meetings, field demonstrations, training to farmers and co-operators. This is backed up by quality inputs supply at reasonable rates and farm implements for free use through Krishak Bharati Seva Kndras. Every year KRIBHCO is benefiting about 10 lakh farmers and co-operators through more than two thousand programs organised in different parts of the country.
