OUR HISORY In 2003 a group of artists and practitioners came together to form rts Collective (NC). hey were united by the common goal to elevate contemporary art within shire. NC now forms the board for NN, located at Number Nine, in the heart of the Cultural Quarter in. t NN we believe that international art and culture should be accessible to all. Over the last few years we have worked with schools, community groups and regional partners to deliver innovative educational events and projects. In 2014 NN was awarded charitable status by he Charity Commission and in 2018 NN successfully achieved National Portfolio Organisation status from rts Council England. OUR IMPC 127,000 annual visitor audience. 2,400,000 annual broadcast/print/online audience. 99 exhibiting artists worked with during , from students to Venice Biennale award winners. From to New Zealand, Luxembourg, Portugal, rmenia, ustralia and more: our programme is local, national and international. 3 infoart.org RISIC DIRECOR & CHIEF EXECUIVE OFFICER Job Description & Person Specification Reporting to: he Board of rustees Responsible for: ll staff and volunteers he rtistic Director & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is a new position and is the principle leadership role at NN Contemporary rt (NN). hey will be responsible for developing, communicating and delivering the organisation s vision and for the effective management and leadership of NN s rtistic, Educational and Outreach Programmes and the partnerships through which key elements of that programme are delivered. hey are also responsible for the effective management and leadership of the organisation in relation to the role as defined within this Job Description. Responsibilities: Strategic & Management: o devise, implement, monitor and report against NN s Strategic Plan in consultation with the Board of rustees and other stakeholders as may be required. o take the lead on delivering the organisation s activities in respect of the following key areas: he Creative, Educational and Outreach Programmes and their associated Research and Evaluation Stakeholder / Partner Relationships Revenue Generation Future Home and Viable Operating Model for NN Marketing & Communications udience Development. o positively and effectively promote and reflect the organisation s vision, values and ambitions both internally and externally, in collaboration with all staff, rustees and other advocates. o seek and explore opportunities for exploitation and promotion of all areas of the organisation s work with staff and the Board of rustees. o exude confidence and authority as a figurehead for NN. o directly line manage the staff team members designated to deliver on the areas under the management of this role.

4 infoart.org Board of rustees: In close collaboration with the Chair of the Board of rustees, to ensure that the Board is kept fully informed in a timely manner on all aspects of the operation of the organisation through regular scheduled meetings of the Board and outside of structured meetings. o call on the skills of individual Board rustees as may be required to deliver against the objectives of the organisation. o work closely with rustees to ensure that the Board s membership remains fit for purpose in terms of skills and representation. Finance & Fundraising: longside the Finance Manager, to participate in the overall financial management of the organisation including the setting of annual and longer term budgets and reporting on these to the Board and stakeholders as required. o sustain and develop further NN s funding relationships with statutory and other public sector funders. o develop and implement a revenue generation strategy for NN to support the effective delivery of the organisation s goals o lead private sector fundraising in all forms appropriate to NN s operating model. Future Home: o work closely with the Board and key stakeholders to determine a viable Future Home Plan for NN and deliver a strategy for its effective and timely delivery. General: orking with the Board of rustees and staff, to maintain full compliance with all legal requirements as a Limited Company and Registered Charity. o create a working environment for staff and volunteers that enables them to thrive, feel valued and contribute effectively to the organisation. o ensure that the organisation s reputation is maintained and represent the organisation regionally, nationally and internationally. o attend regular supervision sessions with the Chair of the Board of rustees and communicate regularly on issues regarding the operation of the organisation. o take on other such duties by mutual agreement with the Chair as may be required to sustain NN.

5 infoart.org PERSON SPECIFICION proven track record as a senior manager, used to operating at a strategic level and in supporting staff to deal with complex delivery issues. Experience of engaging effectively with rts Council England ideally from within a National Portfolio Organisation context and in a local authority funding environment. demonstrable and dynamic approach to developing distinctive creative programmes and supportive partnerships. n excellent advocate, ambassador and strong negotiator, with a high degree of emotional intelligence and an inspirational and empathetic leadership style. n ability to understand the current competitive context in which the arts in the UK operate and a creative and lateral thinker with the ability to identify and develop new and significant business opportunities. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, a knowledge of strategic planning, budgeting and financial management. Experience of raising funds from the private sector (grant making trusts, individuals and companies) and the ability to apply that knowledge to diversify the revenue base of NN. he vision, drive and passion to devise and deliver the organisation s strategic goals. erms and Conditions: his is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week from our home in. Salary: 33,000 p.a. Holiday entitlement: 28 days plus statutory public holidays. Statutory workplace pension. Probationary period: hree months during which one week s notice is required by either party. Notice Period post confirmation in post: hree months.
