THE NUMBER ONE CHOICE: GARANT TOOL24 L'Orange makes the right choice when it comes to both partner and product in its quest to find the perfect automatic tools With the GARANT Tool24 from the Hoffmann Group, the injection technology company L'Orange has chosen an automatic issuing system that guarantees the right supply of tools every time, even for special customer requirements. As an injection system specialist for high and medium speed engines of between 1,000 and 40,000 kw, the Swabian L'Orange GmbH supplies engine manufacturers in Europe, the U.S. and Asia. L'Orange has to be adaptable to deal with the different specialisations of its international clientele, such as MTU Friedrichshafen, MAN Diesel & Turbo SE or Wärtsilä from Finland and the different demands they place on the products. After all, not every engine is the same. The company has more than 100 people working in development on calculations, designs and testing, in order, for example, to ensure that the latest policy guidelines in the engine sector are fulfilled. To satisfy the various requirements, L'Orange was seeking an automation system that would provide the company with a clear overview and selection of tools and a reliable supply at the same time. The second requirement was to find an internationally experienced partner to support L'Orange and its customers with a flexible overall concept. With GARANT Tool24 from the Hoffmann Group, L'Orange's Tool Manager Michael Stein found both the right product and the right partner. Michael Stein was faced with a logistical challenge following commissioning: The walking distances for its employees were significant and the required tools ran out quickly. In a comparison with two competitor products, Stein was convinced above all by the overall concept and the excellent time savings. "The automatic issuing system from the Hoffmann Group, a well-known expert in the tool sector, shortens transit times for us and simplifies the tool management process", says Stein. "We can manage an entire array of items in the cabinets from the Hoffmann Group, and not just tools." 10

This means that material bottlenecks can be avoided fully. It is a major advantage for Stein that he no longer has to worry about reordering. Owing to the success of GARANT Tool24, eight individual automatic issuing and drawer systems from the Hoffmann Group are now being used by L'Orange. These systems are networked with each other, which means that stocks can be queried between the systems. The employees access the automatic issuing systems several times an hour, selecting an average of 100 tools per day. The purchase of additional cabinets is already planned for the coming years.
