2 2 SOLUTION HIGHLIGHTS EXPERIENCE The FTS 3020 solution consists of modules certified for use in safety-critical applications and with a proven track record in the field. In addition to our rail clients, Air Traffic Control, Defence, Public Safety and Maritime authorities throughout the world have put their trust in the Frequentis voice communication platform. SAFETY The FTS 3020 solution is a technically mature and future-proof safety grade platform. The unique active redundancy concept guarantees that no voice calls are lost and also ensures that system data is always fully duplicated and synchronised. INTEGRATION AND MIGRATION The hybrid architecture of the FTS 3020 solution allows flexible interfacing to existing communication and network infrastructures, as well as to IP-based information systems like GSM-R Intelligent Network (IN) servers, train location systems and SMS Centres. This flexibility lets Frequentis help its customers protect their existing investments, migrate to state of the art technologies such as VoIP, and develop new, advanced rail services.

3 COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION SOLUTIONS FOR A SAFER WORLD 3 FREQUENTIS FTS 3020 FIXED TERMINAL SYSTEM OPERATIONAL COMMUNICATION FOR RAIL NETWORK OPERATORS The FTS 3020 solution reflects a core business mission: to provide safety-enhancing operational communication solutions for railway organisations. These solutions are designed to support smooth and efficient train operations and are tailored to suit the needs of dispatchers in railway command and control centres. In short, the FTS 3020 is designed to improve the effectiveness of everyday railway processes. Operational communication takes place between command and control centres, train drivers, shunting personnel, maintenance personnel, neighbourhood dispatchers and local train stations. The FTS 3020 solution primarily focuses on interfacing with GSM-R mobile networks, but it also provides a migration path for the integration of existing analogue infrastructures into a unified communication solution. FLEXIBILITY The FTS 3020 dispatcher terminal portfolio includes a complete range of products, each unique in its design and functionality. They are ideal for users in both local train stations and central command and control centres. Customisation to each organisation s specific needs offers additional value: the dispatcher terminal user interface can be optimised to match existing workflow patterns. EFFICIENCY The FTS 3020 solution offers various features, such as the advanced (but easy to use) role management system. These features improve the efficiency of everyday processes and ensure the best use of human and technical resources. SCALABILITY The solution can vary in size from a few controller positions managing a single railway line up to a countrywide network with many local train stations and large command and control centres.

This technology concept ensures non-blocking operation, as well as highly reliable communication and data links. The Central Switch enables communication between the digital rail radio communication network system (GSM-R), the dispatcher terminals (ISDN, IP or wireless) and the existing communication infrastructure through the Remote Switch. It also connects to IPbased data services such as IN servers, SMS/CB centres and train location systems. The combination of data and voice services provides a flexible basis for the integration of advanced railspecific functions. These include enhanced location dependent addressing, mobile and train lists, registration services, and ancillary features such as text messaging. FTS 3020 REMOTE SWITCH The Remote Switch connects the Central Switch with remotely-located ISDN based dispatcher positions and other existing communication equipment. The broad range of legacy interfaces allows the integration of existing communication investments, such as analogue radio, public address systems and trackside devices. This consolidates all communications within a unified dispatcher terminal. FTS 3020 VOICE RECORDING The Frequentis DIVOS 3 logging system is connected to the voice recording interface of the FTS 3020 Central Switch, and records all calls to and from dispatchers. The DIVOS 3 log can also be connected to the Lawful Interception Interface of the MSC in order to record all mobile calls in the GSM-R Network. The system also records call-related data, including such specific GSM-R features as functional numbers and call priorities. A media console application is available to retrieve and filter the call data, as well as to provide reporting functionality.

5 5 DICORA C15 The DICORA C15, the robust dispatcher terminal for local train controllers with classical keypadoriented behaviour. FTS 3020 GSM-R DISPATCHER TERMINALS The dispatcher terminals represent the front end for the train/traffic controllers. The DICORA dispatcher terminal family is optimised to cover the needs of all relevant users, whether in local train stations or central command and control centres. All terminals use low-power technology, operate without moving parts, are noiseless, and can be remotely configured and maintained. They support (of course) VoIP, the full EIRENE feature set, and other relevant standards and guidelines. FTS 3020 MANAGEMENT SUITE The operation and maintenance of safety-related systems and infrastructure demands access to efficient and powerful management tools. DICORA S15 and P15 The DICORA S15 and P15, the flexible high-end dispatcher terminals for local train stations and control centres with integrated or external touch monitors. The Management Suite offers just such a toolset for configuring the FTS 3020 solution and for status and alarm management. Its core principles are: > The One Tool Concept - for efficient configuration of infrastructural elements and operational data > Ease of Use achieved through standardised GUI elements, configuration wizards, validation checks and context-sensitive help functions > Versioning users can return the system to a previous configuration > Standardisation alarm and status information are SNMP based and can be displayed in the Management Suite or in an umbrella management system > Client/Server Architecture - allows access to the FTS 3020 system from several locations within the organisation

The message history feature allows messages to be examined at a later time. > Voice Recording and Call Data Records Provides central voice recording and storing of call data records to support post-incident analysis of critical operational situations. COMFORT TELEPHONY > Standard Telephony Includes calling line presentation with number/name resolution. > Call Wizards Simplifies the composition of GSM-R functional numbers prior to dialling. > Conference Up to 30 subscribers can be integrated in a predefined or manual conference setup. > Waiting Queue Up to 9 calls can be held in the user s waiting queue. The queue is sorted by caller priority. All queue entries are displayed and the user can access each one with a single click. > Hold Queue Up to two calls can be put on hold while answering an additional call. > Telephone Book A global telephone book and the user s individual private telephone book provide quick access to network and public numbers. > Direct Access Keys Up to 288 direct access keys per role provide pre-configured one-click access to all areaspecific targets. > Call History Provides access to up to 200 incoming/outgoing calls and text messages. > Call Monitoring Enables the controller to put an active call on the monitoring loudspeaker of the audio module while retrieving or setting up a further call. > Pickup Call Queue Provides a direct overview of all incoming calls to a pre-defined group of dispatcher terminals. The group s members have one-click access to each call, so they can easily assist each other at times of heavy traffic.

7 7 FTS 3020 INTEGRATION SERVICES (OPTIONAL) > Existing Communication Equipment A broad range of flexible interfaces enables the continued use of existing equipment investments (e.g. analogue radio based on UIC 751-3, public announcement systems, trackside devices) and provides integrated communications through a unified dispatcher terminal. > Simplified Station Management The dispatcher terminal allows the controller to control infrastructural station elements, such as lights, doors, and elevators. INTELLIGENT NETWORK AND TRAIN LOCATION SERVICES (OPTIONAL) > Enhanced Location Dependent Addressing, elda Based on LDA and enhanced with additional location information data from the train location systems. This allows more precise routing for station areas, junction points, and directionoriented areas of responsibility. > Train and Mobile List All registered GSM-R mobile devices within the controller s area of responsibility are listed, One-click access to the list entries enables quick call set up and text messaging options.
