6 Office of Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Office of the Secretary of Transportation 1200 New Jersey Avenue, SE Washington, DC June 3, 2015 RE: Transit Tech Ohio Project (T 2 O) Dear Secretary Foxx: I am pleased to write in support of the Tech Transit Ohio (T 2 O) Project, an application from the Ohio Department of Transportation for funding through the United States Department of Transportation TIGER program for the capital improvement of transit technology for scheduling and dispatching in rural areas of Ohio. The T 2 O program will develop minimum standards for rural transit scheduling/dispatching software and hardware including mobile data terminals and the build out and expansion of equipment to increase broadband access where the software/hardware systems require it. Connect Ohio is pleased to partner with ODOT in this program to assure the maximum benefit of the project and minimum duplication of equipment for the rural areas where connectivity is limited. Through this program, rural public transit services will be able to improve service efficiency, increase coverage for emergency response and, most importantly, improve customer service through the use of better technology using increased connectivity. Any use of technology assures the safety and efficiency of our rural public transit systems and will be a benefit to our area residents, especially those most vulnerable such as people who are elderly or people with disabilities. We believe the T 2 O Project represents an important opportunity to deploy advanced technology to our rural transit agencies and to increase access to broadband for not only the transit agency, but for all community partners. On behalf of Connect Ohio Initiative, LLC, I want to express our strongest support for the Tech Transit Ohio application to the USDOT TIGER program. Sincerely, Lindsay Shanahan Executive Director Connect Ohio W , M lshanahan@connectohio.org

Ohio May 29,2015 The Honorable Anthony Foxx Secretary of Transportation US Department of Transportation 1200 NewJersey Ave, SE Washington, DC Dear Secretary Foxx, Hancock Area Transportation Services, operated by the Hancock Hardin Wyandot Putnam Community Action Commission is pleased to support the State of Ohio Department of Transportation's Transportation lnvestment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant application called Transit Tech Ohio (-I2O). The investment will enhance rural transit systems through increased softvvare and hardware with in vehicle technology. This project will connect people to jobs and economic opportunities by increasing the efficiencies in the rural transit operations through increased technology, greater access to service and better response times. As an example, eastern Ohio has seen a rapid increase in population serving the energy regions of the state. These populations require increased transportation to access these jobs in rural areas, as well as doctors and services for their families. The in-vehicle technology and project will provide workforce development training as a ladder of opportunity. The increased technical skills obtained by our transit vehicle operators and scheduler/dispatchers, through this training, will help them advance within our organization. Jobs will be created for information technology (lt) specialists, system maintenance and repair personnel. Passengers will also have access to technology as a result of this project. Passengers will have access to mobile Wi-Fi hotspots to check , surf the web, read the news and increase their productivity as a passive passenger. These increased services to passengers will encourage ridership with the increased access to technology. As noted by our partner Connect Ohio; children and teachers may have Wi-Fi at school or at the library, but many in rural America may not have access anywhere else. The increased service will make rural transit much more attractive to a potential passenger. We look fonrvard to working with the Ohio Department of Transportation and Connect Ohio on this important transportation improvement project, and are pleased to express our support of this TIGER grant request.
