The new application has been available for Parcel customers since April 2009 and to all Direct Mail/Transactional Mail customers since November The new Business Desktop 2.0 still provides the same automation discount as well as secure and authenticated access to Canada Post but now also provides some of the following features and benefits: Easier to use Advanced Search functionality Context-sensitive help content Support for multiple users Built-in Organization Tools Address Book management Tracking Flexible printing options Pricing quotes and many more! The April 2010 release of the application addresses some minor technical issues and introduces some new enhancements that are detailed on the next page.. 2 Business Desktop 2.0 enhancements continued from p1 Here are some of the new enhancements introduced with this release: Parcels Print Order from Shipment List screen. You will now have the ability to select the order in which to print your shipment labels from a selection of shipments from the shipment list, or when triggering the print request directly from the Shipment folder. Please refer to the application s help content <F1> for additional information. Ability to sort on column header: You will now have the ability of sorting the information displayed in tables in some sections of the application simply by clicking on the column header. This will be available for most of the tables in the in the Data Maintenance, Device Configuration and End of Day sections of the Business Desktop with many more to come in future releases. Conversion Rate field now in Preferences and bulk edit screens. You will now have the ability to set a default value for the conversion rate in the application s preferences, or apply the value during a bulk edit (bulk shipping) process

3 Business Desktop 2.0 enhancements continued from p2 Bulk shipping Prepaids now available. You will now have the ability to prepare and process prepaid shipments in bulk. This will enable you to process prepaid unlabelled articles in bulk by providing the prepaid product code during the bulk edit process (where the Business Desktop will produce the shipping labels for your articles), or use a shipment import file to import and bulk ship prepaid labelled articles (where the prepaid product code and prepaid pin number is provided in the import file). Please refer to the application s help content <F1> for additional information. 3 decimals in weight fields. You will now have the ability to enter up to 3 decimals when providing a weight in the Business Desktop 2.0. This will support a more accurate representation of the actual weights of the articles you are inducting with CPC

4 Business Desktop 2.0 enhancements continued from p3 Mailings Publications Mail : Effective April 1, 2010, the Publications Assistance Program (PAP) will be discontinued. You will no longer declare the PAP subsidy on your Order (Statement of Mailing). For details about the elimination of PAP, please contact the Department of Canadian Heritage directly at Ability to print multiple Unaddressed Admail container labels on one PDF document. You will now have the ability of setting up preferences in the Business Desktop 2.0 that will print a PDF copy of the Unaddressed Admail containerization documents (ie. Container labels, mono/skid labels, NPS reports etc ). Furthermore, the documents will print on a single multi-page PDF (when applicable). Please refer to the application s help content <F1> for additional information. Refine Postal Code search in Unaddressed Admail Geographical coverage dialogue window. You will now have the ability to trigger the postal code search functionality in the Unaddressed Admail Geographical Coverage dialogue box by simply entering the first letter of the postal code (the system will now search exclusively against postal codes when only one character is used instead of also searching against delivery area names)

5 Business Desktop 2.0 enhancements continued from p4 Ability to allocate 2 reference fields (that print on the container labels) at the Delivery Installation level in Unaddressed Admail. When preparing a Unaddressed Admail mailing, you will now have the ability to use the reference #1 and reference #2 fields at the Delivery Installation level (values are set in the Review Mailing Plan screen). Please refer to the application s help content <F1> for additional information. Registered Mail users now have the option of uploading item tracking identifiers when creating their Statements of Mailing with the Business Desktop 2.0. With this release, tracking identifiers can now be uploaded when creating a new Lettermail Mailing using the Machineable Mail import file (field #4). This enables you to receive additional scans, and enables you to benefit from the advanced tracking features accessible within the Online Business Centre and also reduces data entry by automating the input and capture of the tracking identifiers for your mailing.
