2 Dogma on Combined Transport Combined Transport Road/Rail only makes sense on distances over 500km This assumption stems from the 1970-ties, when combined transports with sea-containers and trailers (Huckepack) started. From this moment on, this assumption has been in the heads of many (EU)-politicians. It took until now (2010+) to get this dogma out of our heads. We know now: combined transports road/rail can be interesting on much shorter distances. 2

6 National Swiss Cargo Volume In Switzerland 2/3 of the total transported cargo-volume is national transported cargo ( mio tonkm*). From this national transported cargo; 74% is transported on the road 26% is transported by rail (*transit north/south= mio tonkm: 40% by road / 60% by rail) 6

8 Concept of a fast cargo shuttle The central transport unit is a compact train consisting of: 5-10 permanently coupled 6 axle container wagons, designed for standard intermodal transport units like swap bodies and iso-containers It is a push-pull train, with two steering caps capable of operating in either direction. The driver simply walks to the other end of the train and takes control from the other cab. It can either run on the electrical main track at speeds up to 120 km/h, or drive into a private railway siding or terminal by using its diesel power. It behaves a like passenger train in terms of speed, acceleration, braking and momentum, allowing full scheduling on urban and suburban train networks. 8

13 Horizontal Transhipment Technique A new horizontal transhipment technique was developed by Innovatrain Ltd The company was founded in Mai 2010 Focus on new systems for fast cargo handling around rail transports Looking for simple, workable good quality solutions, to lower the barriers of transports by rail for shorter distances. 15 ContainerMover 3000 The ContainerMover 3000 System is a new and revolutionary way of loading and unloading containers on trains. A Truck with a ContainerMover 3000 System is capable of the direct horizontal transfer of standard containers like: - Standard swap-bodies; (EN-Norm: 7.45 m / 7.15 m / 7.82 m) - Standard 20 containers: 15

16 ContainerMover 3000 The same Truck you use for transport and distribution is used to transfer a container in just 3 minutes to and from the rail-way wagon. The system is operated by a remote controll. You only need a road or asphalted area of minimum 3 meters width, parallel to the railway-tracks. Dependent on the truck-dimensions, the Containermover can transfer weights up to 22 tons. The 3 axle truck f.i., equipped with a containermover-system, is capable of transporting up to 16 tons.
