1 Introduction The purpose of this document is to assist the user in correcting errors in his data in the GDSN data pool of 1WorldSync. For this purpose, a selection of affected attributes will be explained in more detail later and supplemented with concrete maintenance instructions. Due to the variety of the attributes in the German target market and the numerous validation rules, this document can only refer to a selection of maintenance instructions for the most important attributes and validation rules. Section 2 contains typical errors of the EU FOOD INFORMATION FOR CONSUMERS REGULATION (NO. 1169/2011) relevant attributes. Section 3 discusses various validation rules. Further comments on this document: The numbers in square brackets [Mxxx] refer to the ID under which the attribute is listed in the documentation of 1WorldSync (Compendium and Profile Overview) 1. The prefix "VR" stands for "validation rule". This, in combination with the number, facilitates the search in the sent GLN error report of the DQG as well as in the Profile Overview of 1WorldSync. This document is being continuously developed. The publication is irregular. You can download the latest version from the Smart Data One website [Data Quality Gate / DQG Download Center]. For questions regarding the GLN error report as well as individual validation rules or other matters concerning the Data Quality Gate or the data quality program of GS1 Germany, please contact the DQG Hotline. 5 2 Food information regulation Maintaining the selected attributes is generally compulsory for all food items and they must be filled with every basic item in the GDSN, even if different exceptions confirm the rule: for so-called "mono products", e.g. no ingredient list needs to be maintained and for different alcoholics no nutritional values are required to be displayed. However, these are exceptions. Please check if you have provided the required information in your assortment. If not, the quick reference guides for data maintenance should help you, even if they cannot exhaustively cover all aspects. Further information on the EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation (No. 1169/2011)- compliant data maintenance can be found, for example, in the "GDSN Implementation Guide" of GS1 Germany GmbH Regulated product name [M261] In particular: VR Regulated product name [M261] The legal name of the food is mandatory and must always be stated. Example: Marble cake - sponge cake coated with chocolate 2.2 Ingredient statement [M047] In particular: VR Ingredient statement [M047] The ingredient statement must always be provided unless the attachment of an ingredient statement in accordance with article 19 EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation (No. 1169/2011) is explicitly excluded. The ingredient statement must always begin with one of these terms: "Ingredients", "Ingredients List" and "Contains" or with a label containing the word "Ingredients". The allergens and intolerances causing substances are to be capitalized in the list. Traces of such substances are part of the ingredient statement as well as footnotes. The ingredient statement in the GDSN is 1:1 from the ingredients list as it shows up on the packaging. Example: Ingredients: Water, BARLEY MALT, hops 2 GDSN Implementation Guide for technical application under the food information regulation (GS1 Germany) FOOD INFORMATION FOR CONSUMERS REGULATION (NO. 1169/2011)_Mapping_v4.1.pdf Version 1.1, March Smart Data One GmbH Page 5 of 12
2.3 Contact name [M370] & Contact address [M371] In particular: VR Contact name [M370] VR Contact address [M371] Responsible for information about food is the food business operator under whose name or company the food is marketed or, if that company is not established in the European Union, the importer who imports the food into the EU. The contact name and contact address of the food business operator(s) appearing on the packaging must be indicated (EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation (No. 1169/2011) Chapter IV, Art. 9, No. (1) h). Example: Contact name: Contact address: Staatliches Brauhaus GmbH Brauallee 1, Köln 2.4 Nutritional information [M057, M058, M059, M072] The nutrition declaration consists essentially of the so-called "Big 7" and is fully compulsory for the reference quantity per 100g or 100ml. The "Big 7" is the following information: (1) Energy (kcal/kj) (2) Fat und (3) of which saturated fatty acids (4) Carbohydrates and (5) of which sugar (6) Protein (7) Salt. All this information must be in the unit of grams. Only the values "Approximate value (~) (APPROXIMATELY)" or "Less than (<) (LESS_THAN)" are permitted as an indication of the accuracy of the measurement. In addition, the reference quantity must be stated literally: "Reference intake of an average adult (8400 kj/2000 kcal)". Important note: In the case of mineral waters, the nutrition declaration is replaced by an indication of the analytical composition, identifying the characteristic components of mineral waters. Here, the same GDSN fields as in the nutrition declaration are used. Only the reference quantity (here: grams per liter) and the individual code values for the minerals listed on the packaging differ from the nutritional information. 2.5 Daily value intake reference [M073] In particular: VR Daily value intake reference [M073] Version 1.1, March Smart Data One GmbH Page 6 of 12
The daily value intake reference must be provided once the energy and nutrition declarations are filled. The reference quantity must be stated literally: Reference intake of an average adult (8400 kj/2000 kcal). Important note: The strings are also accepted: "Reference intake of an average adult (8400 kj/2000 kcal)" and "Reference intake of an average adult (8400kJ/2000kcal)". Version 1.1, March Smart Data One GmbH Page 7 of 12
3 Validation rules In the following you will find suggestions on troubleshooting selected errors. 3.1 VR GPC Brick [M317] This rule checks the value of the GPC brick [M317] for the temporary classification ( ). The specification "temporary classification ( )" is not permitted. Please check the GPC brick you have chosen and change it to a correct code that correctly classifies the respective item. 3.2 VR Import classification: Type [M230] This rule checks the attributes Import classification: Value [M229] Import classification: Type [M230] A customs tariff number consists of eleven digits, with the first eight digits of the customs tariff number giving the Intrastat number. Since the attribute "Import classification: Value [M229]" has eleven digits, the value "(CUSTOMS_TARIFF_NUMBER) - Tariff number" must be selected in the attribute "Import classification: Type [M230]". Or you must complement the attribute "Import classification: Value [M229]" appropriately. Check which type of import classification number you have specified (length of the number series) and enter the appropriate value in the attribute "Import Classification: Type [M230]". 3.3 VR Import classification: Type [M230] This rule checks the attributes Import classification: Value [M229] Import classification: Type [M230] A customs tariff number consists of eleven digits, with the first eight digits of the customs tariff number giving the Intrastat number. Since the attribute "Import classification: Value [M229]" has eight digits, the value "(INTRASTAT) - Version 1.1, March Smart Data One GmbH Page 8 of 12
system for information and statistics on trade in goods between EU countries" must be selected in the attribute "Import classification: Type [M230]". Or you must complement the attribute "Import classification: Value [M229]" appropriately. Check which type of import classification number you have specified (length of the number series) and enter the appropriate value in the attribute "Import Classification: Type [M230]". 3.4 VR Import classification: Type [M230] This validation rule checks whether the import classification number specified in the attribute is valid according to the goods list. This classification code serves to determine duties or customs for the import and export of this product. For the foreign trade statistics, the indication of the goods number of the goods list or a customs tariff number for the import and export is necessary. To correct this error, please check if the import classification number you specified is up-to-date according to the goods list. 3.5 VR Consumer storage instructions [M362] This validation rule checks whether the following two attributes have the same text: Consumer storage instructions [M362] Consumer usage instructions [M363] This circumstance results regularly from the automated migration of the data after the Major Release 3 of May To date, the information in the above-mentioned attributes summarized in a single attribute. The switch under the Major Release 3 changed it. The goal is that the two attributes in the respective fields are maintained separately. To correct this error, split the existing text thematically into the two attributes storage and usage instructions. 3.6 VR Case Level Non GTIN: Width [M299] This validation rule checks whether the Case Level Non GTIN: Width [M299] is maintained according to the measurement specified in Platform Type Code [M300] (+/-1%). The specification must correspond to the dimensions of the pallet selected under Platform Type Code [M300] (+/-1%). Version 1.1, March Smart Data One GmbH Page 9 of 12
To correct this error, please check whether you have given the value [M299] the correct information for the Case Level Non GTIN: Width [M299]. Example: Platform Type Code (11) 800 x 1200 mm Here, the correct value would be Case Level Non GTIN: Width [M299] 800 (+/- 1% tolerance). 3.7 VR Case Level Non GTIN: Depth [M298] This validation rule checks whether the Case Level Non GTIN: Depth [M298] is maintained according to the measurement specified in Platform Type Code [M300] (+/-1%). The specification must correspond to the dimensions of the pallet selected under Platform Type Code [M300] (+/-1%). To correct this error, please check whether you have given the value [M298] the correct information for the Case Level Non GTIN: Depth [M298]. Example: Platform Type Code (11) 800 x 1200 mm Here, the correct value would be Case Level Non GTIN: Depth [M298] 800 (+/- 1% tolerance). Version 1.1, March Smart Data One GmbH Page 10 of 12
