Klosterhalfen 2/6 Research Interests My research focuses on quantitative decision-support models for supply chain management, in particular inventory management in a single- and multi-echelon context, as well as the general application of operations management models and methods to real-world problems, esp. in the process industry. Topics at the interface to other business functions, such as strategic planning or management accounting, represent another focus area of mine. Examples of this work include, amongst others, comparing and optimizing dual-sourcing inventory control policies in a singleechelon setting, extending multi-echelon inventory models to incorporate dual sourcing, integrating two distinct multi-echelon safety stock optimization approaches into a new joint framework, optimizing the rail car fleet of a chemical company, and developing a cost-to-serve approach that accounts for overhead allocation and production/distribution constraints.
