2 Background I There are two types of railway undertakings (RU)s: large national RUs small private RUs Growing collaboration between both types demands a solution for train data exchange between them. National railway undertakings (RUs) use for data exchange about trains so called H30 (UIC application 30, train consist preadvice message). H30 is considered as de-facto standard solution for train data delivery (incl. locos, wagons, consignments and containers) 2

3 Background II H30 limitations: - It is complex requires large IS and databases - Makes sense for big trains & wagons volumes only - Usage is formally limited to UIC-GRU members (at least one side of the exchange should be a member) IS Limitations: - Large RUs for their production need to get the data into their information system (if possible via H30) - but Small RUs mostly do the train documentation with use of light easy IT (so do/can not have H30) 3

4 Solution: HIT Rail developed HEROS HEROS is set of tools to support inter- connectivity between Hermes railway clients HIT Rail provides connectivity services for railways, mainly the Hermes VPN network For freight, HEROS supports train consist data exchange between RUs with: different level of IT systems, different versions of H30 message different communication protocols 4

5 H30 Form H30 Form is one of the HEROS tools It is web application for small RUs Interconnects them with large RUs Heros ensures conversion between web-forms and the xml messages: small RU uses the H30 Form web large RU uses the H30 Message No new development required at RU side. 5

7 Heros Platform - Development - Application developed for HIT Rail by OLTIS (Czech IT company), comms part delivered by Copernicus (NL) - Production - Support - Security - Runs at SNCB IT computer centre in Brussels, on dedicated new, fully redundant and supervised platform - Provided by HIT Rail support team (involved SNCB-IT and Copernicus /Oltis) - Maximum level thanks to the newest technology - Data Confidentiality guarranteed! 7

8 H30 Form Functions for hand-over of (outgoing) trains: - Capture of train data on the web - Many features to make the work easier & faster - Template of multiple used train sets - Reuse of data of previous trains - Sending of H30 message to partner RU - Using required xml version and communication method - Storage of sent data - for internal RU purposes or eventual reuse 8

9 Features Two modes of capture: - Lite only basic information (minimum to create xml message) - Full possibility to capture almost all xml message content - Lite version will be likely the main mode except special needs - Possible switch from Lite to Full & vice versa Existing features: - Language mutations: EN, DE, FR, PL, CZ (others possible) - Built-in logical checks and validations (vs. schema, values ) - Built-in code lists for almost all coded elements (incl. stations, nhm goods, dangerous goods ) - Copying features (e.g. for wagon details) See some screen examples: 9

24 Conditions For Hermes VPN Clients: - Access to Heros through Hermes - Access to H30 Form via Hermes or Internet - Usage included in the Hermes connection fee - Standard fees for sent/received data For other Clients: - Access to H30 Form through the Internet - H30 Form usage contract with HIT Rail - Low yearly&usage fee (tests for free) 24
