SERVICE BULLETIN (OPTIONAL) N.: REV. 6 ATA CHAPTER: MODIFICATION N.: TITLE: P180 AVANTI II LOCALIZER PERFORMANCE WITH VERTICAL GUIDANCE (LPV) REVISION STATUS OF THE BULLETIN This Service Bulletin (SB) is at Revision 6 status and consists of 9 pages, plus Confirmation Slip. This Service Bulletin is revised to: modify Para.1.A. Effectivity; update format and content to current publication standards; This Revision supersedes previous issue of this Service Bulletin. No further action is required to operators that have already accomplished to the previous issue of this Service Bulletin. The parts which are affected by this Revision are marked with a vertical line on the right side of the Page. 1. PLANNING INFORMATION A. EFFECTIVITY Piaggio Aero Industries (PAI) P180 Avanti II Manufacturer s Serial Number (MSN): 1110, 1124, 1149, 1156, 1157, 1207, 1222, 1224 and The following airplanes, provided CONCURRENT REQUIREMENTS listed below are fulfilled, are eligible to be included in the effectivity list: P180 Avanti II from 1105 thru 1232, 1234, 3001 and subsequent. As exception to the above listed, the following airplanes are excluded from the eligibility list: MSN 1180, 1195, 1218 and Airplanes already embodying in series production PAI Design Change no If an aircraft already complied with this OPTIONAL Service Bulletin is expected to change its State of Registry, operator must verify with PAI the effectivity of this Service Bulletin within the new State of Registry. 2 B. CONCURRENT REQUIREMENTS This OPTIONAL Service Bulletin requires: PAI modification no FMS Upgrade to 4.1 status & GPS for SBAS or PAI Service Bulletin no latest revision: embodied. Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System, in accordance with PAI modifications or relevant Service Bulletin (such as, but not limited to, PAI modification no or PAI SB no latest revision): not embodied. Any modification not designed by Piaggio Aero Industries, intended to install a TAWS Class A, or EGPWS system: not embodied. C. REASON This OPTIONAL Service Bulletin gives the instructions to provide the P180 Avanti II Flight Management System (FMS) with the Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance (LPV) approach capability. In addition, a secondary function is enabled: Temperature Compensation improving the APV-Baro (Approach Procedure with Barometric Vertical guidance) approach procedures. Revision history: Revision 1 (dated Jan. 14 th, 2014) was issued to update the a/c effectivity paragraph with MSNs 1222 and Revision 2 (dated June 27 th, 2014) was issued to update the a/c effectivity paragraph with MSN Revision 3 (dated July 3 rd, 2015) was issued to update the a/c effectivity paragraph with MSN Revision 4 (dated Sept. 20 th, 2016) was issued to update the a/c effectivity paragraph with MSN Revision 5 (dated June 14 th, 2016) was issued to update the a/c effectivity paragraph with MSN D. DESCRIPTION General This OPTIONAL Service Bulletin consists of the following: (a). (b). (c). access to the Integrated Avionics Processor System (IAPS) electronic boards; replacement of the Options Control Modules (OCM-3100) mounted on the Configuration Strapping Unit (CSU-3100) boards; verification of the correct introduction of Supplement no. 28 into P180 Avanti II Airplane Flight Manual. 5 2. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS Procedure (1) Remove electrical power in accordance with AMM TASK and TASK (2) Pull and tag applicable system circuit breakers: L IAPS and R IAPS. (3) Refer to AMM TASK , remove the radome/nosecone. (4) Referring to AMM TASK , remove the left and right CSU (CSU- 3100) boards. (5) On the left and right CSU boards replace the OCM-3100 modules with the new ones P/N (refer also to FIG. 1). (6) Referring to FIG. 2, set to 1 (Enabled) the configuration switch bit no. 4 of configuration word no. 10. (7) Referring to AMM TASK , re-install the left and right CSU (CSU- 3100) boards. (8) Remove the safety tags and close circuit breakers previously pulled out: L IAPS and R IAPS. (9) Restore electrical power in accordance with AMM TASK and TASK (10) On the FMS Control Display Unit (CDU), verify the following: (10a) TEMP COMP feature enabled in the main menu; NOTE: Shown CDU information and settings are indicative only. (10b) accessibility to the Main Menu page SBAS SERVICE PROVIDERS; Rev. N. 6 Date: Page: 5 of 9

6 NOTE: Shown CDU information and settings are indicative only. (11) Refer to AMM TASK , install the radome/nosecone. (12) Ascertain that the Avanti II Airplane Flight Manual (Report no. 180-MAN , Rev. A4) is updated with the following Supplement: Supplement No. 28 for LPV, APV-BARO TEMP COMPENSATION or LPV, APV-BARO TEMP COMP. AND VIDEO INPUT. (13) Complete the attached Confirmation Slip and send it back to Piaggio Aero Industries S.p.A.. (14) Make an appropriate entry in the airplane logbook to show compliance with this Service Bulletin. NOTE 1: NOTE 2: any aircraft complied with this OPTIONAL SB that is expected to install a TAWS Class A / EGPWS system (through a relevant PAI SB or any modifications not designed by PAI) must remove the present Service Bulletin no to restore the aircraft pre-sb configuration, proceed in reverse from step (6) to step (5) of the accomplishment instructions of this Service Bulletin: (a). reconfiguration of the CSU boards; (b). reinstallation of pre-mod OCM-3100 module part numbers.
