1 Holy Cross College Year 9 Commerce Assessment Task Notification Assessment Task No: Date Issued Date Due Weighting % Total Marks 1 Week 5, Term 1 Week 7, Term SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS Students are to submit all electronic copies of their chosen matrix activities on their Commerce Google Drive Folder no later than your last Commerce lesson in Week 7, Term 1 The activities that cannot be submitted electronically are to be submitted during your last Commerce lesson in Week 7. Unforeseen illness or misadventure on the day the student must complete the Illness/Misadventure (IM) application for extension on the first day back at school regardless of whether he has the subject on that day. He must submit the task, or undertake the test, on his return to school and he will be informed of the result of his application when it has been processed. For a medical reason a doctor s certificate will be required. Please note also that penalties will apply if a late submission is not supported by the relevant documentation. See below. Known absence prior to the due date the student must apply for determination / extension, as soon as possible before the original due date of task. If it has been granted, the task can be submitted on the new due date without penalty. Non Submission: Day 1 Your teacher will write a note in your diary. At this point 25% will be deducted. Day 2 Your teacher will phone home. At this point 50% will be deducted. Day 3 The KLA coordinator will issue an N Letter and detention. Zero mark awarded. CONTEXT (OR PURPOSE) FOR THE TASK This assessment task will enable students to identify, research and evaluate options when making decisions related to solving those problems and issues that confront consumers. TASK RUBRIC Students will be assessed on their ability to: 1. Identify, gather and evaluate information and organise and communicate your knowledge and understanding 2. Communicate information, ideas and issues. 3. Work independently and collaboratively to complete the task activities and requirements within the given timeframes. 4. Utilise business, commerce and legal terminology effectively. Page 1 of 5
2 OUTCOMES BEING ASSESSED, GENERAL CAPABILITIES & CROSS CURRICULUM PRIORITIES Applies consumer, financial, business, legal and employment concepts and terminology in a variety of contexts. Analyses the rights and responsibilities of individuals in a range of consumer, financial, business, legal and employment contexts. 5.4 Analyses key factors affecting commercial and legal decisions. 5.9 Works independently and collaboratively to meet individual and collective goals within specified timelines. THE TASK Learning Matrix based on Bloom's Taxonomy and Multiple Intelligences (20 marks) This assessment consists of multiple small tasks that are catered to different abilities and learning styles based on Bloom s Taxonomy and Multiple Intelligences. Students are allowed to choose tasks that best suit their strengths. They are also encouraged to select tasks that will challenge them in new ways. You are required to select a number of activities from the learning matrix that is provided to you on the following pages. You must not choose more than three activities from each point line. Each activity is has a point score and you need to complete a number of activities to attain a maximum score of 20. The mark allocation for each Bloom s Taxonomy category is what your submitted activity will be marked out of. Submission Instructions The due date listed on page one is the final due date for ALL chosen Matrix Activities to be completed by. You are required to submit a soft copy of all activities via Google Drive, and those activities that cannot be submitted online, must be given to your Commerce teacher during your last Commerce lesson in Week 7. Each student must submit activities equalling to 20 points. If there is a group activity, all members must submit the final product (you must make note on the final product, of who was involved in your group). The assessment task notification is to be submitted with your name and class clearly marked. Page 2 of 5
