2 May 2013 in comparison to the previous year 1 Current overview of hotel performance for selected destinations in Germany: Berlin: Occ: 77%, ADR: 88, RevPar: 68 May in Berlin was much worse than last year (RevPar down 3%), mainly due to the 4% fall in ADR. This was largely down to the absence of the EFORT Congress and the timing of the public holidays, combined with the poor weather, which discouraged short-term bookings. Dresden: Occ: 75%, ADR: 81, RevPar: 60 May in Dresden was far busier than last year, despite the overcast and cool weather (RevPar: up 16%). This was due to both the higher average rate (ADR up 6%) and the much better occupancy figures. Main reason: Strong leisure-sector demand over the public holidays. Dusseldorf: Occ: 60%, ADR: 90, RevPar: 54 The overall performance in May in Dusseldorf was, as expected, very poor compared to last year (RevPar: down 59%), mainly due to the 51% fall in ADR. This year, the absence of the Drupa event (held only every 4 years) made itself apparent. In 2012, it had been a major influence on the hotel market in Dusseldorf. Frankfurt: Occ: 66%, ADR: 113 RevPar: 75 May in Frankfurt was significantly better than in 2012 (RevPar: up 5%), due mainly to a big (8%) improvement in ADR. Main reasons: The IFFA trade show (held only every three years) ran from 4 to 9 May this year, and the annual IMEX fair ran from 21 to 23 May Hamburg: Occ 82%, ADR 116, RevPar 95 May was generally weaker than last year, due mainly to a big decline in rates (ADR: -3%). 3 Munich: Occ: 75%, ADR: 117, RevPar: 88 The May figures were not a big surprise for Munich hoteliers: the Trendbarometer had already predicted negative development. RevPar fell by 21% compared to the 2012 figure, influenced not least by a significantly weaker ADR (down 19%).
