3 12. Do you support Maine's tax exempt bonding by quasi state agencies including Maine Health & Higher Education Facilities Authority's ability to provide access to low interest loans to institutions like hospitals, nursing hones, and public colleges? 13. 2) Experts have indicated our state is currently facing a shortage of affordable senior housing throughout Maine. What measures would you support to meet the demand? Tax Exempt Bonds Issued by MSHA General Obligation Bonds Restore Full Funding of the State Home Fund via Real Estate Transfer Tax 14. Do you support the use of general obligation bonds to fund transportation projects such as roads, bridges and commercial ports? 1. Higher education facilities in Maine report significant needs for building infrastructure and classroom technology. What are your priorities for higher education facilities in Maine? 1. Maine s transportation system is comprised of 22,839 roads and 2,393 bridges carrying 14. billion vehicle miles each year. Page 3
4 17. Rank by importance your preferred method to pay for infrastructure improvements: General Obligation Bonds General Fund Gas Tax Annual Fee Based on Vehicle Miles Traveled Tolls 18. Over the last few years several proposals have developed for the legalization of recreational marijuana. Do you support legalization? 2. What are your top three legislative priorities? 2. Governor LePage has issued an RFP to conduct a study on the possible expansion of hydropower in Maine. Share your thoughts about hydropower and its future: Page
6 27. In 2013, Construction workers pay in Maine averaged $43,700, 13% more than all private sector employees in the state. However, we are concerned about the future availability of a skilled workforce. What measures should Maine invest in to develop technical and trade skills? 28. Have you visited a local contractor to discuss your vision for Maine? If not, would you be willing to meet and discuss the industry? 29. Our industry is diverse, and constantly changing. We encourage our elected leaders to learn more about companies providing good jobs to Maine residents. Below are some of the ways we communicate and encourage you to indicate the news or events that interest you: Blueprint Magazine: Quarterly Magazine with industry news, legislative reviews, and opinion and feature stories Regional Events: AGC Maine meets around the state with premier guest speakers and often localized topics. This is a chance to meet with local business owners directly. Site Tours: AGC invites local, state and federal leaders to setup a site visit on projects to provide insight to construction activities and barriers. Page
