3 ASIC TECHNICAL FACTS The original label Teflon by DuPont Collaboration Internal function print or label Double welding technology Aqua Guard YKK Zippers Water Pressure = W/P Waterproof/breathable fabrics resist liquid water passing through, but allow water vapour to pass through. Their ability to block out rain and snow while allowing vapour from sweat to evaporate leads to their use in rain. Standard laboratory testing defines the performance of these fabrics. Water resistance is measured by the amount of water, in mm, which can be suspended above the fabric before water seeps through. Typical mid-range fabrics tend to have values of 5,000 mm of water resistance, high performance active sportswear can have up to 20,000 mm. We define water repellency as fabrics above 3000mm-5000mm and waterproof above mm This is of course supported by taping and welding that closes the stitch holes of the garment. We collaborate only with Teflon by DuPont, a registered Trademark. The finish we use is based on short-chain chemistry, that has undergone extensive environmental, health and safety testing and has been approved for textile use by regulatory authorities around the world. The Short-chain Teflon by Dupont - Capstone technology has non detectable values and is today considered to be a safe product, Oeko-Tex certified and is proven through intensive testing not to be able to break down to PFOA. Our products are therefor considered safe. reathability or Moisture vapour transmission rate= M/P Is measured by the rate at which water vapour passes through, in grams of water vapour per square meter of fabric per 24-hour period (g/m2/d) often abbreviated to just g. Typical mid-range fabrics tend to have values of 3000g/ m2-5,000g /m2 of breathability; the best materials have 20,000g/ m2 and are often produced as inner-layers. Waterproof Membrane A waterproof membrane is a thin layer that has lots of microscopic pores, which are big enough to allow water vapour (that s sweat!) to be released, but small enough to stop water droplets getting in. The membrane is also what makes a jacket breathable. TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethane) membrane is our preferred choice for our RAIN selection. Taped seams When you take waterproof material and sew through it, you punch holes through the waterproofing. These holes need to be sealed up, and the easiest way to do that is for the manufacturer to apply a hotmelt tape over the seams. Taped seams require high technology and know-how as to the exact temperature of the tape not to burn or destroy the main fabric. Welding technics on seams Heat fusion, also called heat welding, is a welding process used to join two different pieces of a thermoplastic - in our case, PU. This process involves heating both pattern parts simultaneously and pressing them together, by pressing a shaped welding form on top of the two fabric parts. When done properly, the two pieces become indistinguishable from each other. Aqua Guard YKK Zippers We work only with the best developed technologies, even when we select our zippers. YKK is a market leader. Our waterproof zippers are called Aqua Guard and are uniquely developed for the ILSE JACOSEN HORNÆK selection. A two-way solution is selected to improve performance and reduce strain on the bottom end of the zipper. Oeko-Tex 100 Is the certification of environmentally friendly production facilities according to Oeko-Tex Standard 1000 for products tested for harmful substances from environmentally friendly production. NOOS: Never out of stock colors. New seasonal colors and even styles will have a chance to show performance and will be evaluated if needed in our future NOOS program.
