3 1 1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The company has been awarded work of constructing NH-43 joining Raipur city to Kodebaad (Span Km to Km) by National Highway Authority of India. The gitti required for road will be produced from proposed area applied for quarry permit under rule 58 of Chhattisgarh Minor Mineral Rule-2015 for the period of 2 years. 5 2. INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT / BACKGROUND INFORMATION Sl. (A Construction Company) 2 Brief description or nature of the project. 3 Need of the project and its importance to the country and region The production of 2,00,000 tonne per year calls for Semimechanised opencast method of mining. The mining operation includes drilling in exposed ore by series of DTH (Down the hammer) holes of 105 mm diameter and 6.0 meter depth. The initial opening of deposit is made by box cut. The hole is then charged and blasted with large diameter cartridge explosive (83 mm). The blasted muck will then be sized with the help of rock breaker and loaded into the tipper with the help of excavator. The sized material is then crushed The Cemented roads construction are more favourable to the Govt. as the life of these road is more and maintenance cost is low in comparision to the conventional TAR roads. Being near to the mixing plant it is feasible to extract GITTI from this quarry. The quarry will support in timely finish of the project. 3

6 4 Demand Supply Gap As stated in point 3, it is required to supply sufficient 5 Import vs. Indigenous production. quantity of road metal to the mixing plant so that it shall be used at road construction site. All the extracted limestone shall be used in the same road project. There is more demand than the supply. From above, it appears that in this region, all necessary requirements are available to produce Limestone, therefore import is not envisaged.. 6 Export possibility Present production can hardly be enough to meet the 7 Domestic /Export markets 8 Employment generation (Direct or indirect) demand of the road project, therefore, there are no possibilities for export of Limestone. It is not required to market the Limestone of the quarry in export market or likewise, but to consume all product in the road project. In the proposed mining unit, about 31 people will be employed directly &15-20 local labours will be hired for other supporting activities. 4

7 3. PROJECT DESCRIPTION Sl. Finally road whole road project is also dependent on this quarry production in somehow. The main advantage of this site is the lesser distance from the mixing plant of the road project. 8 5 Project description with The production of 2,00,000 tonne per year calls for Semi-mechanised opencast method of mining. The process details: (a schematic mining operation includes drilling in exposed ore by diagram/flowchart layout, series of DTH (Down the hammer) holes of 105 mm diameter and 6.0 meter depth. The sized material is then crushed Drilling: The drilling operation will be done using compressed air operated DTH drill having wet drilling operation. Drilling is not required in overburden benches and in ore benches drilling is done with series of holes having burden 3.0 meter and spacing 4.0 meter having depth of 6.0 meters. Usually staggered pattern is used for performing drilling sequence. Loading: The blasted mass will be broken with the help of rock breaker into the size of 800 mm size boulders. The broken material will then be loaded with the help of small size excavator into the tippers. Hauling and Transport: The loaded material will be hauled to the surface at the crushing site of located in acquired area of applicant and unloaded at the site of crushing. 6

9 6 Raw Material required along with estimated Quantity, likely source, marketing area of final products, mode of Transport of raw material & finished product. 7 Resources optimization/recycling and reuse envisaged in the project, if any, should be briefly outlined. NA No recycling envisaged in the project, however the quarry water shall be used for dust suppression on roads. 8 Availability of Water its source, Energy/Power requirement and source In the proposed limestone mining project approx. 9 KLD water will be required. Water will be sourced through own bore well for drinking purpose (2 KL approx..). Electric connection of 2 HP for dewatering. 9 Quantity of waste to be generated (Liquid and solid) and scheme for their management. It is considered that about 10 % of the waste material (overburden + topsoil) will be generated which shall be stacked separately at suitable place. Plantation will be done on the 7.5 mtr statutory barrier zone site. 7

10 4. SITE ANALYSIS Sl. Particulars Description 1 Connectivity Road: The mine is well connected with all weather metal road and intersects at about 4.0 KM from National Highway No. 30 which connects Raipur-Dhamtari-Jagdalpur-Vishakhapattanam (Tar Road). Mines is situated at a distance of 22.0 kms and 9.0 kms from Raipur and Abhanpur (Tehsil) respectively via NH 3 0 (Tar road). Railhead: The nearest Rail Head is Kendri Railway Station whi ch is 6.0 km from the lease and is situated at Raipur-Dhamatari narrow guage line. Raipur Railway station which is situated on Mumbai Howrah Main Railway Line is 22.0 kms from the lease area. Water: Water is available in Dug well and Borewell in Bendri village. The area is drained mainly by small seasonal nallahs. No sub-perennial or perennial source of water as river or stream is available within the area. But numbers of Ponds, tanks and canals with their distributaries for irrigation purposes are present in the area. Kurud Tank and its distributory canals are important irrigation features of the area. No such type of area. 8

12 5. PLANNING BRIEF Sl. 13 6. PROPOSED INFRASTRUCTURE Sl. Particulars 1 Industrial Area (Processing Area) Description No major infrastructures are proposed at the quarry permit area as it is for a short duration. However all welfare amenities like Drinking Water, and rest shelters. Quarry shall be fenced off later. 2 Residential Area NA (Non-processing Area) 3 Green Belt Green belt will be developed and maintained all along the quarry area.as described in approved Quarry Plan afforestation is proposed in surrounding area as per the description. NIL Power will be required for the proposed mining. 7. REHABILITATION AND RESETTLEMENT (R&R) PLAN Sl. Particulars Description 1 Policy to be adopted (Central/State) in respect of the project affected persons including home ouster, land ousters and landless laborers (a brief outline to be given) Other Rehabilitation Jobs 1 Water filling of the mined out area will be started after completing life of mines. 2. Fencing of mined out area with gate & caution board will be displayed after completing life of mines. 3 Educating Gram Panchayat & local bodies about contemporary area condition will be started one year before life of mines. 4 Handing over of mined out area to local authorities will be completed after one year of life of mines. Simultaneous consultation with local authorities and gram panchayat would be done to make them conversant with the contemporary situation. Any other allied activities suggested by DGM or local authorities would be taken care. 12

15 8. PROJECT SCHEDULE & COST ESTIMATE Sl. 16 9. ANALYSIS OF PROPOSAL (FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS) (Financial & Social benefits with special emphasis on the benefit to the local people including tribal population, if any, in the area.) In view of the above, and targeted supply of Limestone (Gitti) to the mixing plant of the road project the proposed Limestone quarrying activity will assist to achieve the timely completion of the road project. However, from the proposed Limestone excavation activity additional150 to 200 people will earn their livelihood directly or indirectly. Additionally, the quarrying activity of Limestone as well as its allied activities has very less impact on the surrounding environment, as all technical measures shall be taken and implemented. Moreover, on the basis of this project certain positive impact will be on local area people and villages. Direct and indirect employment and business will be generated due to the project. Hence this project may be cleared and clearance accorded. 14
