The Global Exhibitions Division organises transaction-oriented Exhibitions and trade shows, which provide buyers and sellers across different industries and communities with a powerful platform to meet face to face, build relationships and conduct business. Informa has a portfolio of over 150 Exhibitions, serving a number of core verticals, including Health & Nutrition, Beauty, Property & Construction and Pop Culture. The Knowledge & Networking Division incorporates all of the Group s training, learning, conference, advisory and congress businesses. It organises content-driven events and programmes that provide a platform for communities to meet, network and share knowledge. It runs around 3,000 conferences and training events across the globe each year, covering a range of subject areas, but with a particular focus on Life Sciences, TMT and Finance. The fifth division is Global Support, which is right at the heart of Informa. Global Support ensures the business meets our obligations, protects our assets, collaborates across divisions and ensures all operations consistently run to the highest standards. The Group Finance function along with Strategy and Business Planning, Technology, Corporate Finance, Group Treasury, Group Tax, HR, IPCo, Legal and Shared Services ensure together that all operations run consistently across the business, to the highest standards. 4 ROLE SUMMARY GLOBAL SUPPORT ANALYST This role sits within the Global Support (GS) Division, one of the five Divisions making up Informa plc, tasked with providing support to the four other operating divisions. The GS Division is sub-divided into two main organisation verticals Group Functions Global Business Services (GBS) Within the first vertical are the standard Corporate / Head Office cost centre departments such as Leadership; M&A; Finance and Talent Management to name a few, and within the later vertical we have Finance Shared Services, Group IT and Group HR (again to name a few). Together they comprise a cost base of some 90m annually. The Analyst role reports into the Global Support Divisional Controller The analyst will be expected to work closely with the divisional controller as well as senior Group leaders The role will also require contact with the Shared Service Centres who are responsible for producing the financial detail for the GBS vertical and the Head Office Accountant who produces the financial detail for the Group Functions. The role will require work with the other divisions to help drive joined up business planning and budgeting activity. Whilst Global Business Services has now been established as a vertical, there will continue to be further evolution through 2017 and this role will support that. There will be occasions when the role will be required to deputise for the Divisional Controller. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Group Functions vertical Financial Planning and Analysis activities: Assist in pulling together a high-level summary view of the expected month end numbers pre-submission to Group Finance on WD4 Assist in pulling together a high-level summary view of the monthly FY forecast numbers pre-submission to Group Finance of WD5 Variance analysis of actual, budget and forecast gross costs as well as where relevant recharges to supported Divisions Assist in producing financial commentary Decision support and analysis activities: Provide robust challenge around finance variances Provide review and challenge to capital expenditures, and to ensure that appropriate costs have been capitalised in accordance with IFRS Assist in the tracking of benefits arising from Divisional projects (e.g.: GLOBE) Business Partnering: To Group Functions Supporting advancing end to end cost management across Informa Assist in providing cost control and review to Divisional projects Role Profile Global Support Analyst Informa PLC 4
5 Global Business Services vertical [whilst underlying detail will be produced / prepared within Shared Services there is a key role to be played in pulling together high-level summaries in advance of reporting deadlines and assisting general and financial management in the challenge of numbers and variances] Financial Planning and Analysis activities: Assist in pulling together a high-level summary view of the expected month end numbers pre-submission to Group Finance on WD4 Assist in pulling together a high-level summary view of the monthly FY forecast numbers pre-submission to Group Finance of WD5 Variance analysis of actual, budget and forecast gross costs as well as where relevant recharges to supported Divisions Assist in producing financial commentary Business Partnering: Assist and support use of metrics and KPIs to drive performance Assist and support in the management of demand and recharges between divisions and Global Support Assist and support in the achievement of a robust business plan and budget Overall Support an efficient and effective budgeting and forecasting process, (including standardised templates) within the Division such that it meet s the Groups timetable Provide assistance to Divisional verticals / operations in preparing the operating budget / capital plan where requested Lead on the preparation of the monthly trading review pack Provide assistance and support to the annual 3 year Business Planning process with respect to the Division Undertake vendor spend analysis Look for opportunities for cost savings and improved cost control Collaborate with Global Process owners to identify impacts arising from changes or to request process changes Drive a culture of excellence and compliance to Global Policies Communicate and discuss issues and risks with the Group Financial Accounting and Planning Director as well as divisional management and co-ordinate successful resolution of issues Assist in the production of financial presentation materials PROCESS EFFICIENCY Work with Finance Shared Services to monitor performance levels across the GS Division and to compare and contrast those levels (and related cost) with the other supported Divisions Work with the Group Management team to identify areas for improvement Role Profile Global Support Analyst Informa PLC 5
6 In conjunction with the shared service team maintain & develop the financial structure in SAP FC and linked systems GOVERNANCE AND COMPLIANCE Carry out role within Global and Regional policies IMPLEMENT INFORMA S FINANCE VISION Ensure all activities are aligned to Informa s vision and values for Finance and Project Globe s objectives Support and contribute to delivery of Globe project activities and milestones Ensure Divisional operations are aligned to Informa s Group Finance policy and objectives Enforce and communicate Informa s Group Finance policy and ensure adequate controls are in place Support the Division s vision and Business strategy overall The ideal applicant will preferably need to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, abilities and qualifications (as indicated in the subsequent sections): KNOWLEDGE Evidence of management and leadership skills Experience of operating in a matrix environment in a FTSE 250 business Experience of changing working practices Commercial & business awareness SKILLS & ABILITIES Able to demonstrate an innovative approach to work with enthusiasm and innovation Strong analytical and problem solving skills Able to provide robust challenge to managers around their unit s performance Leadership potential, and a good degree of EQ (emotional intelligence).
