1 Senior Management Accounting - Reporting Finance, Shared Services The Senior Management Accountant - Reporting works closely with the Manager Financial Planning and Analysis to manage, coordinate and deliver standardised, consistent and consolidated performance monitoring and reporting to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT)and Senior Leadership Teams (SLTs) in order to support more effective decision making and financial management across the Department. 2 Consolidated reporting and performance monitoring Develop and maintain standard reporting templates for key stakeholder groups, including ELT and SLT Develop and prepare high quality consolidated performance reporting and monitoring Prepare high quality (accurate, relevant and timely) quarterly reporting on the Departments financial performance to Ministers and their advisers as part of the Treasury/Crown monitoring requirements of DIA performance. Manage processes for obtaining inputs from various contributors including Finance Business Partners, senior management accountants and management accountants in a timely fashion and in a format that enables effective presentation Liaise with other teams within Finance to ensure an integrated, consistent and standardised approach to financial planning and reporting across the department Trouble shoot reporting related issues Apply a continuous improvement focus in identifying opportunities to improve and streamline Financial Performance Reporting processes Performance information is presented in a manner that enables effective insights into financial and non- financial performance, financial position and cash flow/liquidity across branches and the Department Effective financial management and decision making is enabled through accurate, relevant and timely reporting, including: input / appropriation / memorandum reporting variance analysis risks and opportunities capital reporting performance management and tracking non-departmental financial performance Ministers and their advisors are provided with high quality quarterly reporting on the Departments financial performance Processes are managed in a timely fashion Joined up advice and alignment with other teams in finance A focus on continuous improvement Page 2 of 5
3 Financial Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting Assist with the development and delivery of the Department s annual and long term financial planning, budgeting and forecasting approach, policies and processes Ensure the budget baselines align at Branch and Departmental level Develop and maintain appropriate tools for managing consolidated budgeting, planning and forecasting Monitor and report on current year investment (Capital / Operating) expenditure Ensure forecast updates to Crown revenue, capital charge and depreciation are captured promptly in the forecast system Provide reports and support to other teams within the Finance Group to ensure the co-ordinated and effective delivery of annual budgeting and planning across the Department Identify and implement ongoing process improvement initiatives for financial planning and budget areas Compliance and Risk Management Establish and maintain appropriate internal controls and safeguards Identify, manage and report at the earliest possible time any material risks for the Crown within the financial statements Relationship Management Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders and in particular Finance Business Partners, finance management, senior management accountants / management accountants and staff across Finance Manage effective relationships with key stakeholders including branch and business group senior managers Represent the Finance Group and Department by maintaining effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders Aligned budget baselines at branch and Departmental level Appropriate tools are developed and maintained Forecast updates are captured promptly in the forecast system Support provided to other teams in Finance Strengthened management of data analytics within the Finance team Risks are effectively managed and the integrity of the Department is protected Non-compliance issues are reported to the CFO as soon as possible, and are actively managed to resolution Collaborative working relationships across Finance Effective and trusted stakeholder relationships Provision of proactive, meaningful and timely communications, financial information and advice to Business Partners, executive and senior management Enhanced integrity and credibility of the Department s financial reporting.
