2 YOUTH JOBS PATH EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS JOBACTIVE SERVICE DELIVERY PLAN Youth Jobs PaTH (Prepare, Train, Hire) is a new Australian Government initiative that s designed to get young people into jobs by providing them with employability skills they need through training. HERE S HOW WE CAN HELP As an EST approved provider, TAFE NSW is on-board with the Youth Jobs PaTH initiative, we can help with: Training that is customised for your regional industry needs Training that combines both theoretical and practical skill development Access to TAFE NSW world-class facilities and educational resources such as our high-end commercial kitchens Youth friendly teaching and support staff ready to listen and help your clients A full suite of support services to help overcome learning barriers and, ultimately, the workplace Work experience tasters, to give clients a feel for the real world of work and to help them build their networks Regular feedback for clients to build confidence and help them finish their training The opportunity to find a job or continue on to further studies WHAT S ON OFFER IN THE REGION? Right now, we re planning training in Health, Community Services, Construction, Retail and Hospitality programs. EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS COURSE 1 Training will focus on the skills your clients need to get a job. This includes all 10 skills listed in the Core Skills for Work Development Framework. Our training is designed to make sure learning is practical, fun and relevant, and we utilise simulated work environments with loads of practical exercises. We place an emphasis on cooperative learning; using scenario based activities wherever possible. For Course 1, we will partner with you to select the training that best suits your local industry needs. Course 1 will include a relevant accredited unit. EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS COURSE 2 In Course 2, training focus towards job preparation such as: advanced job hunting skills identification of career goals and the jobs that will help achieve these goals interview skills with mock-interviews work experience opportunities, including industry guest speakers, traineeships apprenticeships and internship officers and industry visits. We will work with each client to build a career pathway that leads them into a job. OUR ASSESSMENT APPROACH HOW WE LL WORK WITH YOUR TEAM Like all of our market leading assessment practices, our approach will include a portfolio of evidence. The portfolio of evidence for our two Blocks of Employability Skills will include items that include group work, simulation and time management, mapped to the 10 core skills for work and the performance criteria in the unit of competency. Clients will develop knowledge of the industry, develop an understanding of employer expectations and acquire their skills in a work-like setting. We will work closely with you to create an understanding of the Youth Jobs PaTH Program and with employers, Business Chambers and industry associations to highlight the opportunities Youth Jobs PaTH can provide. Our collaboration with your team will include discussion on training content, frequency or programs, development of culturally specific programs and operational arrangements. Get in touch with our local team member (details below) to find out more! EMPLOYERS FEEDBACK FROM CLIENTS We will target industry areas where there are local job vacancies. Working with your team and the Australian Apprenticeship Support Network we will continue to grow our connection with employers to encourage their participation and facilitate work experience, internship and employment opportunities. All training participants will be asked to complete a feedback survey after each Training Block that will be used to improve the Youth Jobs PaTH program. We ll work with you on our training regularly to ensure it stays relevant and effective.
