General Summary of Function/Purpose of Position This Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) position at Hawthorn Center is responsible for the development and implementation of individualized behavioral treatment plans. This position will be responsible for conducting behavioral assessments, monitoring applied behavior analysis (ABA) programming, analyzing data related to the treatment plan and modifying the behavior plan to ensure progress of the patients. The BCBA will collaborate with Hawthorn s clinical team, education team, and transition team on behavior goals, services and treatment. This position will train and provide coaching and feedback to staff implementing the ABA services.

The total percentage of all duties performed must equal 100 percent. Duty 1 General Summary: Percentage: 35 Develop and oversee implementation of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) individualized behavior plans for patients. Conducts behavior assessments utilizing evidence based assessment practices. Develops ABA individualized behavior plans. Monitors the implementation of the behavior plans. Evaluates ABA patient program data and modifies behavior plans. Includes crisis intervention responses in behavior plans. Report on ABA treatment to Hawthorn teams and families utilizing patients progress data. Duty 2 General Summary: Percentage: 35 Provide technical support and ongoing training to staff implementing ABA. Train direct care staff on ABA training programs, Registered Behavior Task List, data collection, and implementation of ABA. Conduct regular trainings to the direct care staff on evidence-based practices in ABA behavior plans. Coaches and provides feedback to the staff implementing the ABA behavior plans following national guidelines. Duty 3 General Summary: Percentage: 15 Collaborate on the assessments and treatment with clinical teams and committees. Collaborate with the clinical team on identification of problems, formulating treatment plans, and evaluating programs. Report to clinical team on data collection system, clinical behavior interventions, environmental modification, and trainings. Work with the education staff on implementation of behavior plans, behavioral supports and enivornmental needs. Contribute expertise to the Hawthorn transitional supports team. Duty 4 General Summary: Percentage: 15 Provides assistance to the development and implementation of policies and procedures for ABA implementation and evidenced based behavior interventions at Hawthorn.

3 Assist with development of policies and procedures on training, implementation, and monitoring of ABA. Collaborate with universities, research evidence practices, and ensure fidelity and integrity of ABA services. Participate in essential continuing education to maintain certification. Work with local community mental health programs and agencies on transition and services for patients before/after treatment Utilization of Medical Library, trainings, and on-line resources to investigate the empirical basis of clinical and behavioral interventions. Conduct presentation of findings in seminars and/or case conferences. 16. Describe the types of decisions made independently in this position and tell who or what is affected by those decisions. This Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) position at Hawthorn Center is responsible for the the development and implementation of individualized behavioral treatment plans; conducting behavioral assessments, monitoring applied behavior analysis (ABA) programming, analyzing data related to the treatment plan and modifying the behavior plan to ensure progress of the patients; train and provide coaching and feedback to staff implementing the ABA services. The BCBA will collaborate with Hawthorn s clinical team, education team, and transition team on behavior goals, services and treatment. 17. Describe the types of decisions that require the supervisor's review. Decisions impacting departmental or hospital policies, procedures, personnel issues, or major issues regarding patient care should be reviewed by the Psychology Service Manager or designated supervisor. Decisions that cross into other departments or go beyond pertinent behavioral science applications require supervisor s input. Decisions that may affect a treatment outcome, such as the type of assessment measure to be utilized or the type of psychotherapy/treatment to provide an individual, will be decided on a case by case basis with the supervisor. 18. 4 Develop and oversee implementation of individualized treatment programs for patients. Monitor and develop reports on patient progress. Conduct behavior assessments. What is the function of the work area and how does this position fit into that function? The function of the Department of Psychology is to provide psychological evaluations; psychotherapy services (including individual, group, and family therapy); behavioral consultation; and training for students. This position is responsible for the behavior analysis services within the patients treatment plans. The psychologist, social workers, and psychiatrist are responsible for the emotional and psychiatric evaluations. Together, the team develops and implements a treatment plan for the patient. 26. What are the minimum education and experience qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of this position. EDUCATIO: Possession of a master's degree in applied behavior analysis, psychology, or education. EXPERIECE: Behavior Analyst 9 o specific type or amount is required. Behavior Analyst 10 One year of professional experience providing applied behavior analysis as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst equivalent to the 9 level in state service. Behavior Analyst P11 Two years of professional experience providing applied behavior analysis as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, including one year equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service. Alternate Education and Experience Behavior Analyst 9 Possession of a master s degree in a Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) approved course sequence may be substituted for the education requirement. KOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AD ABILITIES:

5 Knowledge of basic behavior-analytic skills including experimental design and measurement. Knowledge of the fundamental elements of behavior change, including behavior change considerations, systems and procedures. Knowledge of client-centered responsibilities including assessment, measurement, intervention, implementation and management. Knowledge of the methods of collecting, compiling, organizing, and analyzing data. Knowledge of federal and state laws related to behavior analysis. Knowledge of factors in the analysis of data to provide the basis for supporting findings, recommendations, and strategies. Knowledge of the methods of presenting results of behavioral analysis. Ability to analyze and evaluate data. Ability to prepare charts, maps and other graphs to display the analysis of data. Ability to organize and write planning reports. Ability to interpret and apply the principles, practices, and techniques of behavioral analysis. Ability to train others to implement components of treatment plans. Ability to interpret pertinent laws and regulations. Ability to communicate effectively with others. Ability to maintain records, and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work. Ability to maintain favorable public relations. Ability to organize and coordinate the work of others. Ability to set priorities and assign work to other professionals.
