General Summary of Function/Purpose of Position The digital media strategist serves as the administrator of the agency s digital media accounts including external and internal websites, social media, and digital publications. This position plans and develops responses to stakeholder inquiries and supports customer service activities. The digital media strategist analyzes agency branding effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative metrics to further assess outreach progress. As a member of the Strategic Communications Team, this position assists in developing, implementing communication strategy and disseminating agency messages, building brand awareness, and coordinating MVAA s support, care, advocacy, and service to Michigan s veterans and their families.

The total percentage of all duties performed must equal 100 percent. Duty 1 General Summary: Percentage: 45 Publishes content within content management systems. Develops written content for the websites with manager's approval. Maintain online content using Salesforce CMS and SharePoint Distribute agency information using GovDelivery. Work with MVAA stakeholders to develop and maintain timely content for the websites. Copy, edit, and proofread all web content. Identify, plan and implement best practices for information sharing (keyword search, SEO optimization, etc) with manager's approval. Produce monthly reports on website usage and trends. Duty 2 General Summary: Percentage: 45 Manage social media accounts. Create, curate, and publish social media content (images, video and written) with manager's approval. Engage directly with social media followers to develop an authentic sense of online community. Identify and share content that is timely and relevant to each audience. Develop and expand community and/or influencer outreach efforts. Produce reports using social media monitoring and analytics tools. Duty 3 General Summary: Percentage: 5 Manage bulk communications. Create written content for digital publications with manager's approval. Distribute agency information using GovDelivery. Maintain traditional mailing lists and distribute agency information using DTMB Mail Services. Duty 4 General Summary: Percentage: 5 Other duties as assigned. Other tasks as assigned. 16. What is the function of the work area and how does this position fit into that function? The Strategic Communications Team raises awareness of local, state, and federal resources available to all veterans and their families regardless of length, era, or characterization of service. This position manages the websites and social media accounts used to achieve agency goals. 26. What are the minimum education and experience qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of this position. EDUCATIO: Possession of a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, broadcasting, telecommunications, advertising, communication arts, public relations or a related field. EXPERIECE:

Communications Representative 10 One year of professional experience in preparing and disseminating informational and promotional materials equivalent to a Communications Representative 9. Communications Representative P11 Two years of professional experience in preparing and disseminating informational and promotional materials equivalent to a Communications Representative, including one year equivalent to a Communications Representative 10. Alternate Education and Experience Communications Representative 9 Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with two years of professional experience in preparing and disseminating informational and promotional materials may be substituted for the education requirement. KOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AD ABILITIES: Knowledge of web content management systems. Knowledge of social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Knowledge of ADA regulations and copyright laws, especially as they relate to online content. Knowledge of online branding, media and campaign management, and content strategy. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite desired, but not required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work both individually and in a team environment. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Knowledge of proper English usage, spelling, and grammar including Associated Press writing style.
