The 2012 (the latest data available) average prductin per cw was 25,000 punds (12.5 tns). The state average milk yield per cw in 2012 was 21,436 punds. In 2012, Manitwc Cunty dairy prducers als sld ver ne billin punds f milk fr the sixth straight year. Only Clark, Marathn, and Fnd du Lac Cunty dairy farmers prduced mre milk. Ttal Manitwc Cunty milk utput in 2012 was 1,275,000,000 punds. Manitwc Cunty has apprximately 1,440 farms with a ttal f 248,000 acres averaging 172 acres per farm. Excluding pasture, Manitwc Cunty has apprximately 205,000 acres f crpland. The Wiscnsin Agriculture Statistics Service defines a farm as, "Any place frm which $1,000 r mre f agricultural prducts were prduced and sld, r nrmally wuld have been sld, during the year." As f 2014, Manitwc Cunty had 241 dairy farms with 55,000 cws fr an average f 228 cws per farm (up frm 204 cws per farm in 2013; 183 cws per farm in 2012; and 171 cws per farm in 2011). The average number f dairy cws per farm in Wiscnsin is abut 120. Manitwc Cunty dairy farms range in size frm 20 cws t ver 5,000 cws. Virtually all f these dairy farms are family wned and many are multi-family businesses. Currently, Manitwc Cunty has apprximately 105,000 dairy and beef cattle with ver 97 percent f the ttal being dairy cws, heifers and calves. There are a ttal f 594 square miles in the cunty, which means there are abut 86 cws per square mile. Manitwc Cunty rutinely ranks in the tp three Wiscnsin cunties in the number f cws per square mile.
