For additional information on CHEC software, refer to Software Announcement , dated September 18, Planned availability date October 31, 2008 Description Legacy (pre-chec) Self Checkout Software ordering with Xyy lane models The legacy self checkout Client (lane) software requires Windows 2000 and the Xyy lane models lane models have Windows 2000 preloaded on the system unit. When the Xyy model is ordered, the solution configuration ties in the ordering and entitlement of the IBM SCS Client based on the feature code ordered. The following features are used to support the ordering of legacy self checkout lane software on the Xyy lane models: Description Feature IBM Self Checkout System client application For 4690 POS (PID 5697-I96) 9938 (also includes Terminal Services/Windows) IBM Self Checkout System client application For Retailix POS (PID 5697-I97) 9939 IBM Self Checkout system client application (other) 9940 (PID 5639-P39) The BOSS Model, BW0, has Windows 2000 preloaded on the system unit and supports the legacy BOSS application. When the BW0 is ordered, the solution configuration includes the license and entitlement of the IBM SCS Server Application, PID 5639-P38. CHEC software ordering with Exx lane models When the Exx lane models are ordered, the self checkout lane software, IBM Checkout Environment for Consumer-Service (CHEC) Client Application, PID 5697-P01 license and entitlement is included in the solution order configuration. The CHEC Client Application is licensed per lane and the software entitlement includes the initial year registration of Software Warranty. The CHEC platform will be preloaded on the lane (includes DB2, RMA, and JavaPOS) The CHEC Client Application and platform CDs are sent directly to the customer and ship separately from the lanes. Both the base applications and the retailer-specific configurations and customizations are required to complete the installation of the checkout lane. Refer to the instructions included in the IBM CHEC Software Planning, Installation, and Maintenance Guide for Version 6. Once the customizations are completed, these extensions may be loaded on each lane while on site, or remotely by leveraging the IBM Director and Remote Management Agent. The IBM Self Checkout Solution lane and the Back-Office System Server work together to create a self checkout solution. One BOSS is required per store. The BOSS manages shopper assistants, quick look-ups, and item security features for up to 20 lanes and IBM AnyPlace IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 2

3 Checkout kiosks in each store. The BOSS Model, 4845-BW4, preloaded with Windows 2003 server supports CHEC lane software. The CHEC Server Application is licensed per server and the software entitlement includes the initial year registration of Software Warranty. The CHEC BOSS Application CDs are sent directly to the customer and ship separately from the server. For details on the functionality and support provided by CHEC Client Application and BOSS Application software, refer to Software Announcement , dated September 18, Cabinet color The standard self checkout cabinet color is pearl white for all orderable self checkout models, machine type New customers can order other colors, which can be customized to the specific needs of their store environment. Use the FC 1699 to select the color customization setup which includes a one-time color customization setup fee. There is a charge for each customized color. Minimum order quantity for custom color is 20 lanes. Retailers are required to pay the color customization fee regardless of the number of lanes ordered above this minimum. Customization (software or hardware) The specify code (#6666) provides retailers with the opportunity to custom tailor their self checkout solutions with options and features not provided as part of the standard offering based on their unique hardware or software requirements. While IBM Retail Store Solutions provides a variety of models and feature options, this specify code allows for additional customization beyond what is provided as part of the base offering through a third party, such as IBM Global Technology Services (GTS) or a Business Partner. By configuring the base self checkout offering and selecting this specify code, a retailer will have the ability to modify solutions for their needs. When Customer-Furnished Equipment (CFE) is to be integrated with the delivered self checkout solution, specify code 6666 "Customer Solution Extension" is to be included in the order. 12 A power cord is shipped with every IBM Self Checkout solution. You must specify the plug type (locking/non-locking) for each lane's system unit. Direct customer support Installation and technical support is provided to customers through IBM account teams and IBM Retail Marketing Specialists. Security, auditability, and control Bill and coin security The IBM Self Checkout solution provides secure cabinetry for bill and coin acceptors and dispensers. Each retailer will receive one common keylock combination for their chain. In addition, the new design has reinforced steel enclosures around the cash and coin dispensing devices available with an additional optional lock feature for added protection. Coupon security The IBM Self Checkout solution provides for a secure coupon drop box, which is accessed through the locked lower cabinet. The lower cabinet has a locking feature. The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communications facilities.
