Subscribers to the ShipCat Publisher Standard Edition (SE) service are entitled to the following services: Catalogue publishing Annual catalogue maintenance Easy Efficient Electronic Achieve accurate product specification on orders Optimize data quality Update catalogues as often as you like ShipCat Publisher SE is ShipServ s proprietary catalogue publishing vehicle for producing catalogues in the commercial maritime industry standard for catalogue distribution and requisitioning. Currently, the ISSA, IMPA and Mariner s Annual Provisions and Bonded Stores catalogues are available in ShipCat data format, as are a number of supplier catalogues as well. Who should use ShipCat Publisher SE? The following types of companies can benefit from using ShipCat Publisher SE: Marine suppliers who wish to publish an electronic catalogue in a recognized industry standard format Shipping companies who wish to develop catalogues of internal part numbers for use on the ship OEM s who wish to promote accurate use of their spare part information What are the service fee structure and payment terms for ShipCat Publisher SE? One time set up fee plus optional annual maintenance contract. How does the user select items from the catalogue for purchase? Users receive the ShipCat Viewer together with ShipLink Lite or Standard, which functions as a shopping cart for the catalogue. However, ShipLink is also a fully functional shipboard requisitioning tool. When connected to ShipServ s e-marketplace, TradeNet, it serves as the only requisitioning tool the buyer needs. Can the user browse multiple catalogues at the same time? Yes, and this is one of the most important attributes of ShipCat. All catalogues are accessible in a hierarchical tree structure in the ShipCat Viewer simultaneously. As a result, when the user searches for an item, ShipCat scans all catalogues simultaneously. What information is kept in the catalogue? The catalogue includes such information as: Tree structure of categories Part number Key description Unit of measure Optional Long description Digital images Product specifications (PDF or other document formats) Nameplate information (for OEM spare parts) Can the supplier cross reference items in the suppliers catalogue to other catalogues? Yes. For example, a supplier of pipes and fittings might want to cross-reference IMPA or ISSA numbers.

6 ShipServ ShipCat Publisher FAQ What does ShipServ deliver to the supplier? ShipServ delivers a master CD including the catalogue and ShipLink Lite, plus an install program. Therefore, all the supplier has to do to distribute the catalogue is to make copies of the CD. ShipServ provides an Excel template to the supplier. The supplier simply copies the catalogue data to the Excel template and sends it to ShipServ. The supplier can optionally include pictures and/or additional info with the spreadsheet, including reference information tying the spreadsheet to the graphics or other files. Can the ShipCat catalogue be distributed to non-tradenet Members? Yes. There are no limits on the number of CDs that can be distributed. Can the supplier publish different versions of the catalogue for different customers? Yes. There are no limits on the number of different catalogue versions that can be published, although multiple versions may increase the cost. Is ShipCat Publisher SE part of the ExpertSupplier Suite? Yes. Publishing a catalogue in ShipCat format is included in the Catalogue and Contract Management Service Module in the ExpertSupplier at no additional cost. Can a supplier publish a ShipCat catalogue without licensing the ExpertSupplier Suite? Yes. The supplier must be a TradeNet Member as SmartSupplier, and then purchase ShipCat Publisher SE separately. Does the buyer have other options for dowloading the catalogue beside ShipCat format? Yes. ShipServ can provide electronic data to buyers in a variety of formats, including CSV, MDB, XLS, etc. The supplier can restrict download to certain shipping companies, which allows for the download of custom catalogues. Is the catalogue free to the customer? That is entirely up to the catalogue publisher. The catalogue can be made available to customers for free as a method of promoting the supplier s products, or sold. If the supplier wishes, ShipServ can even handle the sale and distribution of the catalogue.
