1 NZQF NQ Ref 1071 Version 2 Page 1 of 9 National Certificate in Painting with optional strands in Wall Coverings, Spray Techniques, Specialised Coatings, and Industrial Coatings Level 3 Credits 116 This qualification is expiring. The last date to meet the requirements is 31 December Purpose This qualification is awarded to people who have demonstrated competence in Painting. Completion of any of the strands in Wall Coverings, Spray Techniques, Specialised Coatings or Industrial Coatings is optional. The qualification is designed to recognise the skills and knowledge required to competently carry out painting and/or decorating works in a safe and professional manner. The certificate is designed for those wishing to work in the painting and decorating industry. The core National Certificate in Painting recognises the underpinning knowledge and key skills required of people working in the painting industry. The four optional strands allow for areas of specialisation and further skill development. Holders of the National Certificate in Painting will be able to work with a trade level of knowledge for painting. Optional strands provide additional skills within the scope of the strand awarded. The qualification is intended to promote professional standards for the industry and to provide a means of recognising current competency and/or prior learning for those already working in the industry. It is anticipated an additional qualification will be established that will recognise a range of business and management skills required for supervisors or managers to maintain a successful painting and decorating operation. Replacement Information This qualification has been replaced by the National Certificate in Painting and Decorating (Level 4) [Ref: 1696]. This qualification replaced the National Certificate in Painting and Decorating with strands in Specialised Coatings, Industrial Coatings, and Decorating [Ref: 0021] in December 2003.
