3 SECTION FLUSH WOOD DOORS PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 SUMMARY A. Section Includes: 1. Solid-core doors with MDO and plastic-laminate faces. 2. Factory fitting flush wood doors to frames and factory machining for hardware. 1.3 ACTION SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: For each type of door. Include details of core and edge construction and trim for openings. B. Shop Drawings: Indicate location, size, and hand of each door; elevation of each kind of door; construction details not covered in Product Data; and the following: 1. Dimensions and locations of mortises and holes for hardware. 2. Dimensions and locations of cutouts. 3. Undercuts. 4. Doors to be factory finished and finish requirements. 5. Fire-protection ratings for fire-rated doors. C. Samples for Initial Selection: For plastic-laminate door faces. D. Samples for Verification: 1. Plastic laminate, 6 inches (150 mm) square, for each color, texture, and pattern selected. 2. Corner sections of doors, approximately 8 by 10 inches (200 by 250 mm), with door faces and edges representing actual materials to be used. a. Provide Samples for each species of veneer and solid lumber required. b. Provide Samples for each color, texture, and pattern of plastic laminate required. c. 4 1.4 INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS A. Sample Warranty: For special warranty. 1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Comply with requirements of referenced standard and manufacturer's written instructions. B. Package doors individually in plastic bags or cardboard cartons. C. Mark each door on top and bottom rail with opening number used on Shop Drawings. 1.6 FIELD CONDITIONS A. Environmental Limitations: Do not deliver or install doors until spaces are enclosed and weathertight, wet work in spaces is complete and dry, and HVAC system is operating and maintaining ambient temperature and humidity conditions at occupancy levels during remainder of construction period. 1.7 WARRANTY A. A. Special Warranty: Manufacturer agrees to repair or replace doors that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period. 1. Failures include, but are not limited to, the following: a. Warping (bow, cup, or twist) more than 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) in a 42-by-84-inch (1067-by-2134-mm) section. b. Telegraphing of core construction in face veneers exceeding 0.01 inch in a 3-inch (0.25 mm in a 76.2-mm) span. 2. Warranty shall also include installation and finishing that may be required due to repair or replacement of defective doors. 3. Warranty Period for Solid-Core Interior Doors: Life of installation. Quality Standard: In addition to requirements specified, comply with AWI's "Architectural Woodwork Standards." 1. Provide AWI Quality Certification Labels indicating that doors comply with requirements of grades specified. B. WDMA I.S.1-A Performance Grade: Heavy Duty. C. Fire-Rated Wood Doors: Doors complying with NFPA 80 that are listed and labeled by a qualified testing agency, for fire-protection ratings indicated, based on testing at positive pressure according to NFPA 252 or UL 10C. 1. Oversize Fire-Rated Door Assemblies: For units exceeding sizes of tested assemblies, provide certification by a qualified testing agency that doors comply with standard construction requirements for tested and labeled fire-rated door assemblies except for size. 2. Temperature-Rise Limit: At vertical exit enclosures and exit passageways, provide doors that have a maximum transmitted temperature end point of not more than 450 deg F (250 deg C) above ambient after 30 minutes of standard fire-test exposure. 2.3 PLASTIC-LAMINATE-FACED DOORS A. Interior Solid-Core Doors : 1. Grade: Premium. 2. Plastic-Laminate Faces: High-pressure decorative laminates complying with NEMA LD 3, Grade HGS. 3. Colors, Patterns, and Finishes: As scheduled. 4. Exposed Vertical and Top Edges: Plastic laminate that matches faces, applied before faces. 5. Core: Particleboard. 6. Construction: Five plies. Stiles and rails are bonded to core, then entire unit is abrasive planed before faces and crossbands are applied. Faces are bonded to core using a hot press. FLUSH WOOD DOORS

6 7. WDMA I.S.1-A Performance Grade: Heavy Duty. 2.4 LIGHT FRAMES AND LOUVERS A. Metal Frames for Light Openings in Fire-Rated Doors: Manufacturer's standard frame formed of inch- (1.2-mm-) thick, cold-rolled steel sheet; factory primed for paint finish; and approved for use in doors of fire-protection rating indicated. B. Metal Louvers: 1. Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide products by one of the following: a. Air Louvers, Inc. b. Anemostat; a Mestek company. c. L & L Louvers, Inc. d. Louvers & Dampers, Inc.; a division of Mestek, Inc. e. McGill Architectural Products. 2. Blade Type: Vision-proof, inverted V. 3. Metal and Finish: Hot-dip galvanized steel, inch (1.0 mm) thick, factory primed for paint finish. 2.5 FABRICATION A. Factory fit doors to suit frame-opening sizes indicated. Comply with clearance requirements of referenced quality standard for fitting unless otherwise indicated. 1. Comply with NFPA 80 requirements for fire-rated doors. B. Factory machine doors for hardware that is not surface applied. Locate hardware to comply with DHI-WDHS-3. Comply with final hardware schedules, door frame Shop Drawings, BHMA W, and hardware templates. 1. Coordinate with hardware mortises in metal frames to verify dimensions and alignment before factory machining. 2. Metal Astragals: Factory machine astragals and formed-steel edges for hardware for pairs of fire-rated doors. C. Openings: Factory cut and trim openings through doors. 1. Light Openings: Trim openings with moldings of material and profile indicated. 2. Glazing: Factory install glazing in doors indicated to be factory finished. Comply with applicable requirements in Section "Glazing." 3. Louvers: Factory install louvers in prepared openings. FLUSH WOOD DOORS

7 PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Examine doors and installed door frames, with Installer present, before hanging doors. 1. Verify that installed frames comply with indicated requirements for type, size, location, and swing characteristics and have been installed with level heads and plumb jambs. 2. Reject doors with defects. B. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. 3.2 INSTALLATION A. Hardware: For installation, see Section "Door Hardware. B. Installation Instructions: Install doors to comply with manufacturer's written instructions and referenced quality standard, and as indicated. 1. Install fire-rated doors according to NFPA 80. C. Job-Fitted Doors: Align and fit doors in frames with uniform clearances and bevels as indicated below; do not trim stiles and rails in excess of limits set by manufacturer or permitted for firerated doors. Machine doors for hardware. Seal edges of doors, edges of cutouts, and mortises after fitting and machining. 1. Clearances: Provide 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) at heads, jambs, and between pairs of doors. Provide 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) from bottom of door to top of decorative floor finish or covering unless otherwise indicated. Where threshold is shown or scheduled, provide1/4 inch (6.4 mm) from bottom of door to top of threshold unless otherwise indicated. a. Comply with NFPA 80 for fire-rated doors. 2. Bevel non-fire-rated doors 1/8 inch in 2 inches (3-1/2 degrees) at lock and hinge edges. 3. Bevel fire-rated doors 1/8 inch in 2 inches (3-1/2 degrees) at lock edge; trim stiles and rails only to extent permitted by labeling agency. D. Factory-Fitted Doors: Align in frames for uniform clearance at each edge. 3.3 ADJUSTING A. Operation: Rehang or replace doors that do not swing or operate freely. END OF SECTION FLUSH WOOD DOORS

8 SECTION MUSIC AND PAGING SPEAKER SYSTEM PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. B. Any and all applicable state and local code requirements as they pertain to installation and the performance of the work. C. Any and all directives issued by the Architect on behalf of the Owner, or issued directly by the Owner, during the course of the work for the installation and operation of the system. 1.2 SUMMARY A. Provide a music and paging speaker system to incorporate the existing amplifier, tuner, and other operating control equipment. The speakers for the existing facility are to remain in place. B. Cabling for existing speaker systems is to remain in place, and a tie-in from the existing location of the operating control equipment (Dispatch Room) to the new Telecom Room 118A of the Addition shall be provided. Provide ¾ conduit for speaker cabling as it crosses the apparatus bay. C. Coordinate the back box and conduit installation with the electrical contractor for the speaker locations. D. All speakers and cabling shall be contained in a proper enclosure. No weather tight flexible conduit shall be installed where it is seen or exposed for the speaker installation on the outside or inside of the building. E. All speakers are to have an integrated volume control for individual adjustment of each unit; and, the volume control shall be accessible with the unit mounted in place. This volume control shall not be an external knob or slide switch, but only adjusted by use of a tool through the face of the unit. F. Provide thorough testing of the operation for each component of the speaker system, to include comprehensive training for use of all components. G. Upon completion of the installation, submit an equipment detail form indicating the speaker locations, cabling installation, and cabling terminations to the amplifier, tuner, and other control equipment. One form for the connection configuration shall be printed on self adhesive labels, minimum 8 ½ inch by 11 inch, and provided to the Owner to be used as needed. Plain paper forms with the information shall be submitted with the completion documents; and, included in the electronic media copy of the completion documents. MUSIC AND PAGING SPEAKER SYSTEM

9 1.3 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS A. Furnish and install each speaker and control equipment with all necessary power supplies and devices to establish proper communications from the main control units to the speaker locations. Contractor is responsible for each unit item to provide proper operation and required function of every unit without interruption, delay, interference, or failure. 1. Provide and install the cabling of the required type and model as specified by the manufacturer for the system; using proper techniques and manufacturer s requirements for a professional and code compliant installation of the cabling. 2. Install the main control equipment in the proper manner with appropriate mounting fasteners, supports, and back boxes as indicated in the manufacturer s instructions; and, with proper techniques and procedures for a professional and code compliant installation. 3. Submit a copy of the company s sample certificate of insurance with the bid response. B. Contractor shall be responsible for the final design and installation of the system as described in the drawings and specifications. Contractor shall submit a signed Letter of Verification with the bid response stating that all items regarding the speaker system are proposed and shown in the bid response; and, that no other items are required for the designated speakers to operate in accordance with the specifications, and the concept of design, excepting those items to be provided by Owner. Absolutely no change orders will be issued for the system outlined or referenced in the specifications and drawings. Change orders for additional sums shall only be issued if Owner directs for additional equipment for the system. Should Owner choose to eliminate all or part of the system equipment, a change order shall be issued for such; and, the amount for the system shall be reduced accordingly for such change. C. Contactor shall be responsible for permitting the project, as required, and submit detailed drawings and information as required within the jurisdiction where the project is located. Installation shall not begin until any required drawings are returned and a permit is issued by the authority having jurisdiction, then presented as evidence that the design, operation, and equipment are compliant with local codes. Speaker system installations require a low voltage permit in several jurisdictions; however, if not required for this project, then Contractor shall submit a notarized Letter of Verification for such along with any supporting correspondence that a permit is not required. D. Qualifications: Contractor must maintain a current insurance and be skilled in the installation of such systems. 1. All employees of the contracting company, working in any capacity at the facilities including sales, support, or technical work shall be subject to a criminal history background check at any time the City or County representatives wish to determine an individual s status. Anyone found to have an active arrest or other outstanding warrant, shall be taken into custody immediately; and, shall be reported to the Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau. 10 2. The contracting company must maintain a licensed office within 50 miles of the project site, and provide a minimum service response of 1 ½ hours for emergencies and 4 hours for standard service issues. 3. Contractor must have at least 5 years experience installing the equipment they are proposing, and must have installed at least 5 systems of similar size and project type with the proposed equipment within the last 3 years. 4. Contractor must maintain a stock for all equipment items proposed to minimize downtime during any required emergency standard service responses. Such stock shall be maintained as a 1:5 ratio, where 1 item is stocked for every 5 items installed for the project; and, available for replacement within 36 hours when required. E. Coordination and Schedules: The contractor is to coordinate any speaker installations through the general contractor with other trades to insure proper mounting and secure installations. Items referenced herein and on the Drawings establish quality, quantity, function and finish required for each location of the equipment. Review, coordinate and confirm that the speakers and equipment specified for each location is the proper type and function for the intended use. In case of controversy, make appropriate notations of proposed changes from specified requirements on supplier's hardware schedule and request written clarification from the Architect prior to proceeding. 1.4 SUBMITTALS A. Submit manufacturer's technical product data for each item proposed are required for the system. Final Equipment Schedule Content: Provide complete information regarding the items proposed to be installed including installation instructions, shop drawings, and diagrams to indicate placement of the devices for every location. Also, include a diagram of the connections for the system. B. Coordinate equipment installation and connections for the speaker system equipment and related work to ensure proper sizes, placement, and function. If requested by Architect, submit one sample of each type of equipment item and tagged with full description for coordination with schedule. Submit data and schedule at earliest possible date, particularly where acceptance of schedule must precede fabrication of other work that is critical to the Project construction schedule. 1. Type, style, function, size and finish of each item. 2. Name and manufacturer of each item. 3. Fastenings and other pertinent information. 4. Equipment location cross-referenced to both Drawing floor plan and placement. 5. Explanation of all abbreviations, symbols, and codes in schedule. 6. Mounting locations for speakers, amplifiers, tuners, and equalizers, as applicable. 7. Indoor and outdoor mounting brackets, housings, sizes, and materials. C. Coordinate and submit information for the work with the Architect, General Contractor, and Other trades to insure proper and timely installations. MUSIC AND PAGING SPEAKER SYSTEM

11 1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Comply with all applicable items of Section QUALITY REQUIREMENTS for the installation and testing of the system. B. Provide a written testing procedure for review by the Architect upon award of the contract for the system described in this section. The testing procedure shall include a method of testing each component of the system, including the connection of the speakers to the control equipment. C. Contractor shall provide final reports of testing for the operation of all items regarding the speaker system. D. Upon completion of the installation, submit an equipment detail form indicating the speakers, their type, location, the control equipment connections used, and cabling reference. Forms shall be provided on self adhesive labels, minimum 8 ½ inch by 11 inch, and plain paper with the information submitted as a part of the completion documents; and, included in the electronic media copy of the completion documents. 1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Tag each item or package separately with identification related to the speaker system equipment schedule, and include basic installation instructions with each item or package. B. Packaging of the speaker system items is the responsibility of supplier. As material is received by the supplier from various manufacturers, sort and repackage in containers clearly marked with appropriate room number and / or location description to match the drawing locations or approved schedules. Two or more identical sets may be packed in same container. C. Inventory equipment items jointly with representatives of contractor and the General Contractor until each is satisfied that count is correct. D. Deliver individually packaged equipment items promptly to Project site. E. Provide secure lock-up for equipment items delivered to the Project, but not yet installed. Control handling and installation of equipment items that are not immediately replaceable so that completion of the Work will not be delayed by losses both before and after installation. F. Contractor shall be responsible for all items, materials, and equipment delivered to the job site, regardless of being stored or installed; and, shall be liable of anything missing or damaged until project completion an acceptance by Owner. 1.7 WARRANTY A. Provide copies of all manufacturers product warranties. MUSIC AND PAGING SPEAKER SYSTEM

12 B. Provide a letter of warranty for the work, for a period of no less than one (1) year. Letters of warranty shall specifically note the product description, manufacturer, and model numbers of those items having special warranties. If required by the Architect, letters of warranty shall be notarized. C. All warranties shall begin from the determined date of substantial completion as determined by and approved by the Architect, no exceptions. 1.8 SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS A. Owner may require Contractor to attend an orientation meeting for its employees and subcontractors for instruction concerning the proper conduct while in the facility. B. The employees, visitors, and others at the facility are to be treated with utmost respect and understanding of their conditions and age at all times. Verbal insults or physical injury of any kind toward anyone will not be tolerated, regardless of the circumstances. Owner reserves the right to dismiss the Contractor, Subcontractor, or any of their employees for any insulting comments toward or injury to anyone for any reason regardless of the circumstances. Also, Owner may choose to cancel the Contract for such an act by Contractor. C. Contractor may only enter specific areas identified by the Owner as being a secured area, with the minimum amount of tools, equipment, and materials necessary to perform the portion of the Work in the secured area. Contractor must keep an ongoing count of the tools and equipment through the portion of the Work to ensure that any loose equipment of tools do not become engaged in the machinery used at the facility, and compromise the ongoing operations. If the employee of the Contractor or Subcontractor determines a tool or other item is missing, they should immediately report such to the Owner, and notify the Contractor s Supervisor. D. Upon completing the work in a secured area, immediately perform clean up and housekeeping to remove the waste materials and rubbish associated with the work to minimize injury to others in the facility. Remove any tools, unused materials, and equipment to the equipment or storage rooms, but do not leave any items unattended. These secured areas are best worked with 2 persons to provide a watch during the performance of the work and clean up. E. Coordinate with the staff of the secured area and communicate when the work will be performed and finished. Have the staff check the work area upon completion of the work to ensure nothing is left behind. F. Entrances and exits to a secured area are to be kept closed at all times. Keep watch during the work to insure persons responding to an emergency are not injured while trying to exit the area. Injury to a Law Enforcement Officer, Owner s Employee, Fire Department Personnel, Emergency Medical Personnel, or others may result in criminal charges. G. Upon entering or exiting the facility, all emergency and Owner s vehicles always have the right of way. Any vehicle accidents with any City or County vehicle, regardless of circumstances, shall be the fault of the Contractor; and, may result in criminal charges. Contractor shall be informed of entrances, exits, and parking areas to be used; and, Contractor shall strictly adhere to the use of these areas. MUSIC AND PAGING SPEAKER SYSTEM

13 PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 GENERAL A. Provide equipment and items manufactured to conform to published templates, generally prepared for machine screw installation. 1. Do not provide items that have been prepared for self-tapping sheet metal screws. Along with each hardware item, furnish machine screws for installation into steel, and provide threaded to the head wood screws for installation into wood; all-purpose threads are not acceptable. 2. Provide Phillips flat-head screws except as otherwise indicated in the manufacturer s installation documents, or applicable. Finish of exposed screws to match the hardware finish. 3. Provide color matching rust and weather resistant composite material trim rings and plugs to conceal fasteners for hardware units that are exposed, except to the extent no standard units of the type specified are available with concealed fasteners. 4. Provide through bolts for installations where applicable and directed by any published manufacturers instructions. Through bolts shall be flush fitting to the equipment or structure to which they are inserted, and shall not compromise the operation of the equipment, component, item, framing, or structure to which they are installed. B. Ceiling mounted interior speakers for suspended ceiling areas shall be square or rectangular to replace the ceiling tiles for their mounting location. The speakers shall be installed with a minimum 3/16 inch multi-stranded wire rope to tether the mounting back boxes or ceiling grid support to the building structure from 3 points. All fasteners for interior speakers where seen below the ceiling shall be covered by a trim ring. C. Ceiling mounted interior speakers for gypsum board or plaster ceilings shall be round, conetype speakers. D. Any location where speaker brackets will be mounted to masonry or concrete parts of the structure shall be mounted with wedge anchors, lag shields and bolts, or other approved secured mounting fastener no plastic anchors. 2.2 APPROVED EQUIPMENT AND USAGE A. Units specified below establish the design, grade, function, finish, size, and other qualities required for this Project. The approved manufacturer for the speaker system is Bogen. Other manufacturers will be considered. B. Speakers in gypsum board or plaster ceilings shall be 8" cone-type loudspeakers, having a frequency response of at least 50Hz to 12 khz. Axial sensitivity shall be 95 db, measured at 1- watt/4 feet. The loudspeaker shall have a 6 oz.ceramic magnet and a 3/4" voice coil. A transformer, capable of matching an 8-ohm loudspeaker to a 25-volt or 70-volt line, and providing power taps of 4, 2, 1, 1/2, 1/4, and 1/8 watts shall be included. 14 be assembled on a 13" steel ceiling grille, finished in off-white semi-gloss enamel. Assembly depth shall be 3-1/4". A recessed volume control shall be included. Basis of design product shall be Bogen S810T725PG8WVR. C. The protective enclosure for the 8" cone-type loudspeakers shall be designed for recessed installations. It shall be constructed of one piece heavy-gauge steel, and shall include a speaker mounting ring. A foam insert shall be permanently attached to the inner surface, to prevent metallic resonance. Four combination 1/2" 3/4" conduit knockouts shall be provided at 90 degree intervals, and the unit shall be finished in a rust-resistant primer coating. The dimensions shall be: 12-1/4" dia. x 4-1/2" D. D. The plaster ring shall be a Bogen model MR8, or equivalent, circular cold-rolled steel unit that will mount any Bogen ceiling grille. It shall be finished in a rust-resistant primer coating, and the dimensions shall be: 12" dia. x 3/4" D. E. The load-bearing T-bar support shall be a Bogen model TB8, or equivalent, capable of sustaining the weight of an 8" speaker, grille and protective enclosure in suspended ceiling construction. It shall be manufactured of steel and shall be finished with a rust-resistant galvanized coating. The unit shall measure: 23-3/4" W x 3/4" H x 14-1/2" D. F. Speakers in lay-in ceiling areas shall shall be a Drop-In Ceiling Speaker, which shall be fully enclosed and constructed of industrial grade steel. It shall be comprised of a damped highcompliance factory-mounted 8" loudspeaker that shall consist of an 8" treated paper main cone, a secondary high frequency cone, and a 10 ounce magnet. The unit shall have a 70V/25V transformer with power taps of 4, 2, 1, 0.5, and 0.25 watts, selectable by rotary switch. Output shall be 94 1 watt / 1 meter (min.). Frequency response shall be 95 Hz - 20 khz (min.). The speaker shall include 4 seismic attachment points. The speaker shall have a non-reflective, off-white or bright white (''U'' versions) metal finish grille. Basis of design product shall be Bogen Model CSD2X2VR Drop-in Ceiling Speaker. G. A front-mounted volume control shall be easily accessible. The speaker assembly will fit into 2' x 2' and 2' x 4' ceiling tiles. For 2' x 2' installations, a support rail shall not be needed and no cuts to the ceiling shall be necessary. For 2' x 4' installations, a single cut to the ceiling tile and an included support rail shall be needed. The speaker shall measure 23-13/16" W x 5" H x 23-13/16" D and weigh 12 lb. H. The loudspeaker shall be a reentrant horn-type loudspeaker, or approved equivalent, providing a frequency response from 350Hz to 12kHz. Input impedance shall be 8 ohms. Rated power output shall be 15 watts. Dispersion shall be 130. Sound pressure level, measured four feet on axis at rated output, shall be at least 120dB. The loudspeaker shall be of weatherproof, all metal construction, with driver enclosed within a waterproof housing. A 12-inch connecting cable shall be provided. An all-purpose mounting bracket shall provide precise positioning in the vertical and horizontal planes. Bracket and loudspeaker shall be finished in textured mocha enamel. The unit shall measure 6-1/4" dia. x 6"D. The product weight shall be 2-1/2 lbs. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 PREPARATION MUSIC AND PAGING SPEAKER SYSTEM

15 A. Mount units at heights and in the exact method and practice indicated in the manufacturer s installation documents and addendums, compliant with all current codes and regulatory requirements. Reinforce the attachment substrate for secure installation and adjust for proper operation. Provide clean, properly sized holes and fasteners for all devices including the use of adhesives designed for securing the mounting screws to insure secured mounting of the devices. B. Insure that proper clearance is maintained for the ongoing operations of the facility. Contractor shall be responsible for testing and adjusting mounting locations and heights of each unit. Speakers shall be relocated at Contractor s expense if testing and approvals are not received prior to final installation. C. Cabling shall transition from the building directly into the mounting adapters and housings for the speakers. D. Insure all units are mounted securely and provide the operation as required by Owner. 3.2 INSTALLATION STANDARS AND PRACTICES A. General: All equipment and materials used for the work shall be compliant with all codes and standards applicable at the time the work is performed; including but not limited to the use of galvanized or stainless steel hardware for outdoor mounting of devices, outdoor rated cabling for all outdoor applications, plenum rated cabling for all indoor applications, back boxes with cable retainers for mounting of all devices where applicable, metal wall anchors or toggle bolts as applicable for the device being mounted (no plastic anchors), and the use of conduit for cabling in rooms and areas where the cabling would be exposed. B. All cabling shall be bundled and fastened to the building structure every 4 to 5 feet. When installed in enclosures or cabinets, cabling shall be installed with proper wire management devices to provide a neat and orderly arrangement of the cables. C. All related cabling installed, or existing cabling that is routed, shall be labeled at each terminating ends with the name or description of the device to which it is connected. Also, the cabling shall have a green tracer, band, or bundled with a blue cable ties every 4 to 5 feet. D. All wire to wire connections shall be performed using approved connectors for the particular type of cable, contained within junction boxes with cable retaining fittings. E. All pass through boxes for the cabling shall be fitted with a proper cover that is clearly and neatly stenciled with paint or a marker, green in color, indicating the speaker number(s) for the cabling installed in the boxes. F. All cabling entering rooms or areas, other than the data network room to connect to the control equipment, where the cabling would be exposed shall be placed in conduit of the appropriate size and type as needed to accommodate the number of cables, with at least 25% additional space in the conduit for future expansion of the system. Conduits shall connect to any corresponding pass through or back box with proper fittings and offsets of the conduit, anchored to the wall every 18 inches with approved type straps or clamps. The conduit straps or clamps shall be anchored with metal fasteners, no plastic anchors. Conduit penetrations shall be properly sealed for standards regarding fire penetrations. These conduits shall have a blue tracer or band every 4 to 5 feet. MUSIC AND PAGING SPEAKER SYSTEM

16 3.3 SPEAKER SYSTEM Scope of Work A. Coordinate with electrical contractor for conduit and back boxes required for the speaker locations and cabling. B. Install cabling as for all speaker locations as shown on the drawings and approved by Architect and Owner, in accordance with the methods and procedures described herein. C. Provide and install all speakers for all locations with proper mounting adapters and hardware. Maintain operation of existing speakers until such time that the new units are ready to be install and activated with minimal down time and video loss as directed by Architect and Owner. D. Provide all training as required by Owner for the use and operation of the software. Training shall be provided to Owner as needed, and not limited to the number of sessions, hours, or persons attending for the 1 year warranty period. E. Provide all documentation as described herein in both plain paper and electronic media form. Documentation shall be delivered as 5 sets of bound hard copies and electronic media. 3.4 ADJUSTMENT A. Adjust and check each operating item of the system, to ensure proper operation or function of every unit. Replace units that cannot be adjusted or are not operating properly, fail to provide the quality of sound, or do not provide the view as intended for the application specified. B. Relocated any speaker that does not provide the intended view, at Contractor s own expense. 3.5 MAINTENANCE A. Maintenance Tools and Instructions: Furnish 3 complete sets of specialized tools and maintenance instructions as needed for Owner s continued adjustment, maintenance, removal and replacement of the equipment items. B. Parts kits: Furnish 5 fuses and 5 specialty items (i.e., connectors, plugs, tamper resistant screws, etc.) of each type for the system. END OF SECTION MUSIC AND PAGING SPEAKER SYSTEM
