1 Section METAL FRAMES 1.00 GENERAL A. Hollow Metal Frames: Standards: In addition to other specified requirements, comply with Steel Door Institute "Recommended Specifications for Standard Steel Doors and Frames (SDI-100), for the following classifications: B. Submittals: With manufacturer's standard details and specifications for steel doors and frames, submit shop drawings showing application to project, as required PRODUCTS A. Hollow Metal Frames: Comply with SDI-100, of the types and styles indicated, for materials quality, metal gauges, and construction details EXECUTION 1. Construction - welded, drywall except where in exterior wall. 2. Provide standard hollow metal frames for doors, transoms, sidelights, borrowed lights, and other openings as indicated. 3. Prepare frames to receive 2 silencers on strike jamb of single swing frames and on heads of double swing frames. 4. Provide 26-gage steel plaster guards or mortar boxes, welded to frame, at back of hardware cutouts where installed in concrete, masonry of plaster openings. 5. Protect inside faces of frames in plaster of masonry wall construction which are placed with antifreeze additives, using high build fiber asphalt emulsion coating. A. Installation: Install hollow metal units in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and final shop drawings (if any). Fit doors to frames and floors with clearances specified in SDI-100. 3 Section WOOD DOORS 1.00 GENERAL A. Standards: Comply with requirements of ANSI/NWMA I.S. 1 and Section 1300 of AWI "Architectural Woodwork Quality Standards" except as otherwise indicated. B. Submittals: In addition to product data, submit the following: 2.00 PRODUCTS 1. Shop drawings indicates location, size, face materials, core construction, fire ratings (if any), finishes, and elevations for each door required. 2. Product warranty on door manufacturer's standard form, signed by Manufacturer, Installer and Contractor, agreeing to repair or replace defective doors as defined by referenced standards. Warranty shall be in effect during following periods of time after date of substantial completion. A. Manufacturers: One of the following (or equal): Ampco Products, Inc. C/5 Group Acrovyn Doors Karona Woodharbor Doors & Cabinetry 3.00 EXECUTION: 1. Interior Doors: 1 3/4" solid core pre-hung, red oak, plain sliced, grade: custom A. Inspection: Installer must examine door frames and verify that frames are correct type and have been installed as required for proper hanging of corresponding doors and notify Contractor in writing of conditions detrimental to proper and timely installation of wood doors. Do not proceed with installation until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected in a manner acceptable to Installer. B. Installation: Condition doors to average prevailing humidity in installation area prior to hanging. 1. Manufacturer's Instructions: Install wood doors in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and as shown. 2. Job Fit Doors: Align doors to frame for proper fit and uniform clearance at each edge and machine for hardware. Seal cut surfaces after fitting and machining. 4 C. Adjust and Clean: Re-hang or replace doors which do not swing or operate freely, as directed by Architect. 1. Finished Doors: Refinish or replace doors damaged during installation, as directed by Architect. 2. Protection and Completed Work: Advise Contractor of proper procedures required for protection of installed wood doors from damage or deterioration until acceptance of work. Hardware Mounting Heights: Door and Hardware Institute's "Recommended Locations for Builder's Hardware for Custom Steel Doors and Frames", except as otherwise indicated. Install each hardware item to comply with manufacturer's instruction and recommendations. Set thresholds for exterior doors in full bed of butyl rubber or polyisobutylene mastic sealant. Remove excess sealant and clean adjacent surfaces. Hardware Adjustment: Return to project one month after Owner's occupancy, and adjust hardware to proper operation and function. 5 Section ALUMINUM ENTRANCES AND WINDOWS 1.00 GENERAL A. Submittals: In addition to manufacturer's standard product data submit the following: 1. Shop drawings for fabrication and installation of entrance doors and frames. 2. Samples of each required aluminum finish. B. Manufacturers (or equal): Alumiline/Aldora Amarlite/Arco Metals Co. Arcadia, Northrop Architectural Cronstroms Mfg., Inc. Vistawall Architectural Products Kawneer Company, Inc. PPG Industries, Inc. Tubelite Div., Indal Inc. United States Aluminum Corp., International Alum. Corp. C. Modifications of Details: Maintain design concept as similar systems by other manufacturers are acceptable, if determined by Architect to conform to design requirements PRODUCTS A. Entrance Doors: 1. All aluminum entrances shall be Series 375 Medium Stile Door as manufactured by Vistawall. 2. All doors and frames shall be.125" thick as extended tubular aluminum. 3. All weathering shall be a hard backed silicone treated polypropylene. Color as selected by owner. B. Door and Window Frames 1. All aluminum frames shall be Series /4" x 4" as manufactured by Vistawall. 2. All frame sections shall be extruded aluminum 6063-T5 alloy and tempered. 3. Glazing gaskets shall be extruded from elastomeric compounds and any door weathering shall be hard backed silicone treated polypropylene; to receive 1" insulated glazing. 6 C. Hardware: Manufacturer's standard heavy-duty hardware units of types indicated as applicable for each entrance, finished to match door. 1. Offset-pivots. 2. Push-pull plates. 3. Thresholds - Reese S405A 4. Lock: Cylinder lock. D. Weather-stripping: Manufacturer's standard for type of door operation indicated. E. Class I Color Anodized Finish: AA-M12C22A42/A44, Match P.P.G. Duranar coating and color as selected by owner from mfgr s standard finish. F. Glazing to be 1/4" tempered clear EXECUTION A. Installation: Comply with manufacturer's instructions and recommendations. Set units plumb and level, accurately aligned and securely anchored. Adjust doors and hardware for smooth operation. 7 1.00 GENERAL HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS: A. Acceptable Manufacturers/Products: Section FINISH HARDWARE 1. Acceptable manufacturers for various types of products are listed below. An asterisk (*) following a manufacturers name designates manufacturer whose products are indicated in the Finish Hardware Schedule. Such products are listed in the schedule by specific reference to manufacturers catalog numbers. Except as otherwise indicated, products of equivalent quality, design and function by other listed manufacturers may be used, subject to approval of Architect. B. Submit final hardware schedule organized by "hardware sets", to indicate specifically the product to be furnished for each item required on each door PRODUCTS: 1. Furnish templates to each fabricator of doors and frames, as required for preparation to receive hardware. 2. For fire rated openings provide hardware tested and listed by UL or FM (NFPA Standard 80). On panic exit devices, provide UL or FM label indicating "Fire Exit Hardware". 3. Submit samples of hardware items, showing each required finish from each manufacturer (for acceptance of color and texture only). A. Manufacturers of Butts: Hager, Lawrence, McKinney, Henry Soss, Stanley*. B. Provide full mortise type hinges on each door, except as otherwise indicated, and except as otherwise needed for proper support and operation of doors. Provide stainless steel pins, except steel pins with steel hinges; flat button with matching plugs. C. Manufacturers of Lock/Latch Sets, Including Cylinders: Schlage, Arrow, Corbin, Falcon, Kwikset, Russwin, Sargent, Yale. D. Manufacturers of Exit Devices: Adams-Rite, Corbin, Dorma, Jackson Exit Device, Monarch, Reed Exit Device/Scovill, Sargent, Von Duprin*, or Yale. E. Manufacturers of Door Bolts: Ives, Rockwood, Russwin, Sargent, Stanley. F. Strikes: Wrought box strikes, with extended lip for latch bolts, except open strike plates may be used in wood frames. Provide dustproof strikes for foot bolts. G. Equip Exit Devices with dogging devices where door has closer, except when door is fire rated. FINISH HARDWARE 08710/1

8 H. Locks: Equip lock sets with 6-pin tumbler lock cylinders, or as specified in the Hardware Schedule in a master key system to match existing system. Provide 3 change keys for each lock, plus 5 master keys for each master key system. Stamp keys "DO NOT DUPLICATE". I. Size and mount units indicated or, if not indicated, to comply with manufacturer's recommendations for the exposure condition. Reinforce the substrate as recommended. N. Manufacturers of Bi-Fold Door Hardware Sets: Lawrence, or Stanley INSTALLATION: A.
